  • Maybe it's just my inherent naivety from living in rural areas where crime is non-existent, but doesn't it seem a bit absurd to carry such an excessive set of weapons? I honestly couldn't live in a place where I would have to be on guard all the time.

  • @elSargent93 Well the idea behind an EDC is a mental awareness and a preparedness to whatever might happen. The knife also is not a weapon, its just for utility. The baton I pretty much never ever carry. this is quite old and its a different set up now. And we only carry legal items (on CU Boulder campus I carry a different knife to comply with their 3 inch maximum blade length laws). I have also never had to draw any of these items for defense. hopefully I'll never have to.

  • A baton can be lethal weapon, depending on how you use it.

Usually if you attack someone with a baton you will be charged with "assault with a deadly weapon".

  • @JoeDurobot true, but naturally you should only use it in a self defense situation so you'll not be charged with 'attacking'. And officially batons are considered 'less-than-lethal weapons'
