ernie davis and jim brown woulld have been the greatest running back duo in NFL history..... when brown gets tired BANG here comes davis, but it was never meant to be.....
Hi im 12 and my grandpa (hes white so am i) knew ernie davis he played on his baseball team and went to the same high school as him. He once was in the same car to hang out and the driver told him to roll down the window bcause it was a bad area and accidentaly hit someone also ernie saw him and said hey peanuts(my gramps middle name)merry christmas and ernie remebered him and at his funeral my grampa was crying and crying and met ernies cousins and mom
Love eharing "The Saltine Warrior". In those days that was the SU fight song, not "Down Down the Field". If you look at the lyrics, there's no reference to Native Americans. " In the days of old, when knights were bold ...Every city had its warrior man." Down Down the Field" does: "Onondaga's braves are out to win today,"
i agree wit everyone here ernie davis is da best football player he was a true athlete nd he did deserve dat hiesmen trophy nd he is an inspiration to me also nd i luv da sport football its fun as hell nd ma fav position is running back
The Expresss Is One Of The Best Films Ive Seen, Showing How Even Over Racism, Ernie Managed To Make A Name For Himself. R.I.P possibly the most inspirational players in the game
ernie was great they will never be a player even close to his talent and also his kindness on and off the field he was a gud man and a amazing running back
that guy is just stupid and i agree totally with you and have a similar story, moms boyfriend was a huge su fan since childhood. he seen them play says ernie was as good if not slightly better than jim. can you believer they were both going to play for the browns at the same time had he not died. so tragic.
I'm looking forward to Rutgers beating down shitty Syracuse today!!! I just woke up, loading up the car, gonna drive up and tailgate, and go into the game nice and drunk and obnoxious and really gloat in the face of every Sorryexcuse fan, they're a bunch of fags who won't do anything except probably weep.
yo, go back to Jersey and fuck yourself you RU faggot, your team sucks, you guys never were nor will you ever have the history or the tradition of Syracuse and your team was never or will ever be a national power except in your own twisted minds. BTW
31-13 Syracuse, we crushed you and you can expect more of that in the coming years as we will send you, your overrated team and your dickhead of a coach Shady Schiano home every year with your heads up your asses
aww man i look for people like you after a game at the dome especially after a loss. cause i realy just want to deck someone. i would lay your sorry as out at the on marshal st. where we raised hell during the 2003 bball championship. have you guys ever won a championship in anything? even made it close to a championship game? you sorry excuse of a human being.
SU fan here speaking for wronged West Virginia fans. The incidents in the film regarding West Virginia didn't take place at all. The film makers made that up to spice up the picture. The Texas game is much closer to the truth but was fooled with a bit, too.
this hilight reel sucks, i'm not impressed. there are only like 2 td runs on here and every other runs are like 15-20 yards, we see runs like that at least once every game. and also this is college. I'm not trying to down earnie davis, i'm just trying to proove he's not all that wonderfull.
dude you cant just go out and find ernie davis highlights that easy. give me a break bro he's one of the highest yards per carry in collge football history. won the hiesman TWICE! who else has done that? you need to get lost kido
As a Mexican American...Ernie Davis is a true hero for all minorities...I cannot help but shed a tear and feel sad that he was not able to etch his name in stone in the NFL...Ernie, RIP and you are the greatest running back ever in the hearts of many...
how can you call him the greatest running back ever he didnt even play one snap for the browns but still they retired his number you cant him the best if he only played collage thats like saying reggie bush is the best ever..
The Express had to have been one of the best movies I've ever seen! He really did deserve the Heisman Award. I'm glad he loved playing american football. He is an inspiration, and somebody to look up to.
I watched the movie last night and totally agree with you. It was really sad to see that he died at the age of 23. He had so much potential to be one of the greatest NFL running back.
The Express is an awsome movie. Great acting by Dennis Quaid. It can teach alot to young people about racism, specifically the immature ones who have so much junk to say without thinking
I just watched the express. I had a friend in high school who I played football with and he died of lukemia too. It happened so fast too. He went from being a buffed dude, to losing that weight and to losing all of his hair, but he still had the heart of a lion though.
This movie touched me, but not because of football, but what he went through his entire life, very touching!!
He's good. That's true. I just watched THE EXPRESS and i must say that none of this what was in movie isn't false after watching his real action. Great Player.
You really need to do your research. Ernie Davis was excellent at breaking tackles....EXCELLENT....and he why did he win the Heisman??? Again, do your research and check out his numbers
you need to study up before you make statements like that.
Earnie Davis was KNOWN for breaking tackles. thats why they called him the "Express" hence the movie... It reffered to him as a train. NOthing could get in his way. As far as the Heisman... uhmm haha look up his stats bro... honestly. You have no idea what your talking about.

Deacon Jones himself said that had Davis lived and played with The Browns, that he and Jim Brown would have been the scariest backfield in history.
