@Deadly995 Im not sure if I understand the question.. But you can play this sound on any key, it's gonna sound best at some part of the keyboard though. When you put 1 sample in, you can play that sample on evey key basecly.

i have no sound and my combinator has a red light that says external routing no matter what i do i cant get any sound to go through the combinator

@randiseriss is your combinator linked to sample input and not a mixer? if it is linked to sample input, unplug it from there and put it into a mixer then, plug sample input and plug it into audio input right next to it. hope this helps.

i got as far as about 8 minutes at the key mapping part and it does not list anything there or can you alter it. any advice i am using reason 6, alsoi could not find a similar mastering suite but when you start reason six there is a plug in called master section

@randiseriss if you right click on "master section" go down the list and select "browse insert fx patches, this has all the patches that he is talking about in all of his videos, i believe he has reason 5 and that's how it worked back then.

@randiseriss at the top of your rack where you make insterments and effects and such there should be a section at the top that says.

"master section"

you can "right click" on top of the words and it should bring up a menu (example, like if you right click a web page) then you go through the menu until you see

"browse insert FX patches"

"click"

then it will bring up another menu that has all the patches that you can choose from.

such as deluxe mastering suite, or dance. etc.

@OliverJackDavies are you putting the notes in the key mapping area, or "piano roll" if not select this "transformer bass" hit "edit mode" and then you should be able to plot notes.

This tutorial is awesome. I only watched it once and learned/retained so much. I have no previous experience with Reason but i made this song (on my channel) using some of the techniques in this video. I went from memory on how to recreate everything, so it's not exactly right.. But it's a start.. Thanks Dave and Malleus. Keep making vids please. You guys are sick. @ASDFKilljoy It doesnt matter that you dont have a MIDI keyboard. What you need to do is check the wireing (flip the rack by pressing TAB). And see that the combinator is connected to mixer, mixer to mastering suit to hardware interface. also none of these devices can be in the "off-position". If you get a visual on the mixer when you press key its probably something wrong in your audio preferences

I might be missing something here, but why is the sample even run through the first Malstrom? It's not modifying the sound, is it? For that matter, why not just use the LFO in the second Malstrom and delete the first one entirely? Also, I think the pitch bend on the Malstrom doesn't have any effect on the sound either.

@Nardi11011 Not exactly. Try testing your hypothesis and see what you get. You may be correct about the Malstrom's pitch bend range but its always a good habit to keep all pitch range the same amount just in case.
