The Fed inflates the money and every single dollar in circulation is based on DEBT. Wanna tax millionaires inflated money and transfer it to someone else? You've solved NOTHING. The underlying problem remains, high cost of living and government coercion. You won't be able to pay for the debt and balance the budget with these puny tax raises on rich people anyhow, you need to cut the wars, and put all those shitty government programs out of their misery.
not only does this man make, to quote Noam Chomsky about being rational, "Cartesian common sense", but he is honest and UNAFRAID of saying it like it is. The spotlight needs more people like this.
progressive taxes encourage resentment towards each other. it divides the country. right now, around half of the income earners in the country don't pay taxes, while the top 1% contribute something like 38% of all tax revenue, yet they're still demonized.
im sorry but 50% haha, "guys like me" .... please no more... this guys is an amazing actor but lacks heavily in common sense... in the twenty's hahahhaa
@greenmanlance ....the 20's were a major economic boom. That's why it's refereed to as "The Roaring 20's." New technologies and ways of production created new jobs, while the average citizen was investing heavily in the stock market which I'm not going into detail about, This eventually led to the Great Depressing.
And as for the "guys like me," whats wrong with saying that? He obviously is very wealthy and is saying he would be more than willing to pay more to lessen the load off the majority.
I would argue that rich people like Matt Damon - might not start a small business with their "tax break" but they sure as hell "keep" a ton of people employed by spending that money on stuff only rich people can buy. In short they keep dollars flowing in the economy. The economy needs people (not government) spending money, especially those who have a ton of it, plain and simple.
You mean putting it in a bank which invests the money in companies that then use said "socked away" money to buy labor (aka: CREATE JOBS). Stupid fucking idiot. Your money isn't sitting under a mattress asshole. I can't even believe how ignorant this piece of shit is.
But the banks AREN'T lending money. I just tried to get a $7000 secured loan to re-side my home. Even putting up more than enough collateral wasn't good enough to get the loan. When I spoke to my siding contractor, he said he just went through the same thing trying to finance a new work truck. Banks aren't lending to anyone. Here in Wisconsin where I am, businesses are closing all the time. I can't remember the last time I saw a new business open up.
You seem to think banks either leave money sitting in a vault or loan it to small business start-ups or homeowners. Did it ever even occur to you that they put the money into the market? What do you think happens to the money they invest in the market? Do you think the corporations receiving the investment just horde the cash? No, they use it to hire more workers, to develop new products, to do the kinds of things that make the world turn.
As usual... Matt is well intentioned and even more misled. We love your heart Matt, but please stop talking nonsense. Congress is a black hole and they will keep taking from you. We have got to focus on spending and cut that significantly.
lol he has actually no idea what he is talking about.... really bad views on taxpolitics... no one is actually stopping him for paying more taxes... but let me guess... his capital is being managed by some financialmanger who put it all to cayman islands...
He's no different than listening to the kid who spent one year at liberal arts college before dropping out. It seems there is not truth to "A little knowledge is dangerous". Sure he has a well worded argument, even if it is no different than some self impressed idiot's
They sad thing is that as soon as someone talks about tax increases conservatives always draws the paralell of higher taxes = more welfare. That is just a small part of the equation. Higher taxes provide funds for all aspects of goverment. What's so bad about more money for education, healthcare, law enforement etc?
Here in Sweden we've been lowering and removing taxes for 20 years now and every day there are budget cuts and the educational system is in worse shape then it's been for decades.
@juicyappleish NO the 1% do NOT pay 40%-maybe back in the 50s- these days they probably pay their own 35%-but only on the un TAX HAVENED part (you know the 5% bit of profit they own up to) the other 95% is DIGITALLY travelling the globe in search of the best interest rate-park it there for 5mins-bleed THEIR 99% and MOVE ON+ON+ON-sucking the poor and OVER taxed majority dry
@Slave2PaperWithInkOn Well, I understand you. You cannot live without the rich giving you handouts. Typical Lazy Liberal Socialist. Always asking for handouts and food stamps
@juicyappleish Thanks for replying to my reply to your comments!! Sorry about the delay(JUST got home from11hrs SLAVING)Handouts?Where+When did I mention HANDOUTS?l WAS gonna mention erm-the around 1TRILLION HANDED to the "poor" bankers/corporations(the sponsors of OUR govts)with NO strings attached(but l didnt)Lazy?See above.Liberal?Probably from the word Liberty=YES! Socialist?l do Socialise and pay tax for my fellow HUMAN beings to have=Fire Dept,Police,Roads,Army,OH-+HealthCare!Peace from UK
LOL How many times did he shrug and say "I don't know" in this clip? What a jackass. It is better to be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and prove it beyond a doubt.
Hey Sunnyvegas, you have now idea what you are talking about. "Throwing" money at the wealthy has been proven time and time again that it grows the economy by creating jobs. When has throwing money at "hospitals" every grew the economy? You are out of your mind. Try getting your info from places other than youtube!
1) If you tax Apple they just raise their prices, outsource, lay off workers, lower their quality, or limit their growth. Either way, taxes do not solve the problem. I have yet to hear somebody tell me what is a "FAIR SHARE" that each corporation is supposed to pay. Who determines this?
2) Have you ever heard of the expression "throwing good money after bad"?
@gideondavid30 1: if you dont tax Apple, the money goes to laying off workers anyway, simply because paying people in Bangledesh will always be cheaper than it is to pay them here in the US, and those cheap Asians cant unionize (its illegal in that corrupt state) so they cant fight for higher wages.
2: if you dont tax anybody, we wont be able to create any social welfare net. let the poor starve in winter, fuck them, theyre obviously lazy and worthless souls, if they arent millionares.
1) Apple provides products that people want. That is its number one goal. A company does not come into existence to provide jobs. A job is a means to an end nothing more. Jobs that go overseas make room for DIFFERENT jobs at home. The economy is global now their no stopping it (that includes tariffs, restrictions to trade, wage controls, or government intervention). Besides, most jobs going overseas are UNDESIRABLE anyways.
2) Strawman. You liberals and your strawman (the SKY is falling OMG!!!). First, High taxation hurts everybody but the very rich. Second, let the states create the social wefare nets not the federal government, that way the damage is done locally and not nationally. Third, by getting government out the economy prices of goods are lowered and jobs are created (that includes healthcare, college tuition, etc)
yup... here in America we punish success. Socialize that shit..... I think you make too much money, so I'm going to take your money and spread it out to those who do not work as hard as you do.... Sounds great you fuckin idiot
Damon is a bright guy who has a limited understanding of economics. His assessment of Obama is wrong. People of his persuasion would rather justify then admit the truth. The right was wrong to play chicken in the debt ceiling deal. But it was Obama's inability to lead that caused the left to compromise.
49 percent of the country doesn't pay taxes. Its "criminal" that the anyone has to give up 53 percent of their earnings to the country while 49 percent of the country pays zero. No one creates jobs with their money in the upper class? Matt, you sound very ignorant. It's easy for Millionaire Matt Damon to make these claims that people who make 250k should pay 53 percent of their income to the government, but that is crippling for people with a big family.
@burgerboot "49 percent of the country doesn't pay taxes"? I think you mean 49% of the country doesn't pay federal income taxes. Specifically, they can push their effective tax rate down to 0 with exemptions for stuff like, you know, having kids to feed. They do, however, still pay payroll taxes like SS and Medicare, not to mention sales taxes, food taxes, property taxes (if they actually own their home), etc. And you say Matt Damon is the ignorant one... P.S. Who said anything about 53%?
The point is taxes are not equally distributed. For anyone to argue that a rich person paying half his income in taxes (ALL TAXES COMBINED) is beyond me.
"having kids to feed" ...you have to to love it when people pull the heartstrings.
He's basically disgusted with himself???? lol Who are these wealthy conservative folk? Every conservative I met is hardly someone I'd call 'wealthy.' Unless you count wealth in horses. But compared to a hollywood mansion, that's like nothing. lol
@Brett9897 kinda naive comment isn't it? sure any one person can pay more, the point is we need all to pay more. One person can't fix the whole country.
@darbone It isn't naive. He says "I don't mind paying more. I really don't mind paying more taxes." If he really feels that way, there is nothing stopping him. Nor is there anything else stopping all the other bleeding hearts. The day that liberals start voluntarily paying more money to the government is the day that I will believe they truly think government is the only way to help out the poor. Until that day I will continue donating my extra money to private charitable organizations.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that one of his good friends and mentors was Howard Zinn, who unfortunately died. The legendary historian who wrote "A peoples history of the United States".
Having a high tax pressure is not about” turning in to china”and being “damn lefties” It´s about making a prosperous interaction between regulating the markets and the free market forces so that no one “innocent” will suffer from other peoples “risky business”
There`s a recession…but some systems (like we have in DK) is less “shakable” and we have growth in our GDP! The main reason is that our taxmoney is being utilized to bring forward investments..which the free market can`t get financed at the moment…
To Matt Damon, Warren Buffett and all of the people who complain that you are not taxed enough. You don't have to wait for the government to impose it upon you. You can stop declaring all possible deductions or you can send the additional money that you believe you truly owe to the following address:
Gifts to the United States
U.S. Department of the Treasury
Credit Accounting Branch
3700 East-West Highway, Room 622D
Hyattsville, MD 20782
You may or may not be doing this. If not, now you know.
Higher income taxes on the top earners is clearly in order, but what is really needed is a wealth tax that will reach into the $40 trillion in accumulated wealth that isn't subject to any kind of taxation at all. Don't let anyone tell you the country is "broke" - it's not. It's just that all the money is in the hands of a few thousand corporations and family trusts.
@thesaurusrs Warren Buffett is a total saint in a world of greedy corporate kingpins. Most of the really smart investors can use legal loopholes and cut a lot down on taxes. The fact that the Wall Street elite are in bed with the Government sure keeps them untouchable.....
I don't get people like Damon. WHY MATT would you send 60,000 more dollars to Obama, Bush, or anything else in Washington. He would do 10 X as much with that same money if he did his own foundation to help those same kids!
This what I think a of people don't understadn about conservatives like me. I think everyone blessed with money should give to others. I just can't figure out how giving money to Bush or Obama = caring or not being a racist.
They've also been caught seizing homes they don't own - numerous instances of that in the last 5 or 6 years.
I don't understand the delusion that corporations are to be trusted, Who rises to the top of corporations/banks? Answer this: Who wins when children play board games? The kid that plays with integrity & a sense of fairplay, or the kid who cheats when no one is looking and has no moral code? The cheater does, that's who. The dynamic doesn't change as we grow older - only the game.
"They can only seize homes that aren't paid off, and those are the risks that people take when they sign mortgage loans."
lol...man, that's sad. No wonder the banks are raking us over the coals so successfully - even when they're caught in a massive national fraud people are out here posting silly nonsense like that. Might want to read some news, supercrazylegs... They've been caught lying to prospective home buyers (in regard to financing) on a MASSIVE scale. Many arrests and everything.
I'm all for spending the money the right way, and i agree there's money being spend horribly. But to deny that there's 2 sides of the coin is ridiculous. The spendings need to be reevaluated and the taxes raised for the richest
@sunnyvegas702 That's half correct. It's both. Raising the taxes of the super rich (who by the way, would still be super rich with the tax raise), would help. But you are partially right, since there's 100% money spend on the wrong things as well
@Darkeons but the main point is spending, I wouldn't mind taking from the rich if I thought it would help but it doesnt matter whether you print the money or take it from the rich, if you spend money that doesn't come back as a profit its a loss, whether spent on cocaine and hookers or spent shelter for the bums, its still a loss. Enough losses and we are all fucked because thats how an economy crashes.
@sunnyvegas702 Well if you spend the money on cocaine or hookers, then the drug dealer or hooker is gonna spend it on something else. So it's not completely true ;). It doesn't disappear out into thin air. There's all these super rich billionaires with more money then they could ever use. Each year their assets increase and it's not really a part of the economy anymore. Raising the taxes would solve some of it, and it would have ZERO affect on these rich people.
@Darkeons you still didn't think it through enough.Let me explain to you how it works.EVERY CRASH in the economy is a form of bad credit, meaning investors invested in something ppl themselves didn't want to buy, perfect example is dot com bubble, ppl made apps and other shit the public didn't want to buy, boom ,crash, it doesnt matter whether you print the money or tax it, you have to spend it a certain way,no shit the rich have cash, but if they spent it all it would crash the economy! Think!
@Darkeons yah hookers can spend it wherever but the world doesnt run on free spending, it runs on organized spending, like if I spent money on hookers and cocaine instead of fixing my car then im out of a car, times this by everyone, we're broke. And guess WHAT, every time you spend the gov TAXES, so YES it will disappear.
@sunnyvegas702 And how did you go from the government taxing to the money disappearing? Of course they can't spend it all. But if they are taxed 5% more, they will STILL be filthy rich, AND there would be money for universal healthcare, better educational system, better public transportation, paying off debt, and so on. There's a reason countries with higher taxes are ranked higher in general when it comes to those things. I mean it's not rocket science.
@Darkeons THROWING MONEY AT THINGS DOESNT FIX PROBLEMS, stop taking the lazy approach, yah I KNOW that you can take money from the rich and they will be STILL rich but to solve problems require peoples involvement, its not an easy thing. MORE MONEY doesnt not equal MORE success. Apple doesnt spend the most money and they have more money than the US government, because they CREATE wealth.
@sunnyvegas702 Yes... apple create wealth for the people with the stocks!!. That's IT!!! do you think the employees have become more wealthy? They might have increased and created more jobs. But that's a whole other debate. You are mixing things up here. Let's say apple paid 5% more in tax, would that change their success? Would they be reluctant to create new products?
And guess what. IT DOES HELP throwing money at the schools, at the hospitals and so on and on. It really DOES!
@sunnyvegas702 And let me ask you something. Are you saying that the taxing of the rich has no influence at all? Let's say we lowered the tax for the rich. Would it have NO affect at all? Just like you're saying raising it wouldnt?
@Darkeons Im saying focus on spending, and you wouldn't even have to tax the rich much at all. I am not saying not taxing the rich fixes things, I am saying people have to spend time figuring out problems. Remember an economy is just ppl trading services and products, the better we do it, everyone wins, but you cant force a product on ppl. like imagine being taxed to support a musician no one wants to buy, that type of shit fucks the economy up. The rich arent the reason i am rich or poor.
Could you please just answer my previous question. Are you saying that lowering the tax or raising the tax for the richest, wouldn't matter no matter what. If we did the opposite of my suggestion and instead lowered the taxes for the riches by about 5%, are you saying that won't have an affect at all? It will all be the same no matter what % the richest pay?
@Darkeons Yah basically even if you got more money it wouldn't help as much as you want to, lowering taxes doesn't automatically mean helping, but I am just saying because you raise a lot of taxes it doesnt actually help in the ratio you raised it. you will still have the same problems, raise or lower, you have to restructure how things are spent and thats how you fix things.
@sunnyvegas702 But that makes no sense. Of course raising the taxes would help. It has helped in the past? I mean look back at the last 80 years of american tax history and you'll see that it DOES in fact help. 5% would help tremendously. But of course, on top of that you have to restructure spendings as well. Like i said, it's a combination. But to deny that raising that taxes of the super rich wouldn't help, is just not true. It is equally as important as restructuring spendings
How on earth can u believe that? How can u possibly believe that the people who own our politicians & write 'our' legislation aren't responsible for the dynamics of the economy? What, u think the wealthy want a level playing field? 'Well, i have mine, but it's only fair that i give another person the chance to take it. There's enough for all!' Absurd. America's class system is a pyramid, & the ones on top intend to stay there.
@mountainunion cuz you dont understand the fact an economy is TRADING SERVICES , my ability to produce is ON ME. if I have a skill everyone wants, that makes me wealthy. If I grow apples as a farmer how did i TAKE from anyone. your acting like all of our skills our equal in society when they are not, and we dont value them equally. As long as it takes people to produce things they will work under their terms to trade services. stop acting like printing monet creates wealth.
How are you getting your apples to market? If the bridge between your apples and the market collaspes because we haven't raised the taxes to be able to get the supplies, hire workers and materials to either fix the bridge OR replace the bridge. You may have apples, but without the road, the bridge and infrastructure that taxes and government programs that maintain and fix them, your apples may as well rot on the tree for all the good they will do you.
@bluemahajer Yah but you cant hire ppl to fix the bridge if they dont know how to fix it. ALL SKILLS are learned by a self commitment to learn. Stop acting like spending more money on infrastructure means better results, better management does. Apple has more money than the US government, study that concept and you will learn something.
@sunnyvegas702 Really?!. Wow so I guess everyone can cease going to college because we don't need engineers and scientists giving us better ways of building a bridge or paving it or retarding oxidation. Many of these advances are with joint private and public sector grants. And then putting people to work to pave that bridge or counter the rust and pay for the people who go inspect that bridge to make sure it's sound . but according to you better management takes no money either
@bluemahajer better management TAKES NO MONEY, think about this, the scientists at microsoft and apple have the SAME knowledge, its just that apple organizes their skills more effectively to produce something society values.Making money takes creativity something that cant be taught in school.stop thinking that if you educate everyone then everything will be hunk dory. You still have to figure out who works with who and at what cost, its something that takes involvement by society and not taxing.
@sunnyvegas702 "Stop thinking that if you educate everyone then everything will be hunk dory." - I'd like to see the world you think think you'll see if your were to stop education of our youth. The managerial skills you praise comes from education. And creativity flows from educational programs that promote it, unfortunately those programs are also the first on the chopping block of any school trying to continue under the mandates of cuts and standardization. True education is where you start.
@BeautifulFreakProd if it just education then why does llil wayne make more money than doctors huh? education is HALF of it , but it has to be education PEOPLE VALUE, just knowing something doesnt mean shit, what makes you think the current system of education is effective in teaching what we value? again, the ppl at apple and microsoft have the SAME knowledge , apple is just more creative to use it to make money. THATS something you cant teach in school.
@ladybugmagick he has the logical thought process of a damp sponge. Also, if he hates the rich for whatever incoherent reason, shouldn't he voluntarily give up his millions of dollars to the government or some charity? He's another millionaire Hollywood hypocrite.
He is donating his time, and I am sure he makes many charitable donations.
You don't just arbitrarily donate to the government. And while donating to charities is fantastic, we really should have our taxes take care of these needs and programs, like so many other civilized countries do.
@ladybugmagick You are sure he makes many charitable donations, as am I, but we still don't know for sure.
And there's nothing wrong with charities. I think it would be easier to be charitable if we weren't taxed like crazy and if we weren't in so many wars. Apparently, we have higher taxes than many European countries.
Only idiots would consider common sense, a Harvard education, and a great vocabulary to be "elistist garbage", which is why we desperately need to protect education programs. Otherwise we end up with random people posting inane absurdities on youtube, who will inevitably wind up voting against their own interests. Over, and over again.
Wow, typical liberal ignoramus - people are paying more than ever before (all taxes included), why don't we tax this idiot's wealth and everyone in Hollywood - see how they recoil.
Many liberal millionaires and actors have already signed petitions saying they want to pay more in taxes. Where have you been?
I can see where some people may flinch at $250,000, but, taxing at a million and above is the right thing to do, in order for proportionate shared sacrifice.
Before you call him an ignoramus - you realize he went to Harvard, don't you?
In 2009, 1400 millionaires are on record of paying NOTHING in taxes. Nothing. Shouldn't that make you recoil?
I just love liberals that are fast and loose with other people's money. He can donate any amount over on his taxes he wants and I'm sure the government would take it. I'll bet he doesn't pay one cent more than he has too. The guy doesn't get it. Just keep rasing taxes and the government will just continue to spend any extra they get. The problem he doesn't see, is raising taxes in a down economy is simply the wrong thing to do. Like his president he doesn't have a clue.
Like yourself, the three people who gave you a thumbs up have no clue.
I can only assume you are not collecting any sort of unemployment, disability, food stamps, subsidized healthcare, etc. And on that note, I would further assume you are not using any public roads and your kids must not be in public schools.
I don't want you playing fast and loose with my money.
@ladybugmagick You would be correct ladybug. I don't draw unemployment, Never have. Or disability, food stamps, subsidized healthcare ect. And yes I do use public roads and my kids did go to government schools of which I pay taxes for. Basic needs of the country as far as roads, military ect are the role of government. But an ever expanding government taxing us more, regulating us more and spending our childrens future, is something we don't need. I'm not a fan of cradle to grave government.
@AMXBOY i agree that just simply raising taxes doesnt solve the issue. simple economics state that when in a recession, a government must raise taxes but must also cut spending as well. james buchanan stated that policy, in case your wondering where i got that from. it must be from both sides, and its quite simply comes down to simple finances, if i owe 100 dollars from last months bills, i just cut out things i dont need and find more ways to bring in money.
@drumsnhockey3 however, we are cutting from the wrong sector, medicaid, medicare, social security and other social programs should not be cut bc they are programs that help millions survive. we should be cutting from over-saturated programs like defense and education. if we cut half of what we spend on defense, we would still spend more than the world does collectively on their military and education should be restructured in how the money is spent, not simply given a blank check.
@drumsnhockey3 Sorry, I never stated that we should raise taxes at all. You don't raise taxes when we are in the middle of a economic down turn. The government spends too much money already. Spending cuts and getting rid of programs that just waste money is what we to do. We need a major tax change in our system. HR 25 is the answer but the liberals won't ever consider it, because it takes their power away from them. If you are not famliar with HR 25 it's the FairTax bill.
"fair" tax? U mean a regressive flat tax. A tax applied to everyone equally... So that means it's fair, right? Wrong. ! person has $20 million in the bank and buys a new chevy...He pays Y% of his total net worth. Never feels it, because he has $20 mil in the bank. A working American buys the same chevy, pays the same tax, but as someone who WORKS FOR A LIVING he's just paid out Yx10% of his total net worth. U know who pushes the flat tax? Rich guys, and the suckers that listen to 'em.
@mountainunion I would suggest that you read the FairTax book before you make a ridiculous comment like that. If the rich guy with $20 mil in the bank buys a car now, what does he pay? 7% The guy getting a weekly pay check keeps ALL of his pay check. I guess you forgot to mention that part huh? Read the book clown and maybe you'll get it. You also don't seem to grasp the fact that more industry would migrate to the US as a result of the FairTax. Your comments are typical liberal BS.
@AMXBOY@AMXBOY yeah i read into the fairtax bill and eliminating income and estate taxes and dumping it all on to sales tax isnt a good idea. it hurts the incentive for people to purchase goods, and for the government to make the money necessary to maintain its essential functions, the sales tax would have to be extravagantly high.
@drumsnhockey3 cont. : this in turn would increase the incentives for companies and consumers to buy goods outside of the U.S. to avoid the taxes which would have very negative effects on the progress of blue chip companies, small companies etc. again, i agree that in certain sectors we need to cut spending and unnecessary programs but a raise in taxes, especially on the upper class, is imperative for the US economy to begin to recover
@drumsnhockey3 "I read into the fairtax bill" Honesty, reading your comments here tells me you didn't read into the fairtax bill at all, much less the fairtax book. People are going to buy stuff regardless. Eliminating tax compliance cost, taxing illegals, keeping all of your earned income, bringing back jobs to this country. Sounds a lot better than what's going on now. There will be more than enough income for the governmnt to maintain its essential functions. Actually a lot more.
@AMXBOY "people are going to buy stuff regardless" yes but they wont be buying it from america if you hike up sales tax. this bill ignores the fact of how globalized and complex the modern economy is. if this bill passed, american people would not buy american goods bc of the sales tax and their dollars would go outside of the U.S. this causes supply and demand to drop dramatically which then causes unemployment to soar. i respect your opinion but i do not think this is a good idea
Damon is talking out of his ass. get informed if you are going to be a talking head. "I don't mind paying more for taxes" yea right - home many tax incentives do the movies he make take advantage of. How about himself? I am sure he uses all kinds of tax lawyers and accountants to pay the least amount of tax possible.
Just because he didn't use his tax cut to start a small business does not mean no one did.
@dbotari And you say Damon is talking out of his ass...
Show me real, reputable scientific studies that prove tax cuts create jobs.
I'll be waiting. In the mean time, try not to get too distracted by the flourishing economy and job market created after the tax cuts put in under the Bush administration.
I call on Matt Damon (and any other stupid actor making ungodly amounts of money) to stop taking tax loopholes and write offs and pay their FULL 36% federal tax - and show us their f*ing returns. Set the example, you blowhard piece of shit, and then we'll talk.
FUCK Matt Damon - The same Matt Damon that is blowing hundreds of thousands of dollars on illegal poker games with A-Rod, Toby Mcguire, and Ben Affleck. Who the fuck does he think he is to "speak his mind" when he's blowing cash on cocaine and poker like the rest of us American citizens.
"I did not start a business with my tax break and I don't know anyone who would. You walk down 5th Avenue, there's no sense of sacrifice." - FUCK YOU - you blew it on all poker. Shut up and act moron.
@BoredomCorner : Too many to count. Turn on ESPN or Google News search "Alex Rodriguez Matt Damon Poker". All the articles are about A-Rod because people couldn't care less about Matt Damon.
This motherfucker is high as giraffe cock!!! Bitch if you want to voluntarily send in 50% of your income go right the fuck ahead! Nobody is stopping you, but god damnit don't demand that my money be stolen from me!!!! Give us one long lasting example of how extensive taxation has proven to be good for productive society!
Matt should give all of his away he says i would pay more in taxes but he takes every tax loop hole he can take . He is so good on camera

"Everybody's socking their money away."
You mean putting it in a bank which invests the money in companies that then use said "socked away" money to buy labor (aka: CREATE JOBS). Stupid fucking idiot. Your money isn't sitting under a mattress asshole. I can't even believe how ignorant this piece of shit is.
cvict6 3 months ago
But the banks AREN'T lending money. I just tried to get a $7000 secured loan to re-side my home. Even putting up more than enough collateral wasn't good enough to get the loan. When I spoke to my siding contractor, he said he just went through the same thing trying to finance a new work truck. Banks aren't lending to anyone. Here in Wisconsin where I am, businesses are closing all the time. I can't remember the last time I saw a new business open up.

"But the banks AREN'T lending money."

2) Have you ever heard of the expression "throwing good money after bad"?
gideondavid30 5 months ago
@gideondavid30 1: if you dont tax Apple, the money goes to laying off workers anyway, simply because paying people in Bangledesh will always be cheaper than it is to pay them here in the US, and those cheap Asians cant unionize (its illegal in that corrupt state) so they cant fight for higher wages.
2: if you dont tax anybody, we wont be able to create any social welfare net. let the poor starve in winter, fuck them, theyre obviously lazy and worthless souls, if they arent millionares.
dchris1990 5 months ago
1) Apple provides products that people want. That is its number one goal. A company does not come into existence to provide jobs. A job is a means to an end nothing more. Jobs that go overseas make room for DIFFERENT jobs at home. The economy is global now their no stopping it (that includes tariffs, restrictions to trade, wage controls, or government intervention). Besides, most jobs going overseas are UNDESIRABLE anyways.
gideondavid30 5 months ago
2) Strawman. You liberals and your strawman (the SKY is falling OMG!!!). First, High taxation hurts everybody but the very rich. Second, let the states create the social wefare nets not the federal government, that way the damage is done locally and not nationally. Third, by getting government out the economy prices of goods are lowered and jobs are created (that includes healthcare, college tuition, etc)

49 percent of the country doesn't pay taxes. Its "criminal" that the anyone has to give up 53 percent of their earnings to the country while 49 percent of the country pays zero. No one creates jobs with their money in the upper class? Matt, you sound very ignorant. It's easy for Millionaire Matt Damon to make these claims that people who make 250k should pay 53 percent of their income to the government, but that is crippling for people with a big family.
burgerboot 5 months ago
@burgerboot "49 percent of the country doesn't pay taxes"? I think you mean 49% of the country doesn't pay federal income taxes. Specifically, they can push their effective tax rate down to 0 with exemptions for stuff like, you know, having kids to feed. They do, however, still pay payroll taxes like SS and Medicare, not to mention sales taxes, food taxes, property taxes (if they actually own their home), etc. And you say Matt Damon is the ignorant one... P.S. Who said anything about 53%?

They've also been caught seizing homes they don't own - numerous instances of that in the last 5 or 6 years.
I don't understand the delusion that corporations are to be trusted, Who rises to the top of corporations/banks? Answer this: Who wins when children play board games? I'm all for spending the money the right way, and i agree there's money being spend horribly. But to deny that there's 2 sides of the coin is ridiculous. The spendings need to be reevaluated and the taxes raised for the richest
Darkeons 6 months ago 2
The problem isnt taxing the problem is spending, if you had spending done more effectively then you wouldn't have to tax as much
sunnyvegas702 6 months ago
@sunnyvegas702 That's half correct. It's both. Raising the taxes of the super rich (who by the way, would still be super rich with the tax raise), would help. But you are partially right, since there's 100% money spend on the wrong things as well
Darkeons 6 months ago
@Darkeons but the main point is spending, I wouldn't mind taking from the rich if I thought it would help but it doesnt matter whether you print the money or take it from the rich, if you spend money that doesn't come back as a profit its a loss, whether spent on cocaine and hookers or spent shelter for the bums, its still a loss. Enough losses and we are all fucked because thats how an economy crashes.
sunnyvegas702 6 months ago
@sunnyvegas702 Well if you spend the money on cocaine or hookers, then the drug dealer or hooker is gonna spend it on something else. So it's not completely true ;). It doesn't disappear out into thin air. There's all these super rich billionaires with more money then they could ever use. Each year their assets increase and it's not really a part of the economy anymore. Raising the taxes would solve some of it, and it would have ZERO affect on these rich people.
Darkeons 6 months ago 2
@Darkeons you still didn't think it through enough.Let me explain to you how it works.EVERY CRASH in the economy is a form of bad credit, meaning investors invested in something ppl themselves didn't want to buy, perfect example is dot com bubble, ppl made apps and other shit the public didn't want to buy, boom ,crash, it doesnt matter whether you print the money or tax it, you have to spend it a certain way,no shit the rich have cash, but if they spent it all it would crash the economy! Think!
sunnyvegas702 6 months ago
@Darkeons yah hookers can spend it wherever but the world doesnt run on free spending, it runs on organized spending, like if I spent money on hookers and cocaine instead of fixing my car then im out of a car, times this by everyone, we're broke. And guess WHAT, every time you spend the gov TAXES, so YES it will disappear.
sunnyvegas702 6 months ago
@sunnyvegas702 And how did you go from the government taxing to the money disappearing? Of course they can't spend it all. But if they are taxed 5% more, they will STILL be filthy rich, AND there would be money for universal healthcare, better educational system, better public transportation, paying off debt, and so on. There's a reason countries with higher taxes are ranked higher in general when it comes to those things. I mean it's not rocket science.
Darkeons 6 months ago
@Darkeons THROWING MONEY AT THINGS DOESNT FIX PROBLEMS, stop taking the lazy approach, yah I KNOW that you can take money from the rich and they will be STILL rich but to solve problems require peoples involvement, its not an easy thing. MORE MONEY doesnt not equal MORE success. Apple doesnt spend the most money and they have more money than the US government, because they CREATE wealth.
sunnyvegas702 6 months ago
@sunnyvegas702 Yes... apple create wealth for the people with the stocks!!. That's IT!!! do you think the employees have become more wealthy? They might have increased and created more jobs. But that's a whole other debate. You are mixing things up here. Let's say apple paid 5% more in tax, would that change their success? Would they be reluctant to create new products?
And guess what. IT DOES HELP throwing money at the schools, at the hospitals and so on and on. It really DOES!
Darkeons 6 months ago 6
@sunnyvegas702 And let me ask you something. Are you saying that the taxing of the rich has no influence at all? Let's say we lowered the tax for the rich. Would it have NO affect at all? Just like you're saying raising it wouldnt?
Darkeons 6 months ago
@Darkeons Im saying focus on spending, and you wouldn't even have to tax the rich much at all. I am not saying not taxing the rich fixes things, I am saying people have to spend time figuring out problems. Remember an economy is just ppl trading services and products, the better we do it, everyone wins, but you cant force a product on ppl. like imagine being taxed to support a musician no one wants to buy, that type of shit fucks the economy up. The rich arent the reason i am rich or poor.
sunnyvegas702 6 months ago
@sunnyvegas702
Darkeons 6 months ago
@Darkeons Yah basically even if you got more money it wouldn't help as much as you want to, lowering taxes doesn't automatically mean helping, but I am just saying because you raise a lot of taxes it doesnt actually help in the ratio you raised it. you will still have the same problems, raise or lower, you have to restructure how things are spent and thats how you fix things.
sunnyvegas702 6 months ago
@sunnyvegas702 But that makes no sense. Of course raising the taxes would help. It has helped in the past? I mean look back at the last 80 years of american tax history and you'll see that it DOES in fact help. 5% would help tremendously. But of course, on top of that you have to restructure spendings as well. Like i said, it's a combination. But to deny that raising that taxes of the super rich wouldn't help, is just not true. It is equally as important as restructuring spendings
Darkeons 6 months ago 2
@sunnyvegas702
"The rich arent the reason i am rich or poor."
America's class system is a pyramid, & the ones on top intend to stay there.
mountainunion 6 months ago
@mountainunion cuz you dont understand the fact an economy is TRADING SERVICES , my ability to produce is ON ME. if I have a skill everyone wants, that makes me wealthy. If I grow apples as a farmer how did i TAKE from anyone. your acting like all of our skills our equal in society when they are not, and we dont value them equally. As long as it takes people to produce things they will work under their terms to trade services. stop acting like printing monet creates wealth.
sunnyvegas702 6 months ago
@sunnyvegas702
How are you getting your apples to market? If the bridge between your apples and the market collaspes because we haven't raised the taxes to be able to get the supplies, hire workers and materials to either fix the bridge OR replace the bridge. You may have apples, but without the road, the bridge and infrastructure that taxes and government programs that maintain and fix them, your apples may as well rot on the tree for all the good they will do you.
bluemahajer 6 months ago
@bluemahajer Yah but you cant hire ppl to fix the bridge if they dont know how to fix it. ALL SKILLS are learned by a self commitment to learn. Stop acting like spending more money on infrastructure means better results, better management does. Apple has more money than the US government, study that concept and you will learn something.
sunnyvegas702 6 months ago
@sunnyvegas702 Really?!. Wow so I guess everyone can cease going to college because we don't need engineers and scientists giving us better ways of building a bridge or paving it or retarding oxidation. Many of these advances are with joint private and public sector grants. And then putting people to work to pave that bridge or counter the rust and pay for the people who go inspect that bridge to make sure it's sound . but according to you better management takes no money either
bluemahajer 6 months ago
@bluemahajer better management TAKES NO MONEY, think about this, the scientists at microsoft and apple have the SAME knowledge, its just that apple organizes their skills more effectively to produce something society values.Making money takes creativity something that cant be taught in school.stop thinking that if you educate everyone then everything will be hunk dory. You still have to figure out who works with who and at what cost, its something that takes involvement by society and not taxing.
sunnyvegas702 6 months ago
@sunnyvegas702 "Stop thinking that if you educate everyone then everything will be hunk dory." - I'd like to see the world you think think you'll see if your were to stop education of our youth. The managerial skills you praise comes from education. And creativity flows from educational programs that promote it, unfortunately those programs are also the first on the chopping block of any school trying to continue under the mandates of cuts and standardization. True education is where you start.
BeautifulFreakProd 6 months ago
@BeautifulFreakProd if it just education then why does llil wayne make more money than doctors huh? education is HALF of it , but it has to be education PEOPLE VALUE, just knowing something doesnt mean shit, what makes you think the current system of education is effective in teaching what we value? again, the ppl at apple and microsoft have the SAME knowledge , apple is just more creative to use it to make money. THATS something you cant teach in school.

@signinforme1234
He does want that taxed. He, alone, can't tell congress what to do, he is just one vote.
ladybugmagick 6 months ago
Wow, typical liberal ignoramus - people are paying more than ever before (all taxes included), why don't we tax this idiot's wealth and everyone in Hollywood - see how they recoil.
signinforme1234 6 months ago
@signinforme1234

Mett should really put his money wear his mouth is!!
888tho 6 months ago
@888tho
Which is why he said, "raise taxes for the really rich - for guys like me."
His money is WHERE is his mouth is, hence him being against those tax breaks.
ladybugmagick 6 months ago
@ladybugmagick Still a down economy and raising taxes don't mix and that will just make it worst too! Matt Damon doesn't get it!
888tho 6 months ago
@TherrienBT Do you make more then 250,000$ a year?
helloecc 6 months ago
I just love liberals that are fast and loose with other people's money. He can donate any amount over on his taxes he wants and I'm sure the government would take it. I'll bet he doesn't pay one cent more than he has too. The guy doesn't get it. Just keep rasing taxes and the government will just continue to spend any extra they get. The problem he doesn't see, is raising taxes in a down economy is simply the wrong thing to do. Like his president he doesn't have a clue.
AMXBOY 6 months ago
@AMXBOY
Like yourself, the three people who gave you a thumbs up have no clue.
I can only assume you are not collecting any sort of unemployment, disability, food stamps, subsidized healthcare, etc. And on that note, I would further assume you are not using any public roads and your kids must not be in public schools.
I don't want you playing fast and loose with my money.
ladybugmagick 6 months ago
@ladybugmagick You would be correct ladybug. I don't draw unemployment, Never have. Or disability, food stamps, subsidized healthcare ect. And yes I do use public roads and my kids did go to government schools of which I pay taxes for. Basic needs of the country as far as roads, military ect are the role of government. But an ever expanding government taxing us more, regulating us more and spending our childrens future, is something we don't need. I'm not a fan of cradle to grave government.
AMXBOY 6 months ago
@AMXBOY i agree that just simply raising taxes doesnt solve the issue. simple economics state that when in a recession, a government must raise taxes but must also cut spending as well. james buchanan stated that policy, in case your wondering where i got that from. it must be from both sides, and its quite simply comes down to simple finances, if i owe 100 dollars from last months bills, i just cut out things i dont need and find more ways to bring in money.
drumsnhockey3 6 months ago
@drumsnhockey3 however, we are cutting from the wrong sector, medicaid, medicare, social security and other social programs should not be cut bc they are programs that help millions survive. we should be cutting from over-saturated programs like defense and education. if we cut half of what we spend on defense, we would still spend more than the world does collectively on their military and education should be restructured in how the money is spent, not simply given a blank check.
drumsnhockey3 6 months ago
@drumsnhockey3 Sorry, I never stated that we should raise taxes at all. You don't raise taxes when we are in the middle of a economic down turn. The government spends too much money already. Spending cuts and getting rid of programs that just waste money is what we to do. We need a major tax change in our system. HR 25 is the answer but the liberals won't ever consider it, because it takes their power away from them. If you are not famliar with HR 25 it's the FairTax bill.
AMXBOY 6 months ago
@AMXBOY
Rich guys, and the suckers that listen to 'em.
mountainunion 6 months ago
@mountainunion I would suggest that you read the FairTax book before you make a ridiculous comment like that. If the rich guy with $20 mil in the bank buys a car now, what does he pay? 7% The guy getting a weekly pay check keeps ALL of his pay check. I guess you forgot to mention that part huh? Read the book clown and maybe you'll get it. You also don't seem to grasp the fact that more industry would migrate to the US as a result of the FairTax. Your comments are typical liberal BS.
AMXBOY 6 months ago
@AMXBOY @AMXBOY yeah i read into the fairtax bill and eliminating income and estate taxes and dumping it all on to sales tax isnt a good idea. it hurts the incentive for people to purchase goods, and for the government to make the money necessary to maintain its essential functions, the sales tax would have to be extravagantly high.
drumsnhockey3 6 months ago
@drumsnhockey3 cont. : this in turn would increase the incentives for companies and consumers to buy goods outside of the U.S. to avoid the taxes which would have very negative effects on the progress of blue chip companies, small companies etc. again, i agree that in certain sectors we need to cut spending and unnecessary programs but a raise in taxes, especially on the upper class, is imperative for the US economy to begin to recover
drumsnhockey3 6 months ago
@drumsnhockey3 "I read into the fairtax bill" Honesty, reading your comments here tells me you didn't read into the fairtax bill at all, much less the fairtax book. People are going to buy stuff regardless. Eliminating tax compliance cost, taxing illegals, keeping all of your earned income, bringing back jobs to this country. Sounds a lot better than what's going on now. There will be more than enough income for the governmnt to maintain its essential functions. Actually a lot more.
AMXBOY 6 months ago
@AMXBOY "people are going to buy stuff regardless" yes but they wont be buying it from america if you hike up sales tax. this bill ignores the fact of how globalized and complex the modern economy is. if this bill passed, american people would not buy american goods bc of the sales tax and their dollars would go outside of the U.S. this causes supply and demand to drop dramatically which then causes unemployment to soar. i respect your opinion but i do not think this is a good idea

He speaks as well as Obama does without a script.

@mborofire
He is speaking genuinely off the cuff.
So?
ladybugmagick 6 months ago
Damon is talking out of his ass. get informed if you are going to be a talking head. "I don't mind paying more for taxes" yea right - home many tax incentives do the movies he make take advantage of. How about himself? I am sure he uses all kinds of tax lawyers and accountants to pay the least amount of tax possible.
Just because he didn't use his tax cut to start a small business does not mean no one did.
dbotari 6 months ago
@dbotari And you say Damon is talking out of his ass...
Show me real, reputable scientific studies that prove tax cuts create jobs.
I'll be waiting. In the mean time, try not to get too distracted by the flourishing economy and job market created after the tax cuts put in under the Bush administration.
Kawmun 6 months ago
@dbotari
Okay, the proof is in the pudding, though. How many small businesses have been created now since the tax cuts were extended?
ladybugmagick 6 months ago
I call on Matt Damon (and any other stupid actor making ungodly amounts of money) to stop taking tax loopholes and write offs and pay their FULL 36% federal tax - and show us their f*ing returns. Set the example, you blowhard piece of shit, and then we'll talk.

@thejimmyzshow
And I challenge the same to the CEOs of all the blue chip corporations, and of the republicans in office.
ladybugmagick 6 months ago
@ladybugmagick Why? Are they claiming that they're not taxed enough like Damon and Obama and the rest of the hypocritical left?
thejimmyzshow 6 months ago
FUCK Matt Damon - The same Matt Damon that is blowing hundreds of thousands of dollars on illegal poker games with A-Rod, Toby Mcguire, and Ben Affleck. Who the fuck does he think he is to "speak his mind" when he's blowing cash on cocaine and poker like the rest of us American citizens.
"I did not start a business with my tax break and I don't know anyone who would. You walk down 5th Avenue, there's no sense of sacrifice." - FUCK YOU - you blew it on all poker. Shut up and act moron.

@zac199gator Um, illegal poker games? Cite your source.
