dear everybody who says rainbow and redtail sharks only need like 10 or 20 gallons, you are WRONG. they need at least a 55 gallon tank. they reach 6 inches, are active, and territorial. if you dont beleive me,go to aquariumadvice.co m, my username is alLexX
@ADFsrule ... As with any growing creature, you may start out small & hopefully their environment will change to a larger one as they grow. No need to bicker about it.
The one in the video is perfectly at home in a 60g tank with only 7 or so other fish. He is SEVERAL years old & seems to be doing just fine eats well & has plenty of spaces to sneak around :-)
@tgn11 i realize yours is in an appropriate sized home,i was just trying to correct the myth that small tanks are ok for these guys. sorry if i sounded rude
@ADFsrule no they dnt they could be in any fish tank mr.expert okay... gosh mr knows everything i have a 30 gallon and i have red tailes and there doing fine and there big 2
Just put my 2 plain goldfish in with my little rainbow shark, hahahaha he was going mental at them, after about 2 mins i took them out 1 has a split all the way down its tail fin and the other has a chunk missing out of its dorsal fin :L dont worry theyre totaly seperate now and all okay
@modernwarfare456 algae wafers (a couple times a week, do not put too much in, they will smell it out and find it, other fish may eat the left overs) and... frozen foods such as bloodsworms, brine shrimp and mysis shrimp. Most other fish will eat all of this as well.
@twilightfan2594 they are fine in a 20 gallon if you dont have it overpopulated already i have one in a 10 gallon atm cause hes being very territorial towards my gourami and my crayfish? yeah hes a dick im gonna keep him in the 10 gallon til i get my 55 gallon next week
@mattglenn6669 ikr people think they need 55 gallon petland said that they need 20 gallons which i have a red-tail shark and a rainbow shark in a 27.5 gallon tank.
@twilightfan2594 rainbows will pretty much be fine in anthing i have one in a 10 gal atm i know people say thay need atleast 20 gals but seems as though he has plenty of space and hes very happy.. also i have many caves in my tank he really dont come out at all just chills in the cave and my cray ccontrolls the other caves
Yes, I do... It was almost two years ago & I'd just dropped in Cy-clopeez , a micro plankton, which messes up the tank until they eat it.(Its awesome for the fish)
i have a ruby shark called Ruben, he's brilliant, very shy though, yours seems to have no trouble at all with people filming the tank, bring a camera anywhere near my tank and Ruben is gone like a flash
I did, a year & a half ago, when this was filmed. Also, that was Cyclopeeze which is tiny & some of the duckweed which the bio-wheel sends low into the tank.
Beautiful rainbow shark, mine died last week, very suddenly. She was 8 years old and about 5 to 6 inches. Take alook at my videos of her. She is so missed, yours looks just like mine did. Nice video too!
They are sometimes aggressive depending on what size tank you have. If you have a small tank and guppies they will most likely eat their tails. But if you have a bigger tank then it is ok. Although every now and then they like to chase a couple of fish showing their territory.
they're not really aggressive. just playing. but i'd suggest a flyinf fox shark those are beauties and arent aggresive but they are somettimes mistaken for algea eaters...
a tank mostly full of bottom feeders can get dirty, yes. But, someone had just stirred up a bunch of my substrate, which helps my plants grow. Maybe try not being so judgmental on a 12 second clip from over a year ago... I'm sure you're not so perfect, hmmm?
Hello, I have an albino Rainbow Shark and he's been sick for about a week, but I can't figure out what he has. His scales are sticking straight up, and I think he's swollen as well. If anyone knows what this is please tell me. I would like know how to save him.
i had the same problem and my fish died hes probably dead now as i respond am i right, the scale thing is called pineconing and its the last sign of a fatal infection, the swollenness is just a symptom, no way to save him
Hmmmm... Probably in the 4 inch range, Had him for quite some time now. After a few years of his left eye being "fuzzy" it seems to have healed up after a tank treatment of a tea tree oil product. Was kind of the tank bully when he was younger, but has since mellowed out some.
Complete mug.
