Looks good! And even though you can't hear it the text and the fact you show everything to the camera helps.
The only problem with the design though is the cheek looks like a solid metal piece when in actuality it would be hollow if the skin was torn away. Just for future reference :)
Very good, except where your cheek is, i wouldn't put a solid metal piece there, since your mouth becomes your skull and jaw. if you know what im talking about.
good but I wouldn't use paint at all. Its easy to just cut open a soda can and use the metal of it in the inside of it. get a little piece of it and glue it. paint just looks weird!
you are missing the point. This is a quick video to show a way of doing terminator style theatrical makeup. Doing this in a video it is better to do a large area so that people can see clearly what I am doing. You may notice that it is hard to see what is going on in the small cut.
I don't think I missed the point at all. But you have missed the point of my post.
The effect is nice in style, but the execution is wrong. Had a large patch been placed on the forehead to show a large exposure it would make more sense. Instead, you've placed a large patch "under" the skin where there is no bone/metal in the center of it. Because of the anatomical incorrectness, the effect is lost on me.
@PaulGrantDesigns um hello!!! she explained it to u, i would have used the cheek too as if she used the forehead her hand would get in the way and u wouldn't have been able to see the working of it!
Im sorry. But... This guys cheek is awful, the Terminators has much movin parts and you can see his teeth in that area. Not one steelplate... But besides that little miss. Youre really one amazing make up artist! =)
It's great!!! thanks for post this vidéo .i'm going to use this technique for make a little action vidéo.i'll post the vidéo here.(sory for my english; i'm french)
notice how the cheek is is completely silver, the Cyberdyne Technology Terminator Endoskeleton has an open hole in the cheeks area for the jaws to move. so u might want to do it again, but this time, by looking at the Terminator Model 101 Series Endoskeleton face structure.
You don't need much at all. I think I got a 100 ml but only used a tiny bit. you don't want to do it in really thick layers because it will take ages to try, I was playing around with it for ages and haven't used half of it yet.
Only problem is it looks like a blank mask under the skin, add the detailing like the pistons and whatever where the cheek part is and itll be perfect!
I am actually doing a make up thing exactly like this for a Terminator Salvation promotion because I work at a movie theatre. I am going to follow what you did exactly step by step. Thanks :)
wicked good luck! I am looking forwards to seeing the movie when it comes out.
Have a read of some of the comments, some people suggest doing the tear a little higher up to miss out the jaw, or draw in some hinges or something. I would love to see photos of it :)
I saw a picture somewhere that gave me the idea, and I looked into how to do wounds and kinda just sussed it out. I need to keep practising, I think it could be done better...
Yeah thats a really good idea. I need to get the shading right, so it looks like it has some depth. I wish I could find some good still pictures so that I can study it alittle better.
I think for now I will just to it higher up, so that it avoids the jaw until I have it sussed out.
That latex I am using is made for Theatrical use. Normally you would put it on in thin layers (helps with drying time) and you can build it up to the thickness you want by applying a few more layers.
If you are worried about having a reaction to it to a patch test first, and always stay well away from the eye area :)
If you are really worried about using it you could always just use a nose and scare wax and just peel it up where you want the rip to be.
This is awesome! One small thing, the tear on his cheek is way too big, and it doesn't look right seeing as if his cheek was missing you would see his teeth not solid metal.
Sorry, I'm a dork.
One way you might want to try (which worked awesome when I did it) is to use aluminum tape I imagine tin foil could also work. Stick it to skin, putty, latex, tear, makeup, done. Cool metal finished indo.
Thats a good point I didn't think of that. I guess where I put it, it would be exposing the hinges in his jaw.
Iv never thought of using aluminum tape, Ill have to look into it. I thought about using tin foil but I thought it would crinkly to easly. It would be cool to get a small, thin looking plate to put under the putty.
Mostly I just wanted to do something that would be easy to do with makeup, if you don't have any of thoes things handy.
Yea, tin foil I did once after posting to you. It did crinkle a bit but was really quick and easy.
I don't think I'd even attempt Terminator make up without it. It doesn't crinkle and it lays so flat to the skin the cover up is easy. Also it gives an amazing metallic mirror finish.
Mmmk I'll work on it. I like having music because I'm still getting used to talking in videos, and I think it makes it a bit more interesting, but I will keep it quiter so that it's just in the backround.
Terminator make up... What really is missing is 3d depth like in the terminator film. They used objecttracking, that's easier, better and a little more realistic than make up. The best thing on make up is, that you can get realistic looking blood.
I know what you mean, and I agree... but I can't really use CGI type stuff when I'm going to a halloween party eh ;)
Its just a demo on how to creat diffrant effects with make up.
Had a look at your Channel, your object tracking terminator is great. Really awsum job i could never do anything like that on my computer even if i had the right software, it looks wicked :)
