If that had really happened at the circus, they wouldn't have told everybody to leave. They would have told them to stay where they were and wait to be searched and questioned.
And why the hell would Bond fly over kamal's place in a hot-air balloon? Was the MI6 suddenly out of helicopters?
I like this film some of the previous Roger Moore bond films had been lightweight and camp a bit but along with Live and let die this is the best Moore era bond film unfortunately the next instalment with Grce Jones was pretty dire.
Man this shit is so corny and cheesy. Girls in bikinis and scarfs fighting a battle and out comes a balloon with the british flag on it. Lmao "good ol brits to the rescue".
No more corny and cheesy than big Hollywood productions like "Independence Day" or any Michael Bay movie.
James Bond movies at this time were meant as entertainment and everybody involved took them lightly. Roger Moore himself considered Bond to be a "comicbook character" so that's how he played him.
This part with the bomb is great. One of the series' best and a great example of how to do a tense scene, period.
With the police close behind Bond goes to warn the general only to realize he's not going to get any help and if anything the General might actually try to stop him.
With 90 secs left Bond, has to cut through the circus, pursued by the very people he's trying to save, with almost no hope of getting there in time and thousands of lives on the line.
Sadly all that tension is missed in all of the Brosnan movies. I never once felt any excitement in "Goldeneye", which I think is just Bond causing mayhem, going into a car which later blows up, into a tank which later blows up, into a train which later blows up and flying a plane which, yes you guessed it, blows up. They even tried to better the parachute scene from Moonraker and didn't create half the tension.
You know as a hard core Bond fan, i sometimes give Roger Moore a bad rap even though i enjoy his films a lot. And even though the clown costume itself is stupid, he really showed some good acting during the bomb scene. That was really intense!
commander, some nut went through here in a stolen car. He want's the base commander And he's wearing a RED shirt!

The reboot was long overdue.

Oh yeah, he was stuck inside a helicopter too, which he had to get out before it blows up. Sigh.
How many times did they want to create tension by blowing vehicles up?
