@0ldfinger Dang nice talent you have--a friend of mine learned a lot by tablature but I've never even learned tablature I just do my picking by ear--but I ain't that good and am trying to learn as I go along and am bad about playing GCD pattern and other simple chords--I can play some bluesey stuff and a few country type sounding runs, etc.
@ElisabethSladen1946 Hi there, I think I have the old tab somewhere that I based this one, would that be any good - if so I'll hunt it down. I think I'd be rubbish at doing a tutorial video :)
@shredrix Thanks - it's the one everyone remembers from their childhood isn't it! I know it used to make me imagine some quite sinister teddy bears, disappearing into creepy, dark woods. I think one of them was carrying an axe.
@KathyRunkle Thank you very much! It's a great song, and musically for a children's song it has an interesting and complex structure. Which, I hasten to add, I made very little attempt to capture here! Best wishes.
I have to admit. I really want an Mp3 of this performance now. It's been stuck in my head something awful ever since I listened to it. It's incredibly well done!
Very nice version and wonderful technique. Very articulated mids on that guitar. What is it? Huss & Dalton, Collings, Santa Cruz, Goodall? Never got a look at the headstock.
I wish! No , it's Freshman acoustic / electric. I bought it about 3 years back. I did try various different makes, and I was prepared to spend a bit more than I eventually did, but this one had the best overall range. The bass really pushes out too but you can't hear it on this recording. Thanks for your comment! :)
Congratulations! A superb version of a tune that is deceptively difficult to play - in fact, real a stinky-poo!
Did you ever hear Nic Jones' version, as used in a TV play in the early 80s about a school day-trip to the seaside? I think Nic was most reluctant to try this one live at folk clubs. I am not the slightest bit surprised!
Thanks for your comments and I have to agree, the section from about 1:13 to 1:20 is, for me anyway, a bugger! I will go and have a look for the Nic Jones' version now. Thanks again!!!
That was wonderful!!! Good memories with that song. My Uncle could play it on the guitar, paino, and harmonica. And at one time or another he played them all for me. Good Job
dude u freakin kik ass!!! i demand you to make a how to vid!! ahaha....if u dont all my teddy bearz will turn evil and haunt you...lucky for you i dont have any aahahaha....awesome awesome so when you gunna make the video aahaha i joke i joke..ill jus learn iht off ur vid...wicked insane job man;)
Thanks so much! Don't have time to do a video, but I do have a (very) rough tab which gives you the basic notes....mrg me with your email if you want to give it a shot

What a completely fabulous arrangement. My fingers are tingling to pick up the guitar and hammer away but I risk spoiling the lovely moment.

Research: "Our Day Out" was the TV Play, first shown 28/12/77, BBC2. Details on Wiki. Written by Willy Russell - probably explains Nic + Bears.
Stop Press! The whole Play is on YouTube! Search for the title. Nic @ 4:06, Part 7 (over the credits).
