Fort William was realy not captured in 1746, a bomb vessel, the Terror, assisted much in the defence. 3rd April Captain Frederick Scott found that the attackers had disappeared leving a lot of equipment and most artillery there. The garrison was a littler larger than seen here, about 400 men. Nicely made video, the only thing I dislike is that all are so clean. Reenactors dislike dirt....

During the Siege the defenders made several raids which along with counter battery fire either captured or destroyed all the Jacobite Artillery being used in the siege, some of the guns the Jacobites used came from fort Augustus which the Jacobites had captured after a brief 2 day siege before they came down to Fort William

The Jacobites never attacked Fort William. They marched from Glenfinnan to the first engagement with the Hanovarians at Prestonpans in East Lothian.

Fort William was destroyed by Jacobite bombardment. After the '45 Fort william never again garrisoned any government troops.

Inverlochy castle was attacked by Montrose's men in the mid 17th.C and the Campbells were routed,but this is just fanciful rubbish.
