Tekkaman Blade was great, but after Miyuki's death, the show slows to a crawl until the Blastor upgrade, and I still have to finish the series. I have the DVDs, and they come with all the OVAs. The dub is really good. I can ignore the censorship, like Miyuki's torture. Also, I watched the dub of the Blade vs. Evil final battle, and they use Masquerade from the Japanese version. The dub continued to the end outside of the US, though it was less censored.
Also,Harmony Gold's Treatment of RoboTech Butchering 3 unreleated Mecha Animes was similar to How Saban butchered 3 unreleated different 80's Metal hero series's Space Sheriff Shaider,Metaldor and Jikuu Senshi Spielban and used they're battle stock footage for VR Troopers.
and as for Samurai Pizza Cats, the Original Japanese version Kyatto Ninden Tenyandee, the characters were originally Animaloid Ninjas, and not Armor Suited samurais like how the Saban Dub changed them to be.lol
As in instead of being anthropomorphic animals (I'm not exactly sure what "Animaloid" means), they're depicted as humans in armored suits that take appearances of animals? I'm sorry for not understanding what you mean.
Animaloids means that they're actually robotic animals, which is why you sometimes see screws coming out of speedy or big cheese;s ears whenever they get blown up or injured.
What I couldn't stand about SciFi (or whatever you call it now) is that after a good while, they started to change their program block to Tuesdays and then they changed it to Thursday all without warning and then they straight up canceled it altogether. I can see why they did, but it was the main reason why I still want to buy Perfect Blue, Macross Plus, and R.O.D. the OVA.
Sucks that we don't have as much anime blocks as we used to have.
AS and to a lesser extent, Toonzai are the only ones we have now. If you have digital cable like I do you would have Nicktoons(DBZ Kai), Disney XD(Naruto Shippuden), or G4(Marvel Anime).
Or just order Funimation Channel or Anime Network.
I never saw Akjira but I've known about it for years. I had for a big portion of my life really heavy restrictions on what I could watch by my mother. She did this from like age like 10 up till I was in my early 20's Moslyt with the kiddie films. I was forced to see the deep blue sea when I was about two years under the legal age. Mon thought it was too old for muppets from space.
I also got teased a lot when I was younger on multiple occasions. Heck my youngest sister used to call power ranger potty trainers that how mean my sisters used to be.
You get a good deal on slayers if you get season 1-3 together on dvd in a boxed used for like 20$. But they fuck you over with season 4 and 5 on amazon in order to get them together your forced to g et them in bluray and dvd format which is stupid. You can buy them on a normal dvd by themselves on Amazon. Butt here a lot more expensive there like 40$ a piece.
@slyther2 I may take a look at Robotech. For me my dislike comes from the fact that i am just a true blue Macross fan and I like shows to be shown in its purest form. I would not like to see say, Boardwalk Empire get butchered up for another country. But i do admire what Robotech did.
@MagusX1 That's Perfectly, perfectly understandable an I respect you Magus because you don't come across like those 'other' Macross fans, many of whom are REALLY purist and vile and mean spirited to anyone who watched Robotech or something. I find myself in a weird position here as I'm barely 20 and for someone way out of the time period I love the RT anime and those kick-ass novels. Circumstances at the time as Darscream mentioned like syndication forced changes to what originally just Macross
@slyther2 Yeah its cool man. You like what you want to. I am thinking of taking a look at both Robotech and all three anime series, just to do a comparison. I am a huge Macross fan, but curious to see Robotech again and its changes. I am more open to it now than I used to be, so once I am done with Deep Space nine on Netflix, I will watch robotech.
@MagusX1 Also, what bothers me about most of the fandom is that whilst they rave about how those classics were 'butchered', Macross was really the only good one. Southern Cross and Mospeda were just kind of 'eh', mediocre. But I feel I'm ranting here sorry. Growing up in England we had Toonami primarily and other minor anime blocks showing Toonami stuff like CNX and Animecentral but those were all unsuccessful I think and closed within a year which is a shame as it was nice seeing Anime on Uk TV
@MagusX1 (apologies), Lastly, unlike the Americans barring the Namek-Garlic Jr Saga, all of DBZ and I think Dragonball as well was the Ocean version. At the time there was a lot of censorship and I can excuse the so called 'writing'. Voice wise as that being the version I avidly watched I'm much more fond of say Mcneil's Piccolo and Drummond's Vegeta and the musical score than say the American Faulconer scroe which we didn't see alot of.
The american Music score for the Ocean Version of DBZ was done by Shuki Levy best known for his music for inspector Gadget,Power rangers,Digimon and Mon Colle Knights.
The Music score that was done for the 1995 Ocean/BLT Productions version of the original Dragonball was done by Peter Berring, only 13 episodes were dubbed by ocean before funimation redubbed the whole series in 2001.
I guess the time u guys were droping out of Toonami I was still strongly in love with it.
I liked Totally spies and Code Lyoko although I don't think they are Japanese products.
Even though I am older I still like to see anime on broadcast T.V. I can't always put my money completely into anime so when it comes on T.V. I take it as a Godsend.
;o; Anime Unleashed! Good times back when G4TechTV used to be about gaming too & had great shows such as Judgement Day & Icons! I remember Last Exile, Gad Guard, Gungrave, Rahxephon, Cromartie Highschool, Read or Die & that pointless fanservicey anime Colorful
Another channel I recall seeing anime on that not many mention often is Fuze where they broadcast Tenjho Tenge & Ergo Proxy for a year or 2
I remember that Anime Unleashed block too, they also had Soul Taker,Magical shopping Arcade Anaboshi,Geneshaft(One of my personal favs), Silent Mobius and Seriel Experiments Lain.
Also The Showtime Channel in the 90's and early 2000's also aired anime at one point,Mostly Street Fighter 2 the animated movie, and they also at one point Aired the Dirty pair OVAS and DirtY Pair Flash
Escaflowne stopped running on Fox after the episode with the female lead's shirt is taken off by another woman and her bra is showing in a close-up.
