  • i i could choose one voice to hear for the rest of my life I would choose young paul's voice :'(

  • this makes me miss home so much.

  • It sike he's talking about John, and it just makes me love him more!!!!! :')

  • -3

  • from Paul to John!

it's so touching and makes me cry.

  • He should change it to "her side" instead of "his." It sounds kind of gay if he's talking about a male lover. I know he wrote it for Mary Hopkin but if a man sings this it's weird.

  • he looks so much like matthew broderick in the first photo!

  • for people who thinks john is much better musician better listen more carefully

  • @thewho186 I never thought one was better than the other. They were equals with a capitol E.

  • I've raped the replay button.

    I regret nothing.

  • i keep finding new songs ive never heard this fantastic song before . he really is a genius isnt he .

  • Paul wrote this song before he even knew who Mary was. I love how he says him in the song lyrics...I bet he wrote this about John...<3

  • paul mccartney es lo mejor!!!!! viva paul mccartney!!!!!!

  • The video is too beautiful.

I love this song sung by Paul, I love his voice ever so sweet.

I love Paul and the Beatles.

  • One of my favorite songs :)

  • esta cancion me hace llorar me hizo recordar a gente muy kerida ke se ha ido gracias brooo

  • Thank you, Paul!

  • i like this version alot more than Mary's

  • He has such an amazing voice! He can sing really low, and really high too :)

  • McCARTNEY IS BRILLIANT..

  • alguien puede decirme en que disco esta??

  • @mariemaureen hola , bueno yo fui el que creo el video, solo que ahora hice otra cuenta , esa cancion es del disco B-sides volumen 6

  • i love you paul!!♥

  • this song was written for Mary Hopking and this is just a demo that he show to her (:

  • What a Voice!!

  • why wasnt i born in the 40's i could have met what is music the Beatles i love them and their music didnt die it lives through me and thats where it will stay

  • May have been written for Jane Asher

  • Insanity that there was never a proper Beatles recording of this lovely song. It's better than some of the stuff on the White Album.

  • Hes talking about John.

    "Far away my LOVER sings

A lonely song and calls me to HIS side

Where the sound of LONELY drums

    Invited me on.

I must be by HIS side.

  • @XsbcatfangX He wrote this song for the FEMALE singer Mary Hopkin. Get a reality check.

  • @spreadtherandomvibe Hey retard- Idk. :D

  • @XsbcatfangX

    I wouldn't be surprised.

  • I would love to meet him and give him a big hug of thanks. When I was a kid, I thought no way could I ever marry him with the age difference. (Ha! as if) Ironically, I married a man ten years older than myself and we have been together for over 30 years.

  • Isn't it obvious?

Paul McCartney didn't die. That whole hoax is ridiculous. Those conspiracy theorists are missing the big picture -- they're not thinking 4th dimensionally.

The fact is, Paul McCartney is a time traveler. He took hundreds of great, hit songs written by other people through time, ripped them off, then went back in time and released them himself before the original artist ever conceived of them.

It was a brilliant scheme, but he gave it away by being barefoot on Abbey Road.

  • @superman11978 ok are you high or just insane i mean time travel really, thats what you actually believe and this is all proven by him being barefoot at abbey road? yeah... do you think its not possible he was just a really good song writer?

  • @superman11978 Dude, like are you kidding or something? Are you high, cause I read this and started laughing like crazy. So are you kidding? Or are you really that brainwashed to believe that crap?

  • Lovely

  • Great song...i love it.

  • Such a sweet song, I cant even think why it was not released.not on any album i know

  • Macca, eternal genius!

  • do macca wrote this song?

  • McCartney always has lovely tunes. Love almost everyone of them.

  • Does anyone else think '64 Paul looked just like Matthew Broderick in Ferris Bueller's Day Off? Anyhoo, yes, this song is fucking killer.

  • he can't possibly be human. Mary Hopkin said he wrote this song for her in about 10 minutes flat :/

    fricken genius

  • genial!! esta muy buena :D

  • another genius song that should be released by Paul this time!

  • his better then Mary hopkin

  • de que album es esta cancion? what album appears this song?

  • @jose785255 No salió en ningún album, ya que McCartney se la dio a Mary Hopkin para que la grabara.

  • Amazing, Amazing, Amazing..... and he gave it to Mary Hopkin who's version was a smash hit..... BRAVO Paul

  • @AllisterCooper2008 Everything is still possible. After every upturn, there is a down hill going and after every that there is another upturn, if you know what i mean. Everything is still possible.

  • when was this?

  • this is very "White Album" sounding......verey mother natures son-esque

  • @AllisterCooper2008 Never. They were a once in an era ocurrence.

  • God, I am SO in LOVE with Paul! It's crazy, but sigh, just look and listen to him! siiigh <3

  • @fifiesponja07 I Feel The Same, and Im a Bloke

  • @fifiesponja07 I know the feeling :') oh, if only I was born half a century earlier! <3

  • @danceqwertytoujours I WAS! 10 when they hit. It was an amazing time fo sho.

  • @fifiesponja07 I so agree he still sounds cute too

  • Huge hit for Hopkin and would have been for the Beatles too. They gave away so many great tunes, such ss "Bad To Me". Lovely tune and so good. It has that old Paulie melancholy that resonates so much.

  • LOL he didn't change the gender of his lover in the song like most people would.

It makes it... kind of strange that I prefer it this way?

  • xxoo

  • Mary just didn't have it in her to deliver it like Paul

  • That was so beautiful....

  • Thank the good lord for YouTube! Had no idea that Paul had recorded this lovely song. Nice one poster. Thank you.

  • @Emerystreet Thank the constructors of the ARPANET, the guy at CERN who came up with the idea of web based Internet, the founders of the Youtube company and thousands of others in all fields of science and technology.

  • :'(

  • Linda and David Bowie almost look like brother and sister...never could get behind the hair-cut ; )...they say left-handed people ARE more creative...out of necessity in a right-handed world..

  • If someone asked me to pick one song that I thought was the most melodic song McCartney ever wrote, which is extremely difficult to pick if you could only choose one, but I think I would pick this song :) xo

  • @blueearthgirl I'd like to change this comment after listening to Macca. I can't pick one song that is the most melodic, because they're all so amazing :) xo

  • This song makes me sad and want to cry to start with, and I also sang it for graduation. I love Paul McCartney.

  • dude good work on the video it doesn't look like you made this in movie maker

  • Absolutely beautiful. The man's got an incredible gift, no matter what critics and people might say. STILL got a great voice in his '60's!!!

  • do they sell the orginal demo on itunes?!

  • From the 1960 `s to 1997.an album which is perhaps his best,"Flaming Pie".Please listen to it....and then say what you Think.

  • Ich liebe dieses Liiiied!!

    It's amazing !!

  • this song is amazing.

  • can anyone link me to an mp3 of this?

  • What a great song!

Does anyone know what key this is in? I try and play it in C (normal accoustic), but it is out by a tone or so? Anyone have any ideas?????

  • @beatlific this is how i play it. standard tuning, all base chords, capo on third, chord progression of D, F#m, Bm, G, Em, A (should be hitting this chord on "..late"). D, F#m, Bm, G, A7, D (..go away), quickly play G before hitting A for the chorus. Keep hitting A, and on the final bit where he go's "..Goodbye my love, goodbye.." on the A string hit |--0--2--4 before going into D again for the second verse. Rinse and repeat to right before the very end, where its D, Fm, Bm, Em, then finally D :)

  • @bigshoes123321 Actually i put the wrong string for that 0-2-4 bit, its the Lower E bass string

  • A true genius Frank

  • Great demo version by Paul. Sounds very much like a White Album outtake. In fact, this song could be used as an alternative last song on that album, replacing the Ringo sung John song "Good Night"!

  • i just bought this song by mary hopkin and i loved it. now i know why.

  • MKowloon your right the beatles were from outer space, that came here to show us what real music is

  • This song is especially dear to me because, to me it sums up all his magic in one song. Thanks for coming to Miami, Mr McCartney. I'll never forget that concert.

  • As a rational person, I refuse to believe the Beatles were human until I see some quantitative evidence. This masterpiece-of-masterpieces does not help the "human theory".

    Peace & Love

  • @MKowloon This is the best description of the Beatles I have ever read! No one has ever said it better. :)))))

  • @MKowloon Ha ha! Too true mate! I have often thought listening to some spectacular Lennon Mccartney compositions, how dare anyone make such beautiful songs! When I heard songs like Things we said today For No One It's Only Love Ask Me Why All My Loving and this one too and countless others I was speechless in admiration! Nobody has, can or will come close to the lads from Liverpool.

  • @MKowloon i've always felt that way...somthin has to be up, no one writes that many great songs.

  • @MKowloon They were they last known descendants of Atlantis.

  • He wrote it so he knows how to sing it. The words have a complicated rhythm, and he puts it across much more clearly than the Mary Hopkin record... he just hits the subtle tones that the ear needs to make sense of the chord progression

  • The song has such an odd structure.. it shouldn't work, but does.

  • @celt67 Come on man, he's the great MacCa!!! That's why it works, he has such a weird gift of music, every single note that comes from his guitar can be a beautiful song =)

  • Oh Yeah !

  • Amazing falsetto, tremelo and melody, the words seem intrinsically connected to the melody line.

  • There is something intangible about this song that is just so moving...

  • He wrote this for Mary Hopkin to sing- and she got a #2 hit out of it. Get Back was #1.

  • I have this demo on a bootleg, and I love it. I always found it interesting that the lover is a "he". Surely he didn't write this with the intention to give it to a chick. Does anyone know? I just find it damn funny that Mr. Immovable Heterosexual wrote a song like this. How many other Paul love songs started out with "he" instead of she?

  • @thanksforallthefish He wrote it for Mary Hopkins a Welsh singer that the Beatles signed to Apple. So this song was written specifically for her to sing. So he recorded this demo for her to see how he wanted it to be. But yeah I thought it was kind of weird at first too, until I found out why. But I really wish he said "her" instead of "his" because I hate explaining it to other people who I show it to. lol

  • The Maestro great voice

  • The Maestro

  • great

  • man current "music" seems just nonsensical

  • @kindermaus Yeah, a lot of it is definitely convoluted and not genuine.

  • Is this version available on any disc?

  • he almost makes me cry!!

  • i like pauls version way better!!!!

    i love him soooo much!!!!!!

    and boy was he handsome

  • Now yes, this is the right version! with Paul´svoice, nothing like his

  • What a beautifully constructed song.

  • Of cource it is a song from one of the greatest songwriters ever born. I am glad that I lived at the same period as the Beatles. My parents didn like them so it was difficult to hear their music at that time.

  • Thanks for uploading this!

I LOVE Paul's voice in this version<3<3 It melts me 0_0

    X3

  • if i hear this, as lennon-fan, i dont know whos the best beatles... bust propably each one is fine and the best!

  • Paul wrote this for a female, whether it was Mary Hopkin or someone else. Listen carefully, you'll hear him sing "I must go to his side". Now, Paul McCartney has been described as one of the most flaming heterosexual men on the planet! So obviously this was a demo for either Mary or another female singer. He never intended to record it himself.

  • @MegaObserver1

"been described as one of the most flaming heterosexual men on the planet! "

THAT will tell you something right there.

  • This is so beautiful- so happy to have come across it!

    Paul forever <3

  • the chords are so well put together, the melody is so pretty, and pauls voice adds even more beautiful depth to this. wish they would have made this a mastered song!

  • anthologyに収録してほしかったです。

  • This is fantastic

  • Paul...You're the best. You know it. I know it. The American people know it.

  • God,I love this man. This makes me cry..

  • Such a beatiuful song. :)

  • why didn't The Beatles ever release this? It's McCartney's Across The Universe IMO

  • I love this man and I get sad every time he has another birthday. I can't believe he's 68 now...

  • @aramirez83 Well, he may be 68, but at least he's still alive! :)!

  • Paul sing this song so good. He is my favorite beatle!

  • beautiful song.

reminds of blackbird a lil bit.

    what is the year?

  • FIrst time I've ever heard this; not his best by any means, but still cool. If it had appeared on The White Album, it would be called a classic.

  • It's hard to believe that's a man's voice.

  • Classic

  • i could simply cry with the majestic and beautiful simplicity of this song. truly a classic. thank you danielx0093, and thank you paul mccartney.

  • Another fantastic McCartney melody.

  • Have no way and no idea how to thank YouTube for allowing me to listen to songs by the Beatles, collectively or even individually unreleased. It really is not for nothing that the expression...you live and learn ... came into being!Thank you, thank you and once more with feeling...thank you!

  • at some point paul didnt know if he was fucking linda or david bowie in his ziggy stardust period

  • @AristYdes My thoughts exactly.

  • this is maybe one of the best songs ever. the composition is so natural it seems hes improvising it as he plays it

  • that was great

  • @cumbco

    lol!

    He wrote some corny shit.

  • @cumbco sorry r u too caught up with lill wayne and songs bout fucking bitches?

  • @FuckBieber Are you an idiot? Check my age moron! This is as John said..."Granny music", it sure as hell ain't Rock, besides I'm intitled to my own opinion aren't I?

  • @cumbco here is my opinion.

You should hear some REAL granny music lol

Music is music. Paul could do anything. He was raised by a musical father and was influenced by his parents music. John was brilliant in what he did and so was Paul. They had two different styles that meshed well. Paul can rock out with the best. Paul was very versatile and loved all kinds of music..so did George. John was a rocker at heart. I like that RINGO was known to love country music. Open minds is a good thing ;)

  • @ilovefreedom80

I think that, while Jagger, Jim Morrison and big rockers of the time were creating their 'personas' and legends of the rock star, John created the philosophy to justify it all.

Brilliant men, all three of them.....

    What?

Oh yeah, Ringo was cool too

  • @cumbco thanks, john circa 1970. in reality john wrote plenty of granny music himself if you listen to his home demos. just like paul has had songs banned from the radio. they're more alike than different.

  • @heatwhisperedtrees I don't consider this Granny music. It is a lovely tune that is so sad and meaningful. They could not always do rockers and the Beatles strength was in their diversity. they could do and all out rocker like "Get Back" or "Come Together" then turn around and do a full on pop tune such as "Eleanor Rigby". There will never be another rock/pop group of such talent again, and anyway the world has turned and the possibility no longer exists for such a band..

  • so, did paul write this or did mary?

  • @beatlesboyseventeen i know this comment is from a while ago but Paul wrote this song, "Goodbye," and gave it to Mary Hopkin :)

  • @LeThereBeatles4ever well ur the first to reply anyway, so thanks :)

  • Any one know what bootleg album this is on?

  • tears, i cannot belive it.....

  • Everytime i see a picture or a video of him,a get a bad vibe from him,I'm a huge beatle fan but..he looks nice but sound's mean..sorry paul

  • @Vide0Gam8r Are you referring to Paul???

  • @eanders417 What do you mean,like..

  • His own version has never been on a record, has it?

  • TOP THAT!!!!!!

  • The GREAT,GREAT Paul McCartney !!!!

  • Having only heard the Mary Hopkin version, this is a gift. Thanks!

  • this song really moves me, especially the verses

  • Lonely drums?

  • He could write these in his sleep in the 60's (and did once with Yesterday)

    Great song, great melody.

  • i know, what a genious. and to think he wrote this lovely song to give away

  • Wonderful voice, but Paul always had a good voice. I love all of it, but the change at the coda (at the end) of the song is really nice.

Happy New years Paul From England, Luton.

  • Comment removed

  • Gosh.. I love his voice!!

  • This is Paul McCartneys demo of this song "Goodbye" which dates about around 1968 or '69. Paul gave this song to Mary Hopkin to record.

  • i love this song<3

    paul's pretty amazing, huh?

  • nah Paulie sings it better just because it's Paul McCartney!!

  • no not just because hes Paul McCartney its just because he sings it better...

  • yes of course but that goes without saying^^

  • mary hopkins version compared to pauls is like apples and oranges.....their completely different and equally great in their own right

  • Paul sang this song way better than mary and she will never match his voice or surpass it in anyway.

  • Well, that goes without saying. He's Paul f'ing McCartney. Who CAN match his prodigious talents, other than that fellow named John?

  • Mary sang it higher.
