Ok, as a third party in this game with no horse in the race, on the int in the endzone the ref is clear influenced by the DB motioning incomplete pass, he clearly looks at the DB (who I guess was influenced by the previous p. I. calls) and then waves it off
@harryjung92 Oh don't be so jealous you whiny little bitch. Name one relevant player Switzer cheated to get.
Oklahoma 55, Texas 17. Oklahoma has already dished out a pair of lopsided beatings in the last decade of this rivalry, winning by 52 points and 49 in 2000 and 2003, respectively. Go catch the highlights on your bonghorn network if it ever makes it on air. You lying dickhead!
Back in the SW Conf. days for Texass, bad calls were a normal operating procedure. The fumble call was in the middle of the field and out in the open. The Sooner defender hacked the ball out of his arm and bounced it off the ground while he was running and the ref said the play was called dead at that point. They said the play had stopped while he was running down field.!
"There's no doubt about it" (Ken Faulkner, supervisor of SW Conf. officials, confesses that Keith Stanberry did indeed intercept the ball that should have sealed the win for #2 OU over #1 Texas. The no call interception resulted in a tie. (1984).
NO CALL FUMBLE - On the first play from scrimmage, the texas RB clearly fumbles the ball and it's recovered by OU, but the refs inexplicably waive off the fumble and give possession back to texas
PHANTOM PASS INTERFERENCE – During the final game tying drive, the texas WR charges into a back peddling OU defensive back, while the ball is thrown way over their heads and is clearly not catchable. The refs call pass interference on OU. ABC announcers Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles confirm that it's clearly a bad call.
NO CALL FUMBLE PART II – During the final game tying drive, the texas TE is rumbling down the middle of the field. He is whipsawed between 2 OU defenders and fumbles the ball while in mid air, OU recovers. The refs inexplicably waive off the fumble and give possession back to texas. ABC announcers Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles confirm that it's clearly a bad call.
PHANTOM TIMEOUT – Down 15-12, texas is at mid-field and in hurry up mode since there is just about a minute left in the game and they are out of timeouts. Texas runs a play and the clock just freezes for what seemed like several minutes even though no one called timeout. The refs never announced any sort of official timeout. Meanwhile, texas goes over to their sideline, huddles with the coaches, gets a dry ball (it was
STANBERRY NO CALL INTERCEPTION – Just prior to lining up to kick the game tying field goal at the end of the game, texas heaves a pass into the end zone that is intercepted by OU's Keith Stanberry, but the refs waive it off, without giving any explanation. ABC announcers Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles once again confirm that it's clearly a bad call and that people will be talking about this one for years.
The fumble not called referenced earlier in that last drive was key play. Any UT fan who needs the video of that fumble, let me know. Nobody other than biased UT fans cried interference in end zone. Not in paper, not anywhere outside Austin. My UT grad dad told me when I walked in the door with my OU Frat brothers that the Official made bad calls. I didn't know cuz I had a low seat on UT side 40 where I saw the fumble but could not see the Keith S INT. Nice Freedom Bowl performance by the way.
switzer was pissed about the blown int in the endzone with 3 seconds left in the game and earlier on the last drive when texas rb caught a pass and fumbled. absolutely 2 horrible calls. twice ou recovered the ball (int and fumble) and twice the refs blew the call.......if you watch a video titled "ou nothing else matters" you will see both the int and fumble. this video had a bad angle of the play but in the other video its clear when he was hit he fumbled well before he hit the ground.
Absolutely devestated by that call in the end zone - remember it like yesterday. Watched with a good friend who was a Texas fan from Wooward and OSU grad. We almost came to blows...
Why I have 2 thumbs down, God only knows. Texas is Texas people and that ain't neutral even if the Sooners are 195 miles away. Besides, did the Sooners feel at home when the refs blew the calls in this game. I actually saw this game back then and was sick to my stomach. That and that debackle in Kansas that year. Go Sooners!!!
One of the original reason's why this game should be played at both UT & at OU... Cant understand why they play at a neutral site every year. No bueno
With due respect, the neutral field is what makes this one of the best games every single year. 90,000 fans, split at the 50 yard line. Half in red, half in burnt orange. It's beautiful. And neither team can claim they lost because of homefield advantage.
OU fans love to point out that interception, which was a pretty pathetic no-call. They forget that their punter's knee was down on their own 38 a few series before.
soonerscott.....luv your videos man and thanks for all the wonderful memories! i was in the pride 1981 to 1985 and the BEST game i ever witnessed was OU/OSU in 1983 when switzer gave the band the game ball. i hope someone has that video somewhere!!!
09:16 both feet down with the ball in the endzone, game over. WE WERE ROBBED!!! the eyes of Texas were not on OU that day. thank's for the video and thank's for the memory

@harryjung92 Of course no FACTS. what players? what practices? It's all texas jealousy of OU being the #1 team in the Modern Era.

You'd think Sooners of all folks would respect a good 'cheat'. Given every title they've ever won has promptly been followed up by NCAA probation.
Switzer was a little girl for not shaking hands at midfield. lol
