Oh this was done in New York in 1980. The play ran through 1982. This version of New York New York has never been released, as far as I know. Until this was posted the only versions I've ever known were the tape I made of this show in 1981 and a bootleg copy that made a couple Velvets boots.
The footage of Nico lip-synching New York New York was played on video monitors that were set inside the eyes of a giant Buddha sculpture that was the primary set of the Squat Theater play Mr. Dead and Mrs. Free. At the beginning of this clip you can see the picture window of the theater with the 23rd Street traffic going by, and you can see the belly but not the head of the Buddha sculpture. This is magic music.
@rslessix as is said^^ ... that was the ending of a german documentary about 80s underground. you can find it at kino.to (search: underground berlin)

One more note -- this is only HALF of the song, it cuts off in mid sentence. So my tape of it at least is complete!

une version de NY assez fade! Mais sa ne detruit pas l'immense talent de Nico!
Merci pour la video je ne l'avais jamais vu avant!

Awesome! never saw this clip. It's funny when she has a hick-up, starts laughing but continues her hilarious lip sync.
I like this version of New York, New York very much; it's not on one of her records by my knowing?
