  • samurai warrior on horseback!?!?!??! now thats a good image to have in my mind when my quads are burning something firece.... im mutherf+ing samurai warrior!!

  • Sensei Enoeda's Kime and Kiah just broke my speakers ! o.O

  • in the words of funakoshi sensei "karate does not lie in victory nor defeat but in the perfection of charecter" im a purple belt and 14 2day i walked along and trained with sensei ohta and the other 4 heads of jka and felt this is wat i want 2 do 4 the rest of my life. that is wat karate is about that is wat enoda sensei was fighting 4.that is wat we all should be fighting 4.we shall fight this battle with our heads not the techniques we learn in the dojo my name is scott addison and im JKA4LIFE

  • Hum... isn't the voice too loud ?

  • @lepivert

My friend, I'm sorry the voice is a bit too loud for you. Try turning down your sound control!!!

  • @1000MOSHT, I appreciate the advice, thank you. But I would like to see the entire video without turning my sound control again and again, to down the voice and up Enoeda sounds. Remastering the video would be nice... instead.

  • @lepivert

We would all like to see the entire video with perfect sound quality, wouldn't we?! BUT if you want to learn anything from it there is plenty to learn about the Kata even with imperfect sound quality, I have not got the time or resources to produce a digitally mastered video to your order! When I learned this Kata years ago there was only my sensei in the dojo and books to learn from!.

  • @1000MOSHT >> I agree. My comment was just a kind of humor, a friendly sally. In fact I very appreciate the way you post these videos. Katas performed by great masters are a source of inspiration for all of us, karatekas. Do you have some with Takeshi Takayasu ?

  • @lepivert

No problems. I am pleased you like the vids.

I am not familiar with "Takeshi Takayasu" ! Sorry!

  • Enoeda Sensei had such power...really nice to watch

  • I have a question about Enoeda Shihan's comment about the kibadachi stance depicting a Samurai on horseback. The Tekki kata series is Okinawan...not Japanese. the Okinawans developed Okinawa-te and other martial arts forms based on Chinese fighting styles ultimately to defend against the Samurai. Therefore, why would the Okinawans want to give "props" to their Japanese masters? Just wondering...

  • @ndileonardo You are right about the origins of what we know as Shotokan Karate. It was the art of the island of Okinawa and heavily influenced by the southern China fighting methods. However, since it's introduction into mainland Japan it has also been influenced by the Japanese ways. The training methods and, codes, spiritual aspects, etc have all been reshaped to a great deal to reflect the character of the Japanese culture.

  • @ndileonardo

ALSO,the Samurai code and fighting spirit injected into it. The names and moves and order of some Kata and Kihon have also changed to the Japanese ways. So you see real life is not all that BLACK and WHITE!

  • @1000MOSHT bushi-do may well be Japanese, but the art is okinawan. Funakoshi shihan said in his book Karate do My Way of Life that he changed Kara-te to mean "empty hands" from "chinese hands" so not to offend the Japanese whom he was trying to introduce karate to. Likewise, he eliminated the weapons forms and re-named the Peinan katas "Heian." I don't question Enoeda's masterful karate. Nobody does it better. But I smile when the Japanese try to take credit for Okinawan art.

  • @ndileonardo You may smile, But I do NOT know of any credible Japanese Sensei or Karateka who would not recognize the fact that what we know as Japaneses Karate has it's origins in the Okinawa islands and even more so in the southern Chinese arts! I do not know what you are talking about when you say the Japanese take the credit! Karate is only known in the world because it went into the mainland Japan first.

  • @ndileonardo Last time I checked We have a country called Japan and this country includes the "Ryukyu islands also known as Okinawa; a nickname the Japanese gave it meaning a belt thrown on the water(if my memory serves me right about the meaning)! Therefore it is not surprising that anything Okinawan is also Japanese!

  • @ndileonardo I read Funakoshi's books "Karate-Do Nyumon" and "Karate-Do Kyohan The Master Text" for the first time more than 30 years ago and since then I refer to them often. I know what you are talking about but of course I am less dogmatic about certain matters with this regard these days!

  • @ndileonardo Compare the old videos and pictures of Funakoshi himself performing Kata to see how things have evolved since it came out of the backstreets of Okinawa! Indeed the sensei himself anticipated and encouraged the evolution!

  • @ndileonardo There is one aspect of modern Karate namely what's become known as"the Sport of Karate" which has overshadowed the essential"Karate-Do" which is a shame but that is a different matter!

  • @ndileonardo

It was Funakoshi himself who introduced the Okinawan fighting methods which was mostly Southern Chinese into mainland Japan. He was the first person who modified certain aspects of what had been essentially a series of crude back street secret fighting methods mainly Kata(forms). There were many versions of each of the Kata according to every local sensei or tough guy!

  • @ndileonardo That wasn't Mr Enoeda commenting - his English was much more heavily accented than that. I guess that was the voiceover guy's opinion.

  • j k a and kugb legend r i p

  • Not a karate legend but been around for many years. Enoeda took most of my gradings up to and including 3rd Dan. I knew him well, he was a friend in the 1960's. I respected his karate, what I didn't do was fawn on him. He wasn't a god, he was a man who practiced karate. Stop idolising these people, find yourself through your own ability not through theirs.

  • @7thitis Well said. I have trained with many greats in the Philadelphia region since I was a child--Okazaki Shihan, Hiroyoshi Okazaki, Gerald Evans, John McKenna, Joe Faracchio, etc. these guys were Senseis and Shihans to be sure, but not Gods. I've been around Enoeda, Kanasawa, Yamaguchi, and many others. But they were never Gods.....karate heros of mine certainly, especially when I was a child. But they are great teachers. People who prostrate themselves don't get it.

  • You must be a karate legend to speak in such a superior way. Talking is easy, Respect is hard.

  • His kiai is frightening

  • cool

  • Excellent video, great for learning this kata. Thanks for posting!

  • Thanx sensei OSu .. KIBALACHI..

  • fantastic!!

i loved getting taught from him! rip!

  • Amazing!

  • Thanks for posting this great kata by such a great master. I've never seen Enoeda Sensei do kata before. Fantastic!

  • clearly youve read my comment in fiull, and done your research. Bollox!!

Shotokan, shotokai, wado, kyuka shinkai, gojo etc etc, all come from historically similar, sometimes the same martial/karate house, they all develop there style/stregth/stamina in different ways, you are clearly in experienced, in whatever you do, to make these comments proves that to ANYONE who reads the posts. your obviously an annoying, naive little boy, who shud learn more before spouting off. crank

  • which is better for me, you and the rest of the world.

LIKE I SAID, IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND SHOTOKAN, OR ANY KARATE, THEN FUCK OFF AND LEAVE THE PROFFESSIONALS TO DISCUSS SOMETHING THEY KNOW ABOUT, AND YOU CAN STICK TO PULLING YR PISSER THINKING U KNOW SOMETHING WE'VE ALL APARENTLY MISSED.

  • Really? Your extensive research on the topic has yielded true facts abouts the mysterious, and incredibly subjective martial arts world? You must be a world-famous historian or researcher, published in every martial arts magazine in the world!

But you're not, so stop talking about what is "fact" because there is no such thing when it comes to martial arts.

  • I think this guy (acerwk) admitted that he was only a yellow belt in hapkido or something on a different post. So, of course, he has extensive knowledge of Shotokans effectiveness.

Tell you what acer, let us know what city you live in, and we'll make arrangements to get a Shotokan black belt in front of you who'll be happy to demonstrate how ineffective our techniques are.

  • Really? You should check out Mikio Yahara, a Shotokan legend who operates a private security firm protecting bankers. He was attacked by about 30 Yakuza goons in a parking lot, and dispatched them all. It's right here on youtube, from Japanese television news reports. Or Terry Oneill, a KUGB student of Enoeda. He's a bouncer by trade, been in literally thousands of altercations. He wins....a lot, usually with one technique.

  • I've trained with him when I was around 18 or 19 yrs old many years ago - he did my grading. For warm-ups, we had to do about 60 press-ups! He did it with us and he was around 60 yrs old! I nearly died! Then during training session, I realised that his reflexes were incredible. Unfortunately he has gone now. RIP, love and Respect. OSS !

  • if u get started on in a pub your gonna make ready position, or even bow to yr oponent, techniques are designed to exert stress on various muscle groups, therefore developing that muscle group. and the exactness needed helps

  • promote discipline and critical observation. Also, as many students get 'corrected' by sensei's,l even when theyre as good a they'll ever get, it helps that student to learn to cope with situations under duress, which will inevitabely resut in less physical conflicts,

  • Sucks!

  • acerwk, Your brain (what brain) sucks

  • hahahhah :-D

  • nob. Enoeda was known and respected across the world, by ANY style, organisations professional students - u retard, if u have an interest in shotokan, you will know the name, and it should be a name & a legend to admire. If yr not intrested then do us all a favour and go suck yrsen off. This man, has helped to deliver quality, solid karate to millions of men, women and children, and one thing REAL martial arts practicioners learn is HONOUR and RESPECT. lmfao

  • sorry but nobody will attack you with oi tsuki or gyaku tsuki in real fight so all this is shit

  • until around 60+ yrs ago Kata use 2 b taught over 3year s, includin 'bunkai' or real application of techniques reality, so oi tsuki may become a hook/jab/whatever! The katas other purpose is to help remember the 'basics' & 2 conditin the body. no one thinkls that

  • You say no one will attack you with oi tsuki or gyaku tsuki? But what are they really? oi tsuki is a lead lunging punch, where you step/shift the lead leg forward and punch with the lead hand, boxing calls that a jab, they just shorten the movement. Gyaku tsuki is a reverse(rear hand) punch, where you step forward and punch with the rear hand, boxing calls that a straight punch, they just use shorten the movement. Same moves, different approach. An experienced karateka understands these things

  • @deek77 well said. well taken. different style. same ends. one can take traditional forms to a real street fight but best be careful...self-defense from karate is good but..my experience leans best to muay thai in a real fight or heavy sparring. your point is respected.

  • @MrOhjok Many thanks, bro. I would say that no competent karate practitioner would break out into a kata in an actual fight, that's just silly. To such a person, kata serves as templates for various scenarios. A well known precept in karate is that kata is done a certain way, but fighting can go any way, so use it to prepare for anything. But as you said this is but one art and one path. The beauty of martial arts is there are so many to choose from, you can find that works best for you.

  • @deek77 yes...my point.. exactly.. made in your wise words..stay well..I would add that some ground training makes the game complete.. as we all know..and your grammar is fine.

  • @MrOhjok Forgive my bad grammar, I meant to say you can find what works best for you.

  • oss sensei, i wish i could have met you, you would have taught me disaplin for sure. forever your humble pupil

  • Oss O Sensei .

Yes indeed we are very very lucky (having stars at night in Cadiz) !And uttermost privileged to have you here. Some never die ! You believe or not believe! Some stay alive . OSS

  • when i heard sensei's kiai it seemed as he was actually alive in front of me performing the kata amazing.

  • Thank you very much for posting this! A great sensei, a great perfomance! rest in peace Shotokan Tiger Enoeda Sensei

  • You're more than welcome. Thank you for your appreciation.

    Yours in Karate-Do

  • Thank you!!

  • un deleite para la vista y el espíritu.
