It makes pure sense my lad. If you strip away the initial disgust you can see that the guy is making a bold statement on the zeitgeist. It's a comentary on the human condition and society in the western capitalist culture, where achievement is measured in singular feats of exertion and fortune favours the brave, not the timid.
