But, on an historical note, you might be interested to know that many founders actually wanted a monarchy in the US - they offered it to Washington.
The real division in American politics was between the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists, or Hamilton and Jefferson.
Again, "right" and "left" for us isn't useful.

Name one socialist country that has not spiraled into anarchy and ruin. Take a look at Greece right now - arguably one of the most socialist countries in Europe & now it's in chaos - so deep in debt they CAN'T pay their employees. Riots in the streets.

Third, you should look into the fascist Nazi ideology - Hitler privatized every major industry of the German economy, moving it out of state control. He sought the blessing of the Catholic Church. He detested communism - which is why he launched Operation Barbarossa (if you know the first thing about WWII, you'll know that the Soviets inflicted 80% of German losses). You're very wrong.

When public sentiment was against communism/marxism, the Nazi party QUICKLY changed it's position. He privatized industry when he saw the POLL NUMBERS DROP.

Saul Alinsky was a communist. He came out of the communist philosophy. Communism does not fit into a representative republic style of government that is laid out in the Constitution. One would have to literally subvert Constitutional principles to bring in an Alinsky type of government. To be consistent with his worldview, give what you have & give it to someone else because the principle of private property does not exist in his world. Alinsky wasn't a communist. I realize you may be someone who simply lumps all leftist/socially-liberal/'progressive' political thinkers under a socialist/communist heading but that is nonsense. Alinsky expressly denounced communism and socialism. He didn't believe that his ideas of community activism would work within a communist model. He didn't represent jealousy of private property, just resentment of various brutalities and injustices that are widely denounced by most everyone today.

Those of you who are against community organizing must also be against democracy because in a democracy the poor should have a just as much say in how they are governed as the upper class. When the government looks out for the interests of a few over the many it's called fascism.
I find it hard to believe that the majority is ok with 95 % of the wealth in this country is in the hands of 3% of the pop.
I hope Participatory economic systems will overtake both socialism and capitalism.

We have a Constitutional Republic not a democracy, and our founding fathers used strong words to make it clear that we should never become one. e.g. John Adams: "Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide" (1814). A republic is rule by law, and the law can protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority...but only if we are vigilant to protect our Constitution from domestic enemies!

My point was that as conservative as he was, he was not able to implement as conservative an agenda as you believe, or as he would have liked. He tried to cut domestic spending, without a lot of success.
He was however, the most successful President I've ever seen.

I'm fiscally conservate in that I believe we shouldn't spend what we don't have. Reagan raised taxes and gave the IRS a go ahead to be heavy handed. As much as I hated that, he gave the politicos just more moeny to misspend, but it boosted the economy and made our military the strongest in the world.

To remedy this, in National Elections, each TRUE American citizen should get one vote, plus another vote for each $10,000 he/she ACTUALLY PAYS in federal taxes, up to a maximum of four votes. A similar system should be in effect at the State, County and City levels. Those that pay the most should have the most say on how its spent.
