If not for Mike Tyson I never would have heard of Ted Lewis. He was an exceptional fighter to say the least. The fact he wanted a shoot at Jack Dempsey would make an excellent movie in modern time?
ted kid lewis fought boxers way above his wieght. heart of a lion the passion and determination he showed reminds me of roberto duran. TED KID LEWIS he is in my top twenty of all time .hes not in the hall of fame for nothing
Dempset v Lewis is a frightening thought, look at the size difference between them! not to mention how he was destroyed by Carpentier who had been battered by Jack!
Mayweather, Jones, Hopkins and all you pro's are hereby declared PUSSIES forever and unfit to grace the ring for the cash you get. Retire NOW you bums.
Sorry friend but Ted Lewis was VERY well paid in his day and fought because......he liked boxing. He wanted to be the best, not just talk about being the best like Gayweather and his ilk.
Guys like Lewis were a different breed and money was not an issue, unlike now were they only fight for money, not glory.
I beg to differ and to prove my point, just take a look in to whats known as AMATURE boxing, see how much they get paid, then ask the reason for them competing.
Money,to a true fighter/boxer has LITTLE to do with boxing, thats the reason so many of them end up skint, because money was NOT the issue to them, competition was.
so many greats near forgotten or definitively gone along with Lewis see also Liverpool's Ernie Roderick and the most feared middleweight in the world Manchester' s Jock McAvoy and his rival the equally feared Scots italian Bert Gilroy.

Strange that a Jewish guy like Ted Lewis would become a bodyguard of Sir Oswald Mosely and a member of the British Union of Fascists

@MrTennesseeVols it was before the British Union of Fascists was founded that he worked guarded Mosley, he was never a member.

If you ever get the chance read his biography, written by his son Morton Lewis.
History in schools should teach about people like Ted Kid - What an amazing man.
A proper British hero
