  • Lovely!

  • You are a master sir...i've viewed and enjoyed this numerous times...hope one day ill develope a fraction of the skill you have.

  • @79ramjam And you, sir, are far too kind! But thank you very much for your extremely warm comment !

  • Just awesome!

  • Good picking man! Bet you've had some classical guitar training

  • @micmoable self taught my friend!

  • @0ldfinger Dang nice talent you have--a friend of mine learned a lot by tablature but I've never even learned tablature I just do my picking by ear--but I ain't that good and am trying to learn as I go along and am bad about playing GCD pattern and other simple chords--I can play some bluesey stuff and a few country type sounding runs, etc.

  • sends my children to sleep nicely!! thank you so much!! i re\ally need to learn how to play this can you do va tutorial for it??

  • @ElisabethSladen1946 Hi there, I think I have the old tab somewhere that I based this one, would that be any good - if so I'll hunt it down. I think I'd be rubbish at doing a tutorial video :)

  • @0ldfinger that would be great thank you!! you never no, you might be good at doing a tutorial.

  • What a completely fabulous arrangement. My fingers are tingling to pick up the guitar and hammer away but I risk spoiling the lovely moment.

  • Love it.

  • Great Job Man!! , I just remembered this song from when I was a kid and having to sing it in choir ...forgot just how great it was/is ahah

  • @shredrix Thanks - it's the one everyone remembers from their childhood isn't it! I know it used to make me imagine some quite sinister teddy bears, disappearing into creepy, dark woods. I think one of them was carrying an axe.

  • wow that it just way to damn cool

    Awesome post

  • still my favorite version

  • @Nevyle Thank you!

  • How exciting..... just heard this for the 1st time, but surely not for the last time....

Especially the middle part so original....

    Chapeau !!

  • @Facteurish Thanks very much! I keep meaning to re-do it, as the sound quality is poor....

  • do you have any tabs for this?

  • WOW beautiful job. Thank you

  • @bluetempelton Thank you!! :)

  • i remember this. Anyone agree with me that the beggining of this sounds like "Gruntilda's Lair" from Banjo Kazooie???

  • @VGA322 I remember it too, it's just a little different though.

  • Very nice....hope you don't mind if I borrow a couple of those turn-arounds :)

  • @KathyRunkle Thank you very much! It's a great song, and musically for a children's song it has an interesting and complex structure. Which, I hasten to add, I made very little attempt to capture here! Best wishes.

  • I must have listened to this at least ten times over the last week, it's wonderfull.

  • That's really kind - thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • I have to admit. I really want an Mp3 of this performance now. It's been stuck in my head something awful ever since I listened to it. It's incredibly well done!

  • Very nice version and wonderful technique. Very articulated mids on that guitar. What is it? Huss & Dalton, Collings, Santa Cruz, Goodall? Never got a look at the headstock.

  • I wish! No , it's Freshman acoustic / electric. I bought it about 3 years back. I did try various different makes, and I was prepared to spend a bit more than I eventually did, but this one had the best overall range. The bass really pushes out too but you can't hear it on this recording. Thanks for your comment! :)

  • love this song !

    very well played !

Im gonna search me some tabs now :)

  • Thank you very much!

  • Very Sweet!

  • Congratulations! A superb version of a tune that is deceptively difficult to play - in fact, real a stinky-poo!

Did you ever hear Nic Jones' version, as used in a TV play in the early 80s about a school day-trip to the seaside? I think Nic was most reluctant to try this one live at folk clubs. I am not the slightest bit surprised!

    [Tyneside, England.]

  • Research: "Our Day Out" was the TV Play, first shown 28/12/77, BBC2. Details on Wiki. Written by Willy Russell - probably explains Nic + Bears.

Stop Press! The whole Play is on YouTube! Search for the title. Nic @ 4:06, Part 7 (over the credits).

  • Thanks for your comments and I have to agree, the section from about 1:13 to 1:20 is, for me anyway, a bugger! I will go and have a look for the Nic Jones' version now. Thanks again!!!

  • SUGAR WATER!

  • Your proposal is acceptable.

  • you made this lil variation up yourself?

  • Half and half! I had worked out the basis of it, found some of the chords on line, kept adding my own bits to it over time.

  • Nice job, very lovely!

  • Thanks very much!

  • this is amazing. I love it. :P

    <3 Thanks man xD

  • That was wonderful!!! Good memories with that song. My Uncle could play it on the guitar, paino, and harmonica. And at one time or another he played them all for me. Good Job
