nice build, but if those are 2 peice dolly rims, they will break off of their hubs... upgrade to something stronger, i found out the hard way that they cant take the g forces and crashed my go kart into a fire hydrant!
@ismokewead420 Thanks man. Yeh they are and I have replaced them now, well a long time ago actually aha. Although this was a project build, not so much and kart for taking corners fast. It hasn't really been riden anywhere other than up the road just to test it out. Thanks anyway :)
@cacneaunit6 Well actually I cheated and used an automatic gear shifter. So as the revs increase, the gear ratio increases so speeds up. But the standard gear ratio is 5:1 for a smallish engines and 4:1 or even 3:1 for bigger engines. Then again it all depends on wheel diameter as that'll act as a gear ratio. The smaller the wheels the bigger the gear ratio can be.
Man just when I thought it was ok to come back to youtube I see the safety whineys are still around. Great build man, I plan to do something similar. Bought a honda cg125, so I will be flying at the safety whineys despair.
@1337bman Well 3mm thick wall, mild steel box was about £17 for 7.5M. I spend £34 on the actual material however there's the welder, paint, fixings, support plates so it all adds up. So all in all I bought two units of metal fairly cheaply for £34 and still had some spair. The spair lengths of box will be used to support the frame as comments have stated. It'll look a bit like a triangular inner support unit, strengthening the front to the rear, as well as pulling in the sides.
Dude - great project! But - I would make the main frame rails bigger, maybe some rectangular stock - while it's a neat design, I would bet it would not take much to bend and or crack the frame at the middle (front to back). One good bump and it would fold. Just my opinion. Otherwise - great work!
holy shit only 50 cc!?!? man i thought it was a 125cc, im plannin on makin the exact same one but with a 125 instead, but where did you get the rear wheel assembaly
@smallenginemods Yep, 50cc packs enough power. 125 may be a little OTT, but give it a go definately. Make sure the frame is strong and solid though. The engine block was straight off a ped and the frame was built to fit.
@smallenginemods i have seen 50cc motors that make 12-13 hp now in terms a Briggs 148cc 4stoke is 5.25hp or is you compared the hp you would need like 300cc to be equal hp
nice to see that people from nice neighborhoods can work with their hands too, good job bro!

You urgently need to extend the floor tray. Hit a bump, your foot hits the ground gets dragged back and ground to half it's thickness. Ouch!

I got one just like yours, only the front wheels are larger and independent suspension. I built last year and still use it today :D

@ZS6JMP Oh, the irony! You're whinning about the whiners. You could have ignored them like me, a smart man.
Don't you mean CR125? Unless you live in Japan.
QuicksilverdotFX 9 months ago
@QuicksilverdotFX It is quite ironic now thinking about it. Must admit I hate the youtube safety police. It is a CG 125 engine
