I think it would look better with more rocks at the bottom of the tank, to replace the absence of gravel. Like big and small smooth rocks. But not any colors from the rainbow, maybe just browns, grays, and whites.

also with having that type of filter sux you aare taking more of ytour water room up that leaves less for the turtles by having any thing in side so get nice can one that is floor type they do best and that basking should be a tank topper of some sort give them more room dang ...like i said before been raising them over 30 years

the fish won't harm your turtles but when the turtles get a bit bigger they will eat those fish.

@manouvras, the only thing wrong with having fish in the tank is having gold fish whos pee is toxic to some animals, ill need to do further reserch but i wouldnt have them together just in case

20 gallon is small compared to mines you need a really big tank if you want to keep turtles inless you get a musk which doesnt get that big but you still need a big tank.. try getting a tank off craigslist or something preferably 48 gallons or bigger

well first you need a uvb light so it can get calcium like it would in the swamps or so whatever turtle you have and also you need a basking light so it does not get shellrot and so it encourges it to leave the water and get dry once in a while and it is better for there shell the uvb light

Its because they need to bask absorb UVB rays. Those rays allow them to produce Vitamin D3 which helps in growing and also if they are sick it helps their immunity.

I'm pretty sure the guy put fish in there on purpose so the fish can be a food source and cleans up the tank when the owner feed other foods to the turtle. turtle tend to be messy eaters.

Those little turtles are sweet. How old are they? My tutle I have had him for about 7 months. He has grown..about 1/4 inch around and his marks on his rings show he has had a big growth ring.

I would go with something more natural like bamboo instead of plastic..and possibly put a total screen over them, the light seems to attract bugs for my turtle. I loved watching your turtles swim..they looked really happy..that is what counts.

I read where you have to have the light further away from the rocks than you have it? At least a foot and a half away.I accidently left mine on and I think my little Turtle Henry got a little sun ray burn from a purple light. I came back and it was on. I would suggest anyone using a UVB or a Black basking light put a time on it..they are to stay on only 10 minutes max.

Some bulbs (mainly from reptozilla) have shown high amounts of radiation that cause skin infection onto turtles so that's why I think he was a bit concerned since each UVB bulb has a certain distance it needs to be AWAY from the dock

I've never had goldfish in my turtle tank. I don't think they would jump on the turtle basking dock. When I was younger, my father had oscars and they jumped out of his tank because he didn't have a protectant screen top. Do your turtles nip at the goldfish? I've had snails and a sucker fish with my turtle before and he loved to nip at them. I would be careful. If any of the turtles start nipping, I would take the fish out. Have you thought of a name for your turtles?

well the size rule is for each inch of the turtle iz ten gallons so about a 40-50 gallons would probly do but i would recommend more as then you dont have to buy a tank ass often as they grow a lot lot bigger
