Hey, thanks a bunch for your kind words (though, I don't think Mr. Boone would take kindly to them...HA!). I get a kick out of singing this song--along with all the other "Crooner" music I have the opportunity to perform throughout Southern California. Oh, the girl walking past in the background, I believe she's one of the staff there at the retirement home I performed at. It's located in Apple Valley, California, and the folks there are simply the best at Merrill Gardens!

I am no native speaker of English... and I was just trying to translate this line into Spanish, and was not sure what it meant, so I googled it and found this comment.

I believe it means that the river is deadlier than a knife which is "proud" (figure of speaking, of course) of being sharp and deadly... could it be?
