No one should get punched in the face just because they're gay, black, a white racist, etc. but it'd certainly be tempting to punch someone in the face if they're talking shit. With violence, whether emotional (talking shit) or physical (hitting someone in the face), you have 3 choices: 1. internalize it (most victims do this to the extreme of killing themselves) 2. inflict it back (talk shit or punch) or 3. transform that 'energy' into something that's no longer a tool of violence for peace.
