@BlindWatchMakers Mariah is perfect for upper register high belting power ballads so is celine dion, but can you imagine Mariah singing Kelly's "since u been gone?" That song is a stylistic pop/rock song that is hard to sing. Also can you imagine Mariah singing a Norah Jones song which is not about high range but subtlety/nuances. Kelly can sing soft Jazzy tunes in the lower register and sound clear as much as she can belt with rock raspy growls. Mariah can only sing high "pretty" songs.

I think she could do a lot better... This wasn't my favorite performance from her but I definately think she can handle Mariah songs. She just seems a little out of breath here so it sounds a bit off at times. There are other times where she sounds incredible though.

It's even TOUGHER to actually attempt singing Mariah's song for she's an absolutely extrordinary vocalist. To pull one of her songs off and actually nail it is hard, and Kelly did it with ease. She's just as good as her.

what i love about kelly is that she doesnt rely on sex appeal or slutty dances and lyrics to sell her music and lure men into being fans, she relys solely on her voice.., she doesnt even need to wear makeup most of the time and she doesnt mind... shes REAL. mariah turned into a slut wannabe hip hop star after she lost her voice to sell music. kellys been around for a while and she isnt a sell out.. and she can still sing her ass OFF. her voice is nowhere gone.

just becuase she didn't sing it exactly like mariah doesn't mean it was'nt good. They have two completely different voices and from what i hear Kelly Clarkson's voice is alot better. The only reason people like Mariah is because she can reach the whistle register, but so can alot of other artist. The past couple of years Mariah has resorted to lip syncing because she's lost her ability to sing live. Sorry deadman1624 but kelly is way better.

this song was not too big for Kelly. i think u got it backwards..nowadays, kelly clarkson songs are too big for Mariah lol .. & kelly can def. handle an old mariah song. What about when she performed "Without You" on american idol?? ALL the judges loved it.
Mariah carey came out in 1990, 7 years later (1997) she totally LOST it - M.C. cant sing for shit anymore.. on the other hand Kelly came out in 2002.. 7 years later in 2009, kelly is better than EVER. what does that say?

I think she could do a lot better... This wasn't my favorite performance from her but I definately think she can handle Mariah songs. She just seems a little out of breath here so it sounds a bit off at times. There are other times where she sounds incredible though.

its because she's trying to force raspiness because she's singing rock songs now. oh and she totally skipped the high note you can't sing love takes time and have it ever sound right without the whistle note. the verse is supposed to go and i know that you do and i feel like you then the word inside is supposed to be sung in whistle
