@bublitzable computer monitors and TVs are very different. If you are outputting to television, you should be editing with a broadcast monitor or HDTV. If you are only going to export to the web though, you may be fine with another computer monitor.
With an iMac, the options become a bit limited. Check out the MOTU V4 which connects via FireWire 800, the AJA IO, and the Matrox MXO2 which connects via DVI.
Whats your take on the Black magic shutter I'm confused whats the difference between the two considering their both sold at the same price of 199. I'm looking into purchasing one of the the two to record my ps3 gameplay but am not sure if using a laptop will work or do I need a full on desktop please help me out man
@TMA5T3R The devices both will perform the same function, the only difference is the connection to the computer. The Intensity Pro is a PCI-e card, whereas the Shuttle is a USB 3.0 device. So the Shuttle can work on either a laptop or a desktop. Make sure that your computer has USB 3.0 before going for the Shuttle - that is very cutting edge technology.
@TMA5T3R I've done some research on the them. They only work on X58/P55 Motherboard. People with newer motherboard like me, go find something else. Matrox MX02 is good but expensive. Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR is OK.
How do i get the HDMI to work on Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 with windows 7? because there are some people who don't have Black Magic Intensity Pro and the video card from my computer has HDMI.
@exiram ...you need a capture card dude that HDMI port on your GFX card only goes 1 way...out. Its intended for another monitor if you wish to capture your clips you need a capture card (Blackmagic) because they will come with recording software
anybody know why this thing wont record ps3 videos from hdmi?? thats what I red on an ebay description. I am thinking about buying but I need to know if I can record ps3 gameplay. I wanna play ps3 on my hdmi monitor and record the video on computer.
I can't record your PS3 over HDMI with this card, its because PS3 game video signal has HDCP protection, for Xbox 360 you can use HDMI because it is not HDCP protected.
@SNAAAKE it has HDCP protection because sony has that feature that lets you watch movies in theaters and their absolutely afraid that youll buy them and then capture card them and release them on the internet
@dvestore Hey i have a question! I capture PS2 video & wish to move up to component (but not HDMI, not yet) for PS3+Xbox360. I currently capture with a desktop (non-BM card). For a laptop, what do you recommend? I know you sell the video recorder SDI & the regular one. Thanks, drop a reply here & a PM just in case.
Somehow, I missed the reason why the source video doesn't show up in the viewer? Also, the Infinity product, it's a card that goes into your Mac Pro??? Thanks, Marius. P.S. Your store's up in Marysville, right? I'd like to come up there and see it.
In the video we're playing off the Timeline. Had we loaded the Clip into the Viewer, it would also appear and have the ability to Play out to the External Monitor. Yes, our studio and warehouse is located in Marysville, WA. Feel free to schedule a visit. We have plenty of the Blackmagic Intensity cards in-stock! 1(877)353-8077
". . . all they can do is watch the footage in this tiny little monitor here." That was the line that generated my question. So I guess I misunderstood. Your store is a source for Juicedlink gear, that's why I wanted to visit, but I finally broke down and bought one off his site. Thanks for replying! Marius
Consumer TV's are great, but won't be totally accurate. It depends on your budget if 90% is "good enough. On the cheap, it might be nice to have the big consumer LCD and buy a book on how to use Waveform and Vectorscopes if your NLE has them. They'll be 100% accurate.
Cant thank you enough for this. Ended up buying the card and virtualy the same samsung LCD after seeing this. The real-time monitoring is stunning! And the capture abilities of HDMI is so far superior to firewire!! Couldn't believe the results! Thanks again.
hey guys whats up, this video looks amazing, i was just wondering what camera you used and what format you used to export it from final cut to youtube?
You can transfer HDV footage over Firewire into the computer. It's just that you can not view it to an External Monitor in full resolution/accurate color space without a card such as the Black Magic Intensity Pro card.

Why do you need an external monitor when you can just have an extended monitor and drag the view window the bigger screen??

I know this is probably a dumb question, but this allows you to record videos from your game system (xbox 360) right?

It will only work on Mac I think due to mac-faggotry. It should work though if it's the right card type.
