Sorry but The new Generation didn't have to overcome what the original Star Trek did, you just had to flow with its great success, it was a huge boost to you. I am old generation Star Trek, so Shatner and Nimoy are super stars to me.

Wow, I lost some respect for Shatner after watching this. Not only is he not aware that Riker is called "Number One" on practically every episode of TNG (proving what he said before about never watching it), but he has the temerity to attempt to make a joke based on his incorrect assumptions and look like a total ass in the process. Stewart did him a huge favor by letting it slide and making a joke to diffuse the awkwardness.

Steward and Frakes are sympatic, exactly like the chars, they played, and they understand the philosophy of star trek in opposite to Shatner.
