Check out Modul 8 a VJ program for Macs and PC's, mainly for use with a projector, but multiple screens as well.
Gives you the option of trimming your projector image to the 3d object in front of it. So your cereal box could have a video playing perfectly on it. Or 36 mock computer screens that have just been cut with Modul 8, with a similar grid idea, using only one projector.. ??
The 36 screen video would be played on a pyramid-like setup of 36 televisions, older televisions on the bottom with newer ones on top, with it all being controlled by computers. The thing is, though, that I do not have the funds for it. This video was a school project, so my school gave me the materials on loan to show it on that night and made due with what I had. The video really doesn't do it justice, it looks far better live. The Modul 8 program looks very nice, but I don't have the cash.
cool man, well done. Please check out Expo '67 in Montreal, Canada, where they pushed the idea of mind expansion cinema, and multi screening to the absolute max! 3 screens, 6 screens, 9 screens in a 360degree cinema where a 1500 audience sat in the centre and watched the movie around them, 112 screens on revolving cubes, mirrored screens to infinity, water screens and dome screens!
I have just become obsessed by the idea and the fact you want to create an art piece means there is an intention!
did you cut these clips in a linear way, and then export 6 movies to different screens? Or is it one film spread out over the 6? What programs did you use, and do you intend to push multi screening more !! ??
This one is mainly proof-of-concept, hence why much of it is so simple. I created the video in aspect to the six screens as a single video first, then cropped out each section using a grid I overlaid the video in Final Cut Pro and once it was finished, I cropped it into six video files using Compressor. I have a 12-screen video in the works right now (around the same length) that will be more complex and a conceptual 36-screen "art piece" prepared as well (though I lack the funds to do it).
so 6 of the SAME video files? and each computer zoomed into a part of the video?

@euromedian718
No, 6 different video files that make one video

awsome! is this from a 6 screen computer setup, or a tv with 6 screens
shapeworkstudios1 2 years ago
@shapeworkstudios1 It's actually 6 separate computers running a section of the full video, so it's six video files.

@SOAD2k8
with something like the Radeon 5870 eyefinity6 video card in your computer, you could literally have a 6 screen computer setup

I've read about the 360° demonstration but never seen any footage of it. I'll need to take a look at the other things, though, sounds really cool!

Also, it was all synced manually by a series of metronomic ticks and a countdown then set to a loop. Not exactly the easiest thing to set up.
