What kind of languages do you know. What kind of languages does a web designer have to know that does not want to get all crazy in getting entangled in database and boring languages?
@Mwdwebs It's not my bedroom, that was my living room in my old apartment. I didn't have a lot of places to shoot in a place in the middle of the city, but thank you for the feedback. I'll try to find a place for a plane backdrop from now on. I think it's really just the content here that was meant to be important. It's basic for noobs, I'll make other more advanced videos later if that is what you are looking for.
@RCRhythm Please do not put comments like these on my videos. I'd like to keep the comments strictly to questions relating to work, constructive criticism on my videos for improvement and people actually interested in professional learning. I appreciate the compliment but it's inappropriate.
My Ultimate goal is to have my own design business. I want to start working for a company after my college graduation to learn how the business side is done and then eventually break out on my own with my own business. My grades are good at the college that I attend. Plus my teachers say I have a lot of talent and imagination. Am I on the right track? Thanks for your time.
@Rcinch1 In your junior or senior year it may be helpful to get a design internship with a company. I would also recommend business courses, accounting especially, and learn ux/ui design plus basic programming. If you want to own your own business you should decide if you will be working solo, have a partner or hire employees. If you hire people you lose money obviously, but you also have to consider if a client doesnt pay you, you need to pay other people. I think you're on the right track.
I have a question, is there an age limit for applicants to design companies?
I heard a rumor that companies prefer younger applicants.
See, I am a 28 year old fine arts student. I will be attending graduate school for multimedia design after I finish my fine arts training. I am a part-time student because I have A.D.D. and cannot handle a full-time schedule. By the time I finish school I will be in my early thirties. Is that too old to break in?
@Rcinch1 their is no age limit, well I think most would prefer you are over 18. They are not looking for models. With age comes experience and often the higher paid designers are a bit older. It's talent that runs the show.
@Rcinch1 Well. Not in general, but I suspect that on some companies they DO prefer young people, with no doubt. I've found myself in an work enterview, sourronded by lots of workers on their twenties, half my age... I certainly felt strange. I hope it not to be the normal situation. In fact, I sometimes think that the "senior" developers are expected to be freelance or to have responsability titles, and if you have such a "senior age" and you are looking for a "normal" work... I hope to be wrong

@run1492 I actually am in a contract position now, with mostly people 30-50. Not all are in management roles. I think senior designers do sometimes manage the projects more, but that is what comes with responsibility and getting paid more. Junior can still get paid well, but if you want more money you have to put out work more efficiently with the best quality so that they can justify the pay.
@myBumberchute real time and slife are my favorites. They will give you full feedback on what programs you had open and for how long. When online it will even tell you how long you spend on a specific site. In programs it will give you project names like in photoshop it tells you file names. Then you can batch certain files together to give you overall project times.
@myBumberchute best of luck. :) Any other questions don't hesitate to ask. I need to get back into my videos. I also have a blog though with much more information. DesaraeVeit dot. com and AgencyCouture dot. com

@desaraev6 How long does it take to get a job in the web field? I know CSS pretty well. I'm not up to Advanced level yet, and I know XHTML obviously since I know CSS. I just want a basic entry level job. Do they have jobs just for people who know CSS/XHTML? My problem is getting an idea on which way to design something. Coming up with ideas.
@nowaynohow26 if your a designer, none just find a programmer. Otherwise helpful languages: ajax, java, java script, ruby on rails, xhtml/CSS, php5. You can build most sites on just html/css + php + java script. Cooler stuff goes deeper and may include .NET, C++, flash, share point, and others. Learn wordpress too and how to build CMS sites.
@nowaynohow26 html/css and anything after that you have to decide who you want to program for. As a designer you either design or program, just know your boundaries and how to talk to a programmer
Do you think you can do a short video on online portfolios for graphic designers? What to include, and what to do to make it more of a business website rather then just a portfolio? Thanks, this was a great video.
@cngaedk yep I'll work on that. My portfolio sites for reference: desaraeveit . com dveit . com and agencycouture . com another thought is to use behance, flickr, or a facebook business page like facebook . com/agencycouture
Very helpful video. I have a similar video on my channel called Free Web Design Tools. I'd appreciate it if fellow web designers check out this video and possibly give feedback if it's helpful. My tutorial covers web design tools such as html color codes, w3schools, and firebug.
@blindsmiletv made more... also posted some at agencycouture. com/videos ;) I'm getting ready to travel and do my work... so there will be more of that coming too
Wow, you know about all of the tools! You might also suggest using WordPress as it's such a simple free way to make a website for you or a client, let alone the countless free great looking templates you can apply. Check out mine at ZeitgeistGameReview . com. All of that was totally free, all I had to do was modify some CSS and PHP to customize my look, and then upload some custom graphics!
