I didn't say a single thing about his guitar! Who cares what he played.
I was speaking of his solo, most notably the one on the studio album (and several live versions that I have listened to) that IMO detracts from the song.

I think the double-A single "We Will Rock You / We Are The Champions" was Queen's assault on punk rock. "We Are The Champions" was the rallying cry to the faithful, while "We Will Rock You" hit punk rock right square in its audience.
