All teams did it: Williams (Patrese for Mansell - France 92 and Frentzen for Villeneuve in 97), Jordan (R. Schumacher & Hill at Spa 98), Ferrari (in 99 when both Sato and Schumi gave wins to Irvine) and McLaren (Coulthard for Hakkinen in 98).
The only difference is that here Barrichello tried to play victim here, while others accepted it.

Frentzen did it for Villeneuve in 97. Ralf Schumacher did it for Hill in 98. Massa did it for Alonso in 10/11. Webber was asked to do it for Vettel at Silverstone. Herbert did it for Alesi in 98. Fisichella did it for Alonso in 06. Piquet very much did it for Alonso in 08. Schumacher and Salo did it for Irvine in 99.

What's the difference? Massa let Raikkönen pass last year for the championship, Kovalainen let Hamilton pass numerous times this year for the championship, just as Barrichello let Schumacher pass for the championship. I remember when this happened and i thought 'well barichello was obeying orders' but then schumacher had the nerve to celebrate on the podium as if he deserved to win!

@beforsey No he didn't. He made Rubens stand on the top step of the podium, which is what landed Ferrari in trouble as it broke FIA protocol. They were subsequently fined $1million for bringing the sport into disrepute.
Stupid, really. They are autonomous - they can make their own decisions. Lots of races have been fixed. It could have been better orchestrated, though.

Don't forget McLaren did the same thing in Australia a couple of years back, even though their was a misjudgement from Hakkinen going in to the pits, Coulthard let him back in the lead through team orders

@novityn Irvine's moved over for Schumacher as well. 1999 French Grand Prix, Irvine gave Schumacher his 5th place. Ironically, that one point given in vain might have helped Irvine win the championship over Hakkinen, making Irvine Ferrari's first WDC since 1979. Team orders bit Ferrari in the ass.

You could say that, but think, in that moment, your driving along, and your team mate all of a sudden slows. Unless the team radioed you saying that he is going to slow so you can win, you dont know if there is a problem, or what.

Jeez, this isn't so bad. The same happened last year in Brazil when Raikkonen passed Massa. And nobody talks about that. But since a lot of people just love to keep bashing Ferrari and Schumacher, it's a bad thing. It's for the championship. Or should Ferrari let Massa race in Brazil for the win? No. Should Ferrari let Barrichello race for the win, while Schumacher could be champion within the next two races? No.

You fucking idiot. Massa didnt gave him way on the last lap finish line, like Barrichello gave in austria 02. And in that season Michael was already in strong lead and would eventually won the championship without this kind of help. And Ferrari assholes did this 2 TIMES IN A ROW, first in 01 and then 02 on THE SAME CIRCUIT. Horrible, this video makes me throw up.

What's the difference? Massa let Raikkönen pass last year for the championship, Kovalainen let Hamilton pass numerous times this year for the championship, just as Barrichello let Schumacher pass for the championship. You can't blame Ferrari for not taking any chances, since they came back a lot of times from a lost position in the championship and themselves lost a big lead in the championship too.

I believe it was Ferrari's decision without direct influences from Schumi himself. I'm pretty sure he was quite happy to take second. The car was so dominant that year anyway, he had no major rivals from other teams, except Coutlhard maybe, for a while...
