It will run on vista 64 and win7 64 with updated software and drivers. I am constantly recording onto my win7 rc htpc. Check AVS forums and the happaugue website for more info on this product.
I understand this captures HD content but, does it also capture Standard Definition content? i.e. DVD-friendly MPEG2?
Or, does it only capture as H.264?
Will i have to convert every recording back to MPEG2?
Also, are there interlace/de-interlace options? 4:3 and 16:9 input options? Can I keep the input audio as PCM .WAV 16 Bit 48Khz or does this unit convert incoming signal to MP3 & OGG? Thanks :)
I thought buying the Hauppauge HD PVR might prove useful, in the long term? In the short term, I could use it to capture standard defintion (from my Sat Box) via RGB SCART to Component > H.264 > edit in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 > save file as AVI, DivX, MPEG2 etc etc. Right?
You are probably aware that any dropped frames at the highest resolution is probably because you are running windows in a mac. I dont have parallels but I have Fusion. When I run video on my windows pc, vista or XP inside the mac, I dont expect the frame rate of running on the same hardware minus the mac below it. The virtualization is taking alot of that power away already.
I had no issues at all installing this tv card under Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 except for the HD IR Blaster but I have never gotten any IR Blaster working right so it might be my cable box. I didn't use anything except for the stuff that came on the CD.
Keep in mind that the HD-PVR is a capture device. So any dropped frames or problems with playback may not be related to the HD-PVR.
What was the problem setting it up under Vista? I've installed it on a Vista machine recently without problems. But I was using the 1.0 Drivers released with the newer batch of HD-PVRs. Perhaps the first run had a different firmware version.
hey can i record in any program ?? or i need to install the drivers?

This is for H.264. If you want to make DVDs there are better products out there.

What products are better?

it works best on Vista 32 bit (Software that is). But hardware will work best with the 64 bit because of the HD quality files.
