How terrible such a thing can be! Normally i can't bear people who smokes in some way. but both Sherlock Holmes and Jeremy Brett, I still love them, in spite of that terrible habbit. Watson should do better to stop smoking himself. Why doesn't Watson give the right example ???
@PeterFirthFan Actually he'd already sustained heart damage from rheumatic fever as a child plus the bipolar meds he had to take. I'm sure the ciggies didn't help though.
He played the part of Sherlock Holmes perfectly, including the smoking part, and as a smoker myself, I almost cringe to think of how much our dear Jeremy Brett smoked during these films and in real life! But, to each his own, and great movie clips here.
First three things i think of when i think of sherlock holmes is Genius, Sexy, and Smoking. but i hate to see dear Jeremy Smoking so much becuase of how bad it is for you...
Yes, he smokes too much, maybe it helps him to think better. Although I don´t smoke, I couldn´t imagine Holmes without a pipe in his hands. Anyway, he´s an expert in tobacco ashes, which helps him to solve many cases.
I think he is the BEST - Sherlock Holmes

The surgeon general's report wasn't published until 1964.

I read somewhere that JB used to smoke 60 cigarettes a day on set filming Holmes.

That was the main reason for his early death.

Yes... :-(
Should have given priority to his health.
Sorry for my bad English.

Your English is fine.
I heard he used to get most of his cigarettes cheaply from Spain!

I'm sure smoking 60 cigarettes a day did far more damage than his bipolar disorder/homosexuality ever did.

yes, I agree! He smoked very much, but I think smoking is better than f.e. drinking...

And I still don't find smoking the least bit attractive. Just the men hiding beneath the smoke.

Yes, when he smoked, he was released and he meditated about solution of cases..."It is quite a three pipe problem":))

Love this formulation! Use it myself every now and again (although I don't smoke neither).
And I love your video! The music is just wonderful!
