@vincentjurg I wonder what you mean with gothenburg metal... If you mean Sacramentum, Dissection, At the Gates, Megaslaughter, Dark Tranquillity and so... Then I'm with you, the early output from these bands are great. (Except for Sacramentum who stayed great, but they peaked in the early days too). But still, Stockholm death metal is more brainy, has more visceral patterns. After 1995 or so, Gothenburg Metal turned into glam rock played like death metal.

And sorry haha I just don't think the guitar sounds that good. I love the riffage, it's really cool, haha only thing that keeps me coming back to this page, but the guitar tone just kinda sucks the cool out of it for me. Oh and the drumming.

@MartyrOfMetal I agree that it's kind of ugly, but... It's not just the riffs that determine what a song expresses, but also the sound. Here it does just what it's supposed to and fits in really well. It wouldn't be the same if you had the modern over produced sound a lot of records have today, just wouldn't suit the music, or the era for that matter. Now it's kind of slow, dragging behind and lacks edge in some ranges, which, somehow, makes it just right for this music.
