  • You talk about "Alpha to Selection" at around the 5:00 mark... at 5:08 you say that "Alpha is text." Although in this particular instance, the alpha was text, "Alpha" refers to the Alpha channel of the current layer. This is ANY portion of the layer which is not background. For instance, if you create a shape on a layer and "Alpha to Selection" the layer, the shape will be highlighted.

    So, "Alpha" refers to a channel within the layer, not "text".

    Still, an excellent tutorial.

  • at the end, instead of an overlay you should have dragged the layer and dropped it under the text. Or just did the text last.

  • Thanks Jay, good tutorial and it came at a good time. I was looking to do something with GIMP but just didn't have any basics down and this helped a bunch. Too bad YouTube don't have a better quality viewer to see the details like VIMEO. Have you an account there as well?
