Does anyone know a letter clip with these same two guys where a comment is made, "It looks something like the letter [something]. Not something like, exactly like, you got the mind of a flea"?
I remember this - especially the parts where the short man says he 'misplaced his J' and where the tall man stuffs the hat over the short man's head when his 'saturation point' is reached!
So ok, the orange guy lives in a garage, but he DOES have a car, whereas the purple short guy has NO car but has lots of friends and so therefore apparently has his own home, or at least apartment.
Anyone ever notice the guy doesn't actually lift his hat all the way off to reveal the "J"? And I always wondered what the orange guy meant when he said "after the show", did he mean Sesame Street?
well young man.........i am sure that you have left many a thing in the car..........such as the keys. and god help you.......lets hope the frat backed you up.
The small guy sounds a lot like Mr. Beasley from the Dirk Niblick section of "Square One T.V." If it's the same voice, that means it's done by Bob Arbogast. Sure sounds like him to me, and I know he did at least one other Sesame Street cartoon.
love the line "Do only names start with the letter J?" For some reason I love the music to this one, who did it anyway? Have to agree with ISNorden, part of the charm of the older segments was the bits of "off-topic" stuff.
*This* is the kind of short that made Sesame Street watchable even into my college years: even when a throwaway cartoon character was teaching letters, he'd converse about more than *just* the letter (like a real-life teacher). Too bad that today's Sesame Street has gone the other way: the characters rarely seem to have lives beyond their lesson material.
I, too, live in a garage and don't get much of a chance to meet people. It's nice to know I'm not alone (figuratively).

The orange guy should meet the Duggars. He'd meet 19 more people with J names.

See, even back then, Sesame Street was trying to prepare us for real life...I mean, how many times have I left my "J" in the car.
And can I say that I'm sad they didn't mention Josh? I guess they've prepared me for the real world in more ways than one.

Did it sound like Casey Kasem was voicing the orange guy?
culpit 4 years ago
I do't think that is Casey Kasem. His voice is a bit higher pitched.

That orange guy lives in a garage? You wouldn't be hearing lines like that in kids t.v. today.

Looking for his "J"? I remember this when I was a kid but in those days, there were quite a few people looking for J's (to smoke that is!, LOL)

what a good thing. Has anybody had any luck finding the early 70s animation with the line "tell us all about it bright boy"?

This segment is a great example of mixing educational content with smart, funny dialogue that will entertain both parents and children.
