@Ethnagei I'd guess that they used Flash or Toon Boom to animate the characters and After FX or Final Cut to create the transition effects. I'd also guess that they used some classical 2d animation, y'know, the frame by frame thing, to do the fishes and then added a granulated filter.
Awesome video! Check out my final project as an undergrad student at the University of Utah if you have some time. Titled "NUMERICA" it deals with a couple struggling to conceive a child in a world where population control is the name of the game.
and also i'm not heartless i just think that it was very boring, and also whats up with all these animations on youtube being depressing and freaky, like a room full of emos are brainstorming and one goes " i got it! starving africans!, it will be a huge hit!" and another stands up and says " we should also have death and a child seperated from his mother!" " BRILLIANT"!
@deatXbyXchocolate335 One thing I don't get is why did the woman died? It can't be thirst he just drank like 10 gallons of water so she must have died from hunger, after all, the title is call "HUNGU" which makes sense.
I think the entire tribe was dying from the lack of water... and food. The woman was drank all the water and I guess she was revitalized? But then that guy hit her on the head and that probably did her in.. along with the hunger. I think it was more the head trauma that killed her than the hunger. HUNGU could also be implying something deeper besides the lack of food.
idk what this really mean but i seem that a mother sacrific will do to comfort or to love her child with out regrets leaving behind that needs of comfort for the child but to grow up soon or later
You are a racist idiot. People who think like you only create and prove stereotypes without any thought of what your words actually mean. If the only things you have to say are things that are clearly and blatantly offensive to entire races, maybe you should stop talking.
I probably wouldn't mind blacks if I didn't grow up around them. I still live around them today. Do any of you listen to rap for the lyrics? They are a despicable people! Sure, there are good blacks, but the majority of them live in ghettos, create the crimes and inhabit the prisons. I would much rather live around mexicans. They aren't the most intelligent, but they are more kind and friendly. Blacks want to fight or argue if you look at them 'wrong'. I can't stand blacks!
I'm Ethiopian and I lived in largely black neighborhood in London for a few years and I did not see the behavior you're talking about. I -do- listen to Hip Hop for the lyrics. While mainstream hip hop is awful, underground hip hop has plenty of intellectual and socially conscious messages.(cont.)
@TheGravitationist i like black people - they re very talented - such things as hiphop culture and capoeira will not exist without them! white people are not greater than black or asian! the real enemy is inside us and it is called ignorance, but the answer is love and respect! big ups for all the races, every human can offer something precious and beautiful for the others, and every race gave something great to the world! and this film is a great piece of art! peace!
Also, I'm not fond of the way you group all black people together. You bring up a point about crime and while I am aware that incarceration rates among black people in America are high, no matter how you slice it, criminals are still in the minority. Also, the prisons would be a lot less crowded were it not for the war on drugs.
@CarlLewenski HA!LOL! I'm sorry but this is to funny. OK First what the hell does this have to do with this piece and second why do people feel like youtube is a place to rant about their hate and racism. You don't like black people ha who cares. As a black woman I'm not offended I just feel really sorry for you. You're just as despicable as those uh blacks you grew up with. ha!!!
@CarlLewenski I'm trying to determine why you would use your real name to identify yourself when you post such ignorant garbage under a thoughtful and well-designed piece such as Hungu.
@CarlLewenski Personally, I hate people from Iceland! Like Bjork! Give me a break! "All Is Full of Love" my ASS. I wouldn't turn my back on Bjork. She'd kill you where you stand. She'd slit your throat in your sleep and make up a song about it and record it near a volcano! Talk about violent!
@CarlLewenski Personally, I prefer the Swedish. Sure, their not as smart as the Icelandics (because the blonde hair doesn't protect them from the sun's more dangerous rays), but they are more friendly ~ UNLESS YOU DON'T SHOP AT IKEA!
Anyway, I hate Icelandics! There I said it! It needed to be said.
@XxKo3dxX The way I see it. It's a break from the normal "Good>Evil" kinda theme. There are more "Good>Evil" than there are the other way around. So to make something "depressing" is a bit newer. I personally prefer these types over the normal fairy-tail kinda thing.
Ppl say this is beautiful because of the art n ths animation. Not the cruelty of others tormenting a mother & child. This story does make sense you just have 2 b creative enough 2 understand the symbolic or metaphor meanings. Basically i think the story is about a child's struggle 2 keep his mother's being alive, and even after he fails, he makes use of his memories of her by creating an instrument of her 2 symbolize his memory of his mother, and continues to play music 2 keep his memories alive
The tribal theme emphasizes a connection to our ancient past. While focusing on the origin of music and culture, it sparks an emotional memory to remind us of our history.
In Bangladesh there is somethin called the aktara = one string = one stringer... the components are similiar w/ a gourd shaped base, two flat bamboo/wood pieces teeping the opening of the gourd, plus a string that lines vetically with the flat pieces. It's mainly used for for folk music.
Thanks for the vid, great animation and very creative!
The same word exists also in India, where is referencing to similar gourd-resonated musical bow, instrument of Sidi community of Gujarat state, used by player, while he walking in neighborhoods and singing, or while participate in damal ecstatic dance. There "malunga" is bow related to ancestral spirit Bava Gor, who came to India probably from East Africa. But first people, which used musical bows were Bushmens (San), Hottentots (Khoi) and related people (like Sandawe, Hadzabe and Pygmies).
Various different prefixes are used, like for example "ma-", which with stem forms the words: macungo, matungo, matemba, madimba, malunga. Last of this words, resembling "gunga" and "hungu", in singular "malunga", in plural "dilunga", names in Kimbundu familiar spirits, which own specific places.
We have got also shortened version of semantical meaning (only as "spirit") in words: "gunga" (Brazil), "nhungo" (Mbunda tribe), "humbo" (Muxiluanda people), "hungu" and "ungu" (Ambundu people), "rucumbo", "rucungo", "orucungo", "urucungu" (Bakongo people of Angola, also in Brazil), "ugumbo" and "ugubhu" (Zulu, Transvaal) [de Oliveira 1958, Shaffer 1977, Megenney 1978, Kubik 1979].
Others interesting transliterations are: "cambulumbumba" (Lunda-Tchokwe people, Angola); "ombulumbumba", "ombulumba", "ombumbumba" (Ovimbundu people, Angola); "mbulumbumba" and "burumbumba" (San !Kung, Bantu Ngumbi and Handa tribes of Southwestern Angola, also in Cuban Republic) - all comes from "buro" (speak with) + "mbumba" (the spirit of the ancestor).
Word "berimbau" is compound of prefix "mbi-" and stem "-rimbau" ["The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language" 2000]. Almost identical is name "bilimbano" (Mandinka people, called also Mandingo, West Africa) in Mande (like Bantu it is also branch of the Niger-Congo language family, but with different noun-class system).
Musical bow is at all of Khoi-San origin - first known ethnos of homo sapiens sapiens. Relatively old names "berimbau" (Portugal), "birimbau" (Brazil), "birimbao" (Spain), all come directly from name "mbirimbau" (Kimbundu language, called in Portuguese Quimbundo, spoken by Ambundu people of Angola, South-West Africa) [Renato Mendonça; Ortiz; Rego 1968; Machado 1977; Meggeney 1978; "Collins English Dictionary"; Schneider "Dictionary of African borrowings in Brazilian Portuguese"].

your logo is a copy of "lucasart".... where is creativity?
whiteyorm 2 years ago
The NFB logo was first used in 1969.
Lucasarts was founded in 1982.
Hence Lucasarts had 13 years to copy the NFB logo. It might be good to actually do some research before reaching such conclusions.
