@johnthreesixteen316 You are OBVIOUSLY avoiding Jesus' Clear words, the fact that HE named Simon KEPHA=ROCK, saying that He would bulid HIS CHURCH upon That KEPHA=ROCK and the gates of hell would not prevail against it, and that He gave Kepha the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven and the power to bind and loose on earth what would then be bound and loosed in Heaven. You IGNORE Jesus' words to blabber on about the Greek Form of Peter's name. You Follow Satan, Not JESUS.
@johnthreesixteen316 Jesus called Simon "Kepha", not Petros or Petra. You are obviously an English -only speaker. You cannot call a man by a female name in other languages. Petra cannot be the name of a man. Translating "Kepha" from Aramaic, they had to make it a masculilne form, ergo "Petros". But Jesus said "KEPHA". Capisci? Entiendes? Verstehst du?
@johnthreesixteen316 Let's see. I gave you the words of Jesus from Matthew 16: 18-20, but you do not believe them. Hmmm. A non-believer are you. If Simon bar Jona is called Petros ever after, except for a couple of Paul's references to him as "Kephas", then why do they call him thus? Do you think? Or are you Avoiding thought??? Your sect doesn't want you to think. Jesus is the Eternal Rock of Faith, but HE put a Rock "Kepha" on earth for His Church.
@johnthreesixteen316 Matt. 16:17-19="Blessed are you, Simon bar Jona, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, your are Kepha (rock) and upon this kepha (rock) I shall build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I shall give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." -- Understand???
@johnthreesixteen316 If Simon is called "Petros", aren't they using it as his masculine name? If they called him "Petra", it would be an insult, because it is feminine. At any rate, the NAME given him by JESUS was KEPHA (Rock). Read and believe. Or you can refuse and serve Satan with lies and dissimulation, pretending to be "Christian". Choose you this day, whom you will serve!
@johnthreesixteen316 Because you are equally blind. So many have been led astray by leaders of small sects who make themselves mini-popes, but they have No Authority.
@johnthreesixteen316 That is what the Catholic Church has taught for 1,982 years. Way before the present sects existed, because Jesus established One Church for his followers and gave authority to the apostles to bind and loose on earth, told them to teach All nations, and promised that He would be with it till the end (Matt 28: 18-20). That One Church can be seen in Acts of Apostles, it can be seen in history, and it can be seen in the One United Catholic Church today.
@FRAGIORGIO1 Wrong. You teach Christ must be re-sacrificed. If the "mass" ( which is NOT in the Bible, BTW ) is the "same" sacrifice but in a "DIFFERENT" manner, then it cannot be the "SAME".
@FRAGIORGIO1 "Indeed, it is greater even than the power of the virgin Mary. While the blessed virgin was the human agency by which Christ became incarnate a single time, the priest brings Christ down from heaven and renders him present on our altar as the eternal victim for the sins of man not once, but a thousand times."...
@FRAGIORGIO1 ..."The priest speaks and lo, Christ, the eternal and omnipotent God, bows his head in humble obedience to the priest's command." He has the power to go to heaven and pull Christ down, and sacrifice him again on the altar of the church.". - Faith of Millions APPROVED by the RCC
@FRAGIORGIO1 " Power of Consecrating: The supreme power of the priestly office is the power of consecrating. 'No act is greater,' says St. Thomas, 'than the consecration of the body of Christ.' In this essential phase of the sacred ministry, the power of the priest is not surpassed by that of the bishop, the archbishop, the cardinal or the pope. Indeed it is equal to that of Jesus Christ...
@FRAGIORGIO1 ...For in this role the priest speaks with the voice and the authority of God Himself. WHEN THE PRIEST PRONOUNCES THE TREMENDOUS WORDS OF CONSECRATION, HE REACHES UP INTO HEAVENS, BRINGS CHRIST DOWN FROM HIS THRONE, AND PLACES HIM UPON OUR ALTAR TO BE OFFERED UP AGAIN AS THE VICTIM FOR THE SINS OF MAN."
@johnthreesixteen316 Jesus worked His redemption 1,982 years ago, and He sent His apostles to Teach with Authority in One Church until He comes again, so that His redemption might be spread to All Nations and all times, as He commanded (Matt 28: 18-20). READ your Bible.
@johnthreesixteen316 Amen! In John19:30 Jesus said, "IT IS FINISHED", which in the Greek is "Tetelestai" meaning "to make an END, to ACCOMPLISH, to COMPLETE something, not mearly to end it, but to bring it to perfection or its intended goal."
FRAGIORGIO1 FARTS, "... but as the communities grew in the first century, the more developed church, such as Antioch, gave the title of Bishop to the principal leader only."
The so-called "developed church" was never meant to "develop". Especially into the hierarchal abomination that would become that of the pagan-based anti-Christos roman catholic sect and their so-called "church" which served as a front for a political institution seeking world despotism, you half-wit jesuit.
@SpencerBenedict2nd Wrong again! The small church communities of the early apostolic times soon began to grow greatly in some areas of the eastern Roman Empire. Antioch, where believers were first called Christians, was soon a flourishing church, so that when its bishop, Ignatios was sent to Rome (110 AD) to be martyred, he could write of the "ekklesia katholike" (Universal Church) that the bishop presided in the place of Christ, surrounded by the presbyters and deacons.
@FRAGIORGIO1 Wrong again! Just because you add the word, "kath-o-lick" my ass, to the word "ekklesia, doesn't make it so. But you keep dying in your lying.
FRAGIORGIO1 ASKS, "Why do you, who say you are a Christian, use vulgarity??"
>When did i ever say i was "Christian"? I am merely an Historian with an interest in religious sects and the history of Christianity. Hope this helps.
@SpencerBenedict2nd Read Acts of Apostles and Letters of Paul for many mentions of bishops, priests, and deacons (episkopoi, presbyteroi, and diakonoi in Greek). Jewish synagogs had presbyters or elders as the leaders of the community as did the early Christian communities. Paul sent Titus to make presbyters/elders in the cities of Crete (Titus 1:5). He exhorts Titus,"Exhort and correct with all authority. Let no one look down on you" (Titus 2:15). Titus acted as bishop.
>Your catholic "bishop" B.S. (supported also by the kingly James) is not of the Bible, or of God and His Son. It is of man and is un-biblical and anti-christian.
Titus was not acting as a anti-Christ catholic "bishop". He was nothing more than an elder of the ecclesia of Christ.
@SpencerBenedict2nd Read 1 Timothy 3:1-2, where Paul speaks of "episkopos" = bishop in English, "obispo" in Spanish, "vescovo" in Italian, "bischoff" in German, etc. Still, in those early days, "episkopos" (overseer, superintendent) and "presbyteros" (elder/priest) were about the same thing, but as the local churches grew in numbers, the name was given to the head of the board of presbyters and overall leader of the local community (cfr Ignatius of Antioch, 110 AD).
@FRAGIORGIO1 Read 1 Timothy 3:1-2 "Stedfast is the word: If any one the oversight doth long for, a right work he desireth; 2 it behoveth, therefore, the overseer to be blameless, of one wife a husband, vigilant, sober, decent, a friend of strangers, apt to teach"-1 Ti 3:1-2 "if a man desires presbytery, or eldership"; and it lies in preaching the word, administering the ordinances of the Gospel, and taking care of the discipline of the church; as the word "episcopacy", here used, signifies.
@SpencerBenedict2nd This power was demonstrated when Clement of Rome around 90-95 AD wrote to the church in Corinth, Greece, scolding the local faithful for rebelling against the local presbyters. He had the power to command them at such a distance because (1) he was a bishop, and (2) he was bishop of Rome and successor of the apostle Peter, the Rock on earth of Jesus' Church.
@AnLe29 That service has never been done by women in the Catholic or the Eastern Orthodox churches. Jesus made only men to be apostles. Why? I don't know, but it certainly didn't stop women from being important evangelizers, prophets, or teachers. Sts. Catherine of Siena, Teresa of Avila, and Therese of Lisieux are Doctors/Teachers of the Church, and the Virgin Mary is above all creatures as Mother of God.
@saudertim1 History will show you that Only the Catholic Church under the successors of Peter and Paul in Rome has continued the Church founded by Jesus 1,982 years ago. An early Christian writer, Irenaeus of Lyons wrote that correct doctrine is to be found in the church of Rome, "founded by the glorious apostles Peter and Paul, and with which Church all others must agree" ("Adversus Haereses" around 190 AD). He was a disciple of the martyr Polycarp who was a disciple of John.
@johnthreesixteen316 "Babylon" in Peter's letters was the Christian code name for Rome, and ancient Christian writers from the second century attest his presence in Rome, such as Ignatius of Antioch (ca 110 AD) and Irenaeus of Lyons (ca 190 AD) who was a disciple of the martyr Polycarp who was a disciple of the apostle John. Other ancient writers mention it. Read some history and ancient Christian writers instead of listening to Ignorant sect leaders.
@johnthreesixteen316 I read that collection of books approved originally by the bishops of the Catholic Church in the first centuries. Thank the Catholic Church you have it. But it is not for Private interpretation, because it comes from the Teaching Church with the Authority that Jesus gave it to last till the end of the world, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (although they have always assaulted it).
@FRAGIORGIO1 Dear friend. The true church of Jesus Christ is a relationship, not a membership. It isn’t any particular protestant denomination or Roman catholic. It doesn't have a roof or an address. We are the Body of Christ, past, present and future from all around the world who have accepted Christ’s work on the cross for our sins 2000 years ago, once and for all. Our names have been written in the Book of Life from the beginning. 1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given.
@johnthreesixteen316 Jesus prayed to the Father that all believers would be One as He and the Father are One, so that the world might believe that the Father sent Him. There is One Catholic Church from ages past with 1,200,000,000 members, and there are thousands of sects yelping in different voices. Where is the Witness Jesus prayed for???
@saudertim1 Jesus said that He is the living Bread from heaven and that whoever ate His Body would have eternal life, but some disciples left him saying, "How can this Man give us His Body to eat?" (John ch 6). Jesus, however, in the Last Supper said, "Take and eat: this is My Body" (Matt 20:20). Paul says (1 Cor 11:23-29) that whoever eats unworthily of the Bread of the Supper is guilty of the Body of the Lord. Your sect doesn't believe Jesus' repeated words nor Paul's, do they?
@FRAGIORGIO1 Hello friend. Christ is called the lamb, the true vine, the gate, the chief cornerstone, the light of the world etc. etc. and the bread of life. Metaphors my friend. Metaphors.
@johnthreesixteen316 In the Last Supper, why did He say "Take, eat: This is My Body. This is the cup of My Blood which shall be shed for you" ?? Why did Paul say his words in 1 Cor 11: 23-29.
@FRAGIORGIO1 Just a thought.......can a photo of a glass of water quench a person's thirst? No it can't. At best the photo serves as a reminder of how much we need the real thing. Christ is the real thing, not the bread.
@johnthreesixteen316 You ignore John ch 6, the miracle of the multiplication of the fish and bread tied into "I am the bread from heaven. Whoever eats my flesh shall live forever" and that you are similar to those who said, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat", and they left him. So, you don't believe Jesus' emphatic words at the Last Supper either. And you don't believe Paul 1 Cor 11: 23-29 ???
@saudertim1 You have been deceived by false and ignorant teachers. Jesus founded one and only one Church praying to the Father that believers would be One in unity as He and the Father are One so that the world might believe in His mission (John 17:20-21). The Catholic Church is one and united in All the world, as Jesus prayed. It confesses Him as Savior and Lord. In Acts of Apostles you can see one united Church in many regions under the authority of the apostles.
@johnthreesixteen316 You forget Jesus' words about God being the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and that He is the God of the living! You forget about Jesus' parable of the rich man praying Abraham to send Lazarus (who was in "Abraham's bosom" to his family. The rich man's prayer failed because he was in hell, and there was a great divide between the two. Remember? Or better, read without consulting any False Teacher and False Prophet in some sect.
@saudertim1 There is nothing about sun worship. Do you think it is because in English and German they call the 1st day of the week Sunday? In Catholic and Eastern Orthodox countries it is called "Lord's day"= Domenica, Domingo, Dimanche, Kyriake, Bogdan, etc. Christmas commemorates the birth of Christ and was put as a celebration in Rome to combat the pagan Saturnalia and the cult of the Sun god, but Christmas, Natale in Italian, Navidad in Spanish celebrates our Savior's birth.
@saudertim1 Jesus breathed on his apostles saying "Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you shall forgive they are forgiven them" (John 20:22-23). Then He sent to to all nations and told them to teach all the commandments that He had taught them and promised to be with them to the end of time (Matt 28-18-20). He prayed that all the believers would be united in one as He and the Father are One, so that the world might believe in His mission (John 17:20-21)
@georgiadrew Jesus chose Judas, and we have a few Judases among our priests and bishops, but they are far from being a large minority. They are being dealt with more energetically now, because Rome is onto the case. Local churches sometimes get lazy, but that's only a few anyway.
@AnLe29 "Nice"? It's a serious responsibility before the community to represent the person of Jesus serving the Church. There are Many types of service within the Church.
Most people are familiar with modern clergy, who dedicate their lives to the Lord and serve as a "priest". Priests also existed in the OT, but God selected a class of people to be priests, specifically, the tribe of Levi. The duties of these priests included offering sacrifices, working in the temple, teaching the other people about God & His will (Ne 8:1-8; II Ch 15:3). However, God never intended for it to be this way in the NT. He even foretold in the Old Testament that it would be different.
@SpencerBenedict2nd You are confusing Two words: "hieros" =sacrificing priests of the Jews and the Christian people themselves, and "presbyteros" = elder or leader of the community. In English both concepts are translated with the same word, but "priest" itself comes from the Greek "presbyteros". Priests in the Church continue the work of the "presbyteroi" of apostolic times. Paul sent Titus to Crete to put things in order and create presbyters/elders (Titus 1)
@FRAGIORGIO1 I am confusing nothing and supply universal truth to those in need. Your constant counter shows you are in need.
Jesus strictly forbid the use of titles such as "Father", "Reverend", "Rabbi" (meaning "Master"), explaining that these are titles and names for God, not people.
The word "pastor" means "herdsman, or shepherd". Let us never ignore, minimize, or pervert the important role of the gospel preacher, minister, evangelist, as they should never be used as titles of exaltation.
@FRAGIORGIO1 FRAGIORGIO #753, your confusing the first century primitive church of Christ with the apostate roman catholic sect (i.e., Church of Rome) that would rear its beastly anti-Christos seven sacramental heads of blasphemy some 3 centuries later. You don't know history. Read!
@FRAGIORGIO1 --What I mean by "liberal" is one who is not loyal to the Pope, Teaching Magesterium, or whatever else there is to rebel against. Liberals are nothing but destroyers.
I am future priest from Romania. Because is most beautiful thing on earth to be the servant of Christ. Few priests do bad things..... Many priest are great
"Because I want to be happy, and I want to make others happy". Priests, religious, Sisters, Brothers, etc...are the happiest people I have ever met. Pray for vocations, God Bless!
You are not in any position to demand anything. You made the statement. You saying it (and your track record is not good for that) doesn't make it true. Now back it up. Proof.
@MsChrisdom Amen! The main problem here is that the roman catholic cult is the only organization that has offered peverts of every stripe and pedophiles in particular a career, protection and access to children. Over time this has led to more and more perverts being attracted to the Church.
@kiwichristian2009 In the US, about 5% of the priests in the last 50 years were accused, and 80% of the cases were with adolescents, not pre-adolescents (which qualify for pedophilia), so it was homosexuals who were guilty.. A number of prominent Protestants have been caught having homosexual acts, acts with prostitutes, and adulterous acts (many divorce and remarry against Jesus' command), not that immorality is a general problem among our Protestant brethren either.

@kiwichristian2009 How many Protestant preachers have done evil things, gone to prostitutes, had homosexual relations, divorced and remarried, and molested children. The difference is that the Media hate the Catholic Church because it is the Great Adversary of Abortion and Homosexual Marriage as well as libertinism in general. Jesus chose Judas, and Judas priests and bishops have been in the History of the Church just as evil kings, priests, and false prophets in Israel.
A study of the New Testament reveals that all Christians are priests. Peter said,"Be you yourselves as living stones, built thereon into a spiritual house,a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." (1 Pet. 2:5).Thus,all Christians are of that holy priesthood and can offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. There is not a man or group of men on earth who can offer unto God spiritual sacrifices for others.
@kiwichristian2009 I wrote to you days ago and you haven't had the Integrity to respond. Priest comes from "presbyteros" in the New Testament, in case you are ignorant of that. That word means "elder" and elders were authorities in the Jewish synagogues and Sanhedrin. In Acts 15: 22-29 we read that the apostles and the elders pass decisions that affect the Universal (katholike in Greek) Church. Paul sent Titus to make "elders" (presbyteroi) in every city in Crete. READ & BELIEVE !
@FRAGIORGIO1 "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." I Peter 2:6, 9
Please note that each of these labels are used as part of a descriptive analogy. There is no physical house of "living stones", no physical nation, and no physical priesthood. These are physical descriptions of our spiritual nature and roles. READ & BELIEVE !
@SpencerBenedict2nd Who said "no physical nation"? Jesus founded his Church upon Simon bar Jona and renamed him Rock (Kepha in Aramaic, later translated as "Petros" among Greek-speaking Christians) and upon that Rock He built His Church for "All nations" just as Israel was a physical people with One Nation. Jesus prayerd "may they be One, Father, as You and I are One" that the world might believe" (John 17:20-23). That is the Church. READ & BELIEVE !
Read!
@SpencerBenedict2nd Jesus founded One and only one Church for all nations. Acts of Apostles shows that Church. History reveals the Catholic Church as the only historically universal (katholke) Church for all nations and all times. You sectarians don't read and so are confused by your ignorant and misleading false teachers.
@FRAGIORGIO1 Quit being such a pompous ass FRAGIORGIO1. You know damn full-well the great apostate anti-christian catholic sect didn't rise from the depths of hell till going on 3 centuries after biblical Christianity took root upon Peters confession, for the Bible tells us so.
You deluded cath-olics don't read and so are confused by your ignorant and misleading anti-Christos, blasphemy shilling, false teachers. And that's the fact, Jack!
@johnthreesixteen316 Jesus spoke Aramaic, and He called Shimon bar Yona "Kepha"= Rock. It was translated as "Petros", the Masculine form of "Petra" feminine for Rock in Greek. So Kepha is the Rock that Jesus Himself gave the "keys of the kingdom of heaven" to and said he could bind and loose on earth, and He also said "Feed My lambs, Feed My sheep"
@kiwichristian2009 There are two types of priesthood: (1) that of all believers to offer spiritual sacrifices, and (2) the priests who are presbyters (from which the English word comes) or "elders" in Greek, who were members of a governing group of a Jewish synagog as well as the governing members of a local Christian church, as when Paul sent Titus to make Presbyters (priests) in every city of Crete.
@kiwichristian2009 You are confusing Two different words in Greek. "Hieros" is a sacrificial priest of the Old Testament and it is applied to all Christian believers. "Presbyteros" is where we get the word "priest" from, and it refers to the "presbyteroi" or "elders" who ruled the Jewish synagogs and the Christian communities. Anyone who reads Acts or Paul's letters can see the presbyters/elders were authorities in the churches.

@MsChrisdom You know we are all humans we all make mistakes, don't you? But unfortunately we humans, make a lot of noice for a tree that falls, and we don't say anything for a thousand that grows. God Bless You.
Thank you for this video...It is somewhat helping me decide. Soon if it is God's will I will be like you guys! :) I just need support and guidance! :) God bless you all!
@Portubed By the way, you show how self-absorbed you are by thinking it's fine to claim no one is laughing because you are not. Seriously, if you tell me to get lost one third time you'll make my day.
@thedeadlystoat This isn't meant for you, so stop being self-serving, making fun of a cause that isn't yours and that you're clearly unfamiliar with. About the sexual abuses, you should know better: the news may fool you into thinking they are increasing, but they mostly happened decades ago. There are more cases in schools and Boy Scouts and yet you won't tell people not to become teachers... I said "get lost" in the sense that you feel you have the right to be offensive and unfair, calm down.
@georgiadrew Yes, may God bless priests, what's your point? Define "so many priests are perverts". Do you have any idea how many more are there in schools and other institutions? Most of which are married? Don't be fooled by the scandals that the media decides to talk about. I'm not defending those who are actual perverts, but I wouldn't stop asking for God to bless and change them either.
@davecyco This is why I cannot bear the responsibility of being a priest. Like you, I have heard and read that priests have far more to answer for - I am just too fearful of God to become a priest. Few of them are saved? Lord, please have mercy and pity on us all.
@Iosepusmagus It doesn't matter how many "stood by" the claim of Arius, but how many ACCEPTED it and reamined in communion with those who did. Hence "the world groaned to find itself Arian". - St. Jerome.
@davecyco That the Arians became so strong was due to Constantine's sons who backed Arianism and persecuted the orthodox like St. Athanasios of Alexandria, but the pope welcomed him, the great Father of Orthodoxy. The Arians were strong because of Imperial backing but did Not Prevail. Jesus' words were fulfilled.
i want to become a priest a catholic priest to become someone i feel inside so my connections with god will be more powerful and i want to help the poor elderly the sick the prisoners the dying and people who dont feel thier connection with god and jesus christ is strong
BEST ANSWER was I want to forgive in the name of Christ. GOOD ANSWERS were I felt God was calling me I want to follow my conscience God wants me to God comes first one day I asked Him what he wanted me to do HONEST ANSWERS were we need priests/holy priests MOST STUPID ANSWER was the world needs a bustle (Is that what 1:46 said?) THE REST are perfect examples of what has gone wrong with Holy Mother Church.
I'm not catholic but do have a few catholic friends. I do have to say I admire the obvious dedication and sincerity these men exude. You can't fake those smiles and those words. God bless.
Why not? Because I don't want to be associated with a lot of dress wearing twits who if they are not balls deep in the altar boy are busy protecting those who are balls deep in the altar boy.... Creepy shit you catholic freaks
If you go this road. think it over carefully. If one day you can`t control yourself, you can`t get out, except by breaking your vows. What you think you can master now, when you are full of idealism, will be much harder to control later, when your idealism is weakened. Been there. I know.
you can still be a preist, no matter which franciscan community you join. Which one are you thinking of? You will be a franciscan priest, that's where I feel called.
Wow! In this year of the Priest we need to pray for Priestly Vocations and we need to pray for our current priests! They are heroes! Without the Priest there is no Eucharist! Without the Eucharist there is no Christian! Without the Christian, there is no Eucharist! Without the Eucharist there is NO LIFE!!!
I forthright declare my infernal allegiance to the Lancea Sanctum, it's sacraments of Theban Magick, and the Promise of the Void offered by the sol invictus of the New Year.
The Host is a symbol of the priest's penis: the chalice is the absent vagina of Mary. This is the secret teachings of the Cainite Catholic Church.
you can still be a priest man! you just have to do your formation AND sem. Studies at the same time. What order of Franciscans are you looking at? I am definatley going CFR.
heard of them. They are semi Chloistered, I don't think that is for me. I like the CFRs becuause they are like the earliest Frianciscans in every way imaginable. But the FIs are good too. I admire their life style and those who have what it takes to live that way. I just can't do semi cloisetered.

The so-called "developed church" was never meant to "develop".

SpencerBenedict2nd 1 month ago
@SpencerBenedict2nd This power was demonstrated when Clement of Rome around 90-95 AD wrote to the church in Corinth, Greece, scolding the local faithful for rebelling against the local presbyters. He had the power to command them at such a distance because (1) he was a bishop, and (2) he was bishop of Rome and successor of the apostle Peter, the Rock on earth of Jesus' Church.

@AnLe29 That service has never been done by women in the Catholic or the Eastern Orthodox churches. Jesus made only men to be apostles. Why? @saudertim1 History will show you that Only the Catholic Church under the successors of Peter and Paul in Rome has continued the Church founded by Jesus 1,982 years ago. An early Christian writer, Irenaeus of Lyons wrote that correct doctrine is to be found in the church of Rome, "founded by the glorious apostles Peter and Paul, and with which Church all others must agree" ("Adversus Haereses" around 190 AD). He was a disciple of the martyr Polycarp who was a disciple of John.

@saudertim1 Jesus said that He is the living Bread from heaven and that whoever ate His Body would have eternal life, but some disciples left him saying, "How can this Man give us His Body to eat?" Paul says (1 Cor 11:23-29) that whoever eats unworthily of the Bread of the Supper is guilty of the Body of the Lord. Your sect doesn't believe Jesus' repeated words nor Paul's, do they?

Most people are familiar with modern clergy, who dedicate their lives to the Lord and serve as a "priest". Priests also existed in the OT, but God selected a class of people to be priests, specifically, the tribe of Levi. The duties of these priests included offering sacrifices, working in the temple, teaching the other people about God & His will (Ne 8:1-8; II Ch 15:3). However, God never intended for it to be this way in the NT. He even foretold in the Old Testament that it would be different.
SpencerBenedict2nd 1 month ago
@SpencerBenedict2nd You are confusing Two words: "hieros" =sacrificing priests of the Jews and the Christian people themselves, and "presbyteros" = elder or leader of the community. In English both concepts are translated with the same word, but "priest" itself comes from the Greek "presbyteros". Priests in the Church continue the work of the "presbyteroi" of apostolic times. Paul sent Titus to Crete to put things in order and create presbyters/elders (Titus 1)

The word "pastor" means "herdsman, or shepherd". Let us never ignore, minimize, or pervert the important role of the gospel preacher, minister, evangelist, as they should never be used as titles of exaltation.

I'm not catholic but do have a few catholic friends. I do have to say I admire the obvious dedication and sincerity these men exude. You can't fake those smiles and those words. God bless.

If you go this road. think it over carefully. If one day you can`t control yourself, you can`t get out, except by breaking your vows. What you think you can master now, when you are full of idealism, will be much harder to control later, when your idealism is weakened. Been there. I know.
lizazoon 2 years ago
it's not a matter of "you can't control yourself", it is a matter of surrendering all to Christ!

you can still be a preist, no matter which franciscan community you join.

Pray for Priestly Vocations!

BOW BEFORE THEM.

you can still be a priest man! you just have to do your formation AND sem. Studies at the same time. What order of Franciscans are you looking at? I am definatley going CFR.
cheesemonkey1990 2 years ago
Fransiscans of immaculate!!
they do the virgin marys will
god bless =)
anoldalarmclock 2 years ago
heard of them. They are semi Chloistered, I don't think that is for me. I like the CFRs becuause they are like the earliest Frianciscans in every way imaginable. But the FIs are good too. I admire their life style and those who have what it takes to live that way. I just can't do semi cloisetered.
peace and good!
cheesemonkey1990 2 years ago
yeah ,
that'll more than likely be the hardest bit for me......
but theres no way i'd go into a fully cloistered order, there is no way i would be able to take it!
anoldalarmclock 2 years ago
@cheesemonkey1990, God bless you Zach!!! You are still in my prayers!
CFR Wow! Right up there with Fr. Groeschel, Fr. Andrew Apostoli, Fr. Stan Fortuna and not to mention Capuchin Franciscan Padre Pio! :)
