many australians come to tiger muay thai?? heading home from europe back to aus and stopping for a month at TMT and miss the aussies. so just wandering if there will be many aussies around oct - nov period??
@Svittidiu they do that because they are releasing air as they attack....in combat, how you breathe affects how long you last. When you release air as you attack, your attacks are a little stronger and you can stay in the game longer... better for you to try it, than me to keep bothering you with explaining its effects...punch 10 times fast without breathing out like this...then try punching 10 times fast with breathing ...
I'm trying to figure out why in muay thai they do the ''aish'' sound, i have just started muay thai and i fight myself shouting ''kiai'' having a karate background. The kiai seems to be better for letting out that energy. Can anyone help me with this please? :)
you kiai (energy harmony release) yelling short & sharp at your opponent as you strike, throw whatever to assist the action's power. Same in Thai I imagine, the noise differs depending on your teachers advice.
Besides exhaling sharply when executing techniques, in competition you wear a mouthpiece so you must keep it simple & an open jaw is begging to be knocked out.
@mimoo11111 That means you are yelling the japanese word for yell haha. A kiai is a shout or yell that you make when attacking that strengthens the core for defense against counter punches, and to release energy and tension. Everyone has a unique kiai. Some people make oh or ah sounds. I make more of an ai sound. He just makes an aish sound I guess. Different kiai for different martial arts and people I suppose. I bet you could find Muay Thai guys that make different kiai sounds.
i want to visit tiger muay thai next year i heard the hottest time in thailand is in may cause i want to train and then relax on the beach is that possible ??
@Akuma31er: Yes, May is one of the hottest months. Absolutely. You certainly would not be the only one headed to the beach after a hard workout. Cheers.
Is this Thailand? Just curious, can anyone that has previous training in another ma take these classes, say on a vacation to Thailand for a few weeks? Does anyone know?
Yes, TMT is located in Phuket, Thailand and we have guests that come from many different Martial Arts forms to train Muay Thai @ our training camp on holiday or as a member of our fight team
its not about making any certain sound. Its about controlling your breathing. So with these previous retarded statements you've made and the fact that you'd make a point to say "I rarely get beated up in the fights" probably means youre just some poser who has never fought nor has any idea what hes talking about.
well in that case, your gonna lose all your fights, because your gonna get winded, and you will never get the real amount of power that you can acheive, every art does it, just depends what sound you make, its a personal thing.

My dad wants me to train at a camp how much does this cost and would it be hard to get in?

Why does everyone keep doing that sounds? PSFFFFF when the strike? Is there any proof that it really helps you focus your energy on the strike?
When I punch or kick I keep my mouth shut. That helps me concentrate and plan my next move.

the reason they breathe out when they throw a punch is so they wont get the air knocked out of them if there hit while throwing the strike

well for me the aish isnt for letting out energy its for promoting breathing and strengthening the stomach muscles for better core strength.
also kiai doesnt sound as cool.

yea it reminds me of street fighter,

the best for letting out the energy is saying : "as" "as" "as" it helps!

You dont have to make that sound but all strikers exhale a bit as they throw a shot. I'm not sure why I do it to be honest it just feels natural.

its basically them exhaling when making a hit because it helps release energy and it puts more strength into their punch
