To the 'dog lovers' and the 'police training only' crowd... This is a form of Schutzhund training. The stick/whip that the target man is using never ONCE strikes the dog. Watch the video closer... he uses it to see if the dog will be intimidated or afraid of it, but he NEVER strikes the dog. Also, when the handler called the dog off, it complied. This is a well trained dog. Think of Schutzhund as 'martial arts' for dogs. They actually learn to control their bite power this way.

@draculasirishbride What's funny about your comment is that a large number of police dogs are in fact rottweilers... as well as dobermans, in fact you can find police stories online of both of those breeds serving well and taking a bullet for their handlers... the shepherds are a great dog, but dont think police will ONLY use that breed, its just been with them and the military the longest

jawbraeka here: lets take this as a couple of people that know what their doing... perhaps without the whip for a starter the dog might understand ... i have seen first hand what can be done with dogs and understand how it can work... but still the whip bothered me ... it leads me to think that perhaps the 'attackee' isnt so comfortable TO CONTROL the dog.

the chances of this dog going crazy in the park are nil. notice it break attack and return to its owners side. they are trained to follow commands not to distinguish appearance.

the military also often call on the expertise of civilian trainers. and no not only the police and services should have and know how to train attack dogs..... i wont give it all to the state

They are only training the dog. Once the guy told the dog to come it immediately stopped and went back.. he didn't continue to maul the guy and the dog didn't get out of control because it is very well trained. This is the same technique they do one German Shepherds for the police. Search it up, you will find that they are all very similar.
