...oh, who am I kidding? I've seen them live before, and they're always equally (or more) amazing live. It's rare when that can be said about a band. Unless that band happens to be Iron F'king Maiden. ;-)
Man this song really moves me, I saw these guys in High School in the mid eighties, and now 25 years later they are just as good if not better, how many bands can say that?.....Good on ya Iron Maiden, Bruce still has the Best Pipes in Metal, what a talent, Highest respect to all who Love God.
j'aime la pointe d'ironie dans le titre ^^ " pour le plus grand des dieux " , alors que toutes les parties des guerres de croisades pronaient l'éxistence de leur dieu uniques ^^
I have listened to this song more than 100 times still love it so much, so powerful and meaningful. to kill in the name of god and have very little understandnig of humans............im so drunk as well..............life is so enjoyable.
@WrathchildNH, totally agree, I'm economically conservative, but socially liberal, so I guess Im a liberatarian. But since when did politics turn into a money making fiasco. America will be doomed to communism if something doesn't change, and the nuclear warheads are the other problem. Just like they said with Brighter than a 1000 Suns, Hly Father, We Have Sinned. The Nukes let us play God, which is 100% Wrong. PERIOD.
the whole liberal/conservative line in the sand is whats friggin the world up........not every fiscal conservative is out to fuck the world.....and a whole lot of liberals are only trying to further their OWN agendas...... to vote people into office blindly just because of party affiliations is absurb on both sides of the aisle......the left wing will F you in a heartbeat as soon as you disagree with them
The problem is.....after the must play songs...Wrathchild,Hallowed, # of the Beast, fear of the dark, Iron Maiden.....then 5 or so tunes of new material........there's onlt room for 4 or 5 songs to be mixed in....a couple being the greats...like sign of the cross.....ancient mariner........personally...I'd like to see 7th son and Paschendale once more live...or phantom of the opera
@WrathchildNH but on that tour they played the AMOLAD as their first set and then did hallowed, fear of the dark, evil that men do and iron maiden for the encore
Not that it's got anything to do with the music, but does anyone know their political vision. I know they've done quite a few songs about social injustice and the misery of war, but those don't really show their point of view.
@Fan666Maiden their political view is kind of personal don't you think? i doubt they would reveal that type of information in an interview, nor do i think the interviewer would think, or be permitted to ask. but in general i can only assume that their political stance is liberal, but then im no expert.
they wont man they never play songs like that only the commercial songs unfortunatly .there is loads of songs i wanna ere them play live but they just wont.
'99- hits tour, 01- mix tour, 03-hits tour/mix tour,05-hits tour, 06- new tour, 07-mix tour, 08/09- hits tour.... the one tour they played new songs you people give them shit. maybe you should have gone the other 29 years they were touring. bitching all the time...idiots.
yeah. Music is always that way. Even mathematical music like Bach.
I have read an interview with starpianist Kissin. He said something like that musicians have to be religious/mystical persons. I am not sure whether he really meant, that they have to be believers and not atheists. But you surely have to be very very convinced that those silly noises and sinuswaves of gas particles indeed mean something.

has anyone noticed how the latest album is very God and religion influenced?
shahryar93 2 years ago 7
Yes. God appears in a few songs but in the album (assuming you mean A Matter of Life and Death) is quite religion-based.
I think it's very effective, making people question themselves, religious or not.
puppetsan 2 years ago 3
the album is more about the horrors of war. and this song is how religions devides mankind and is abused as a sick purpose for war.
ok, pilgrim, reincarnation and lord of light are mystical.
ulizinho 2 years ago 3
i find brighter than a thousand suns to be somewhat mystical aswell (and no, not because the first line mentions God...)

Could be that, but a lot of the songs have more effect being played slower (e.g. Hallowed Be Thy Name and Fear of the Dark).

the tempo is what deside how the energy of the music is spoken, if a calm melody gets played too fast then it will sound rushy and the other way.
