Since this January I've started research how and why Japan went into the ww2. I used to think that American ill will drove Japan to the war, but finding the fact that there were 300 communist spies in the American government at the time of war made my eyes open. It becomes clear that both Japan and the states were well abused by Russians. Thanks for American chivalry releasing the old secret files, especially "VENOA" files and those of Maryland facility.

@gottamouse i have a lot of issues with all these comments... and it isn't even about how less people died by dropping the atomic bomb, it's more about the amount of people who survived it. like WTF, i was born and raised in southern california and when i visit what's left of my family in japan, there are people who NEVER supported the war who have melted faces 'cause of the blast. & every person in my family has died of cancer. I'M at a high risk. nothing can justify it. absolutely nothing.

@EyeNeedToPee If you had any idea about Japanese society at the time of the war you would realize that most Japanese were incredibly devout to the Imperial government. The nation as a whole, not just the Military, was prepared to fight the war. Civilians were even given military uniforms. If there were any against Japan going to war against the U.S. they would have numbered very few.

@EyeNeedToPee As for the dropping of the Atomic Bomb its perfectly justifiable. Do have any idea what would have happened if those two bombs weren't dropped? It was either drop the bombs and hope the they would surrender or invade their homeland. Its true that many people died because of the two bombs, but MILLIONS of Japanese would have died if we would have invaded, including thousands more Americans. Russia was beginning to make its own plan to invade Japan, we couldn't let them do that.

@paulinotou It isn't about killing people for "war"... that doesn't make sense, we were trying to end it. Its about taking the lives of some to prevent the death of millions more. In war sometimes you have no option but to choose the lesser of two evils. We wanted the war to end, that's why we did it. Period.

@paulinotou That's irrelevant because we're talking about Nagasaki and Hiroshima, not what would happen today. Japan would have forced every man woman and child to fight us if we invaded. We would of had to wipe them out. The only way to make them surrender was to make them fear something they couldn't defend against. Which is the reason why we bluffed saying we had more bombs when we really didn't. You need to change your perspective and open your eyes. It sucks but war is war, we had to win.

@paulinotou I never said anything about nuking other cities, that's totally unrelated. For one we haven't nuked anyone else since WWII and second we have no desire to. Escalating to the use of a nuclear weapon is the last resort in the defense of America. No one wants to see it happen.
