  • what is the grit size on the ceramic side of the stone?

  • @Colombiano671 Not sure, Check Fallknivens website to see if the details are on there.

  • Can I just ask if you need to add water or oil to the stone before you put the blade to it? Or can you just put metal to stone without anything else needed? Also subscribed.

  • @thatguywiththeegg Hi my friend, this stone doesn't require water to use. Take care

  • @ColinOutdoors Thanks for the info.

  • @thatguywiththeegg No probs my friend

  • Hi Colin. I have a new DC4 but I find it gives a rough appearance to the edge. Does it smooth out after a period of use? I used it on my Mora Miki and after a bit of work on a strop ( old leather belt ) it is shaving sharp. Keep up the good work, thoroughly enjoy your videos. Roddy.

  • @roddyk05 Hi Roddy, thanks for the kind works my friend. My DC4 is pretty smooth and if I recall correct I think it came like that when I bought it

  • Thanks for the tip about keeping the nails in the case, never knew that one

  • @DuckDodgers2400 No probs my friend, something I learned from watching Ray Mears :-)

  • @ColinOutdoors Checking out his website now...

  • @DuckDodgers2400 Cool man :-)

  • I bought the DC 4 and it fell apart after two weeks, the steel plate was not flat this would be due it warping after the die punching it out of the sheet metal.

As it was not truly flat there was no contact between the steel and the ceramic stone when the glue was applied, hence it falling apart.

All so the ceramic was not flat had two ridges full length of it blade would not sit flat, I re glued it together and used the other face of the ceramic as it was flat, poor show from Fallkniven

  • @jnrmack Hi my friend, sorry to hear of the issues of your DC4, it sounds really bad. I am fortunate that mines is quite well made and has served me well.

  • @jnrmack mine also fell apart, that'll say that the diamant side and the black side just cam apart but i took some super glue and since that it has bin just fine!

  • Thx...

  • @fredde90210 Thanks my friend, :-)

  • It's pronounced "fell-knee-ven" ;) With an audible "k" in knee.

  • @natogandalf Cheers for the info mate, spank you very much

  • Thanks Colin,I am just setting up a new site.I think your videos are great,.Are you in Scotland or are you Scottish ?I just found my original birth certificate and my Dad was Scottish.I was always told Dad was English like my Mom.That could explain why I like the pipes so much.Keep up the good work

  • @LiamMitts Thanks my friend, yeah I live in Scotland, glad to here you have some Scottish blood in you :-) Take care

  • Thanks for making some good videos,,,enjoyed the trek down the cliffs for a coffee break,,,,what kind of knife do you carry and what kind of camera do you video with ?

  • @LiamMitts Thanks my friend, I usually carry a multi-tool and a bushcraft knife. I use a Sony DCR SX50 camcorder :-)

  • Mortice out the piece of timber and place the hone snuggly in that. No need to carry nails.

Take your time in the bush :o)

  • @ihaveairlockers Top tip mate, cheers

  • my dc4 get's this little pimples on it's black side

  • @Petegrin1 Ok, I haven't noticed that on my dc4, thanks for watching

  • can i sharpen my mora clipper with just this stone and nothing else?

  • @peter3337 Yeah it puts a great edge on the Clipper

  • A quick little tip for those that bring the DC3 or DC4 on a hike. When the stone is in it's pouch, you can use the outside of the pouch as a little strop. Saves a lot of backpack space and works like a charm.

  • @AjiraKimberly Thanks for the great tip my friend

  • Will a D3T be good for a beginner like me? I would use it for the 10 pound mora and an axe, would it work for the axe?

  • @meandkg Yeah its a great beginner stone, I use mine for my Mora knifes and fiskars axe.

  • I just bought one of these stones tonight. Really looking forward to getting my hands on it. Thanks for the great review.

  • @enjoythewildUSA Cheers mate, I hope you enjoy using yours as much as I have. Great piece of gear

  • brilliant vid. has convinced me to get one for my mora

  • @sissokoisgod Cool, hope you like the DC4 when you get it, thanks for viewing

  • hey do u know if that will work and a mora 2000 good vid.

  • @godstoneful Yeah I would think so, I use it for my Mora Clipper and Miki, should work well.

  • how come the ray mears doesn't have the yellow bit on his stone when you watch his video also will the yellow bit wear of after while .how long will it last for coz im thinking of buying one

  • @Suvivalaliens Not sure if Ray Mears has the same stone, the yellow side won't wear because its the diamond side, hope this helps.

  • This vid made me spend $30

  • On DC4? hope you like it :-)

  • Cool hope you enjoy using it, let me know how it works out for you :-)

  • well for its size it works excellent, obviously is isn't as good as the large whetstones but i think it gives a great edge on the knives and I can't fault it. Plus its transportable, take it wherever you go, its very light and compact. Hope this helps. Thanks again for viewing :-)

  • thanks, my 1 arrived today and its great

  • @ColinOutdoors ..what about cold steel kukri magnum machete ? would it work ? thanks

  • @zevlovex222 Yeah I think it could work but I don't have blades that big to be able to test it unfortunately

  • how does this compare i quality of edge to a benchstone, as i would like to buy one but im not sure how good an edge it will put on a knife

  • do you need water when using the dc4 as im getting the bcnw 01 and aparantly the handle swells up when wet, i suppose i could always seal it with linseed oil

  • No you dont need water with the dc4, its a really good stone, does a great job. Thanks for viewing :-)

  • thanks, i have decided against that knife, i already have a mora clipper carbon steel like urs, and i am going to get a mora s2, its a full tang, laminated carbon steel knife

  • Nice video. =)

  • Thanks mate :-)

  • i keep meaning to buy 1 of these as i don,t have a stone for when am in the feild i only have my bench stones they are very very handy little bits of kit 5/5
