@KingYakko: Here's the thing, the Looney Tunes of the mid 60s weren't actually produced by Warner Bros. Their animation studio closed down and the Looney Tunes were outsourced to DePatie-Freeleng Enterprises (the same company that did The Pink Panther and a lot of the Dr. Seuss TV specials) who used the old studio as a base, and the cartoons were only DISTRIBUTED by Warner Bros.
The reason titles look the way they do are for two reasons; because modernist design was fashionable in the 1960's, and because it was more efficient to draw simpler shapes, for both time and money concerns.
I used to think this intro was creepy when I was a kid too! Thought I was the only one! I now enjoy watching them. Only thing I liked was the way the Cartoon writing went CartOOn at the end with the two OO twice.
Also when I was 4-5, in my room was a wallpaper border of loony toons characters, and Wile E Coyote face was one of them and that face, used to give me the creeps then.
The decline in quality began in the mid 50s - The beautifully-drawn backgrounds in the cartoons were being replaced by much starker images, and the characters themselves, by the 1960s, looked almost like children's drawings. To see Warner Brothers cartoons at their most beautiful, you'd have to go back to the studio's 1940s output.
@marksoutof10 i know what you mean, i used to watch tom and jerry in the 40s and 50s version but when it got to the 60s version it looked like childrens drawings
Has anyone noticed the art really sucked for Merrie Melodies in the 60s? This is a prime example. These intros don't even capture what these cartoons are about! It sounds like a bunch of freaky notes cobbled togther with half-assed animation flying around with lines or something. What happened WB? I'm glad this never caught on. It seems kinda 60s-ish though...So meh. Whatever.

These and the slightly older intros with the ringed background and the zooming WB shield were my favourites.

I liked all the intros before this one, This one looks lazy, horrid, and the music sound scary.
