  • I would like to have seen the organ without the camera spinning round throughout the video.....

  • Most amusing comment SystemPause, just be certain that if you jump into bed sporting a 16 foot Bourdon, it isn't mitred.

  • The Royal Albert Hall organ (9999 pipes) and the Organ in the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool (10268 pipes) are the largest organs in the UK!

  • Nice video. Nice piece as well. When was this filmed?

  • @MrPipeCat 2004, cheers mate.

  • sorry but it isn't the largest pipe organ although its pretty big

  • @TheKingOfAmazement This was the largest at the time this video was taken.

  • You will hace to contend with the Wanamaker Organ and the atlantic city Bordwalk Hall organ thay are the larges organs in the world.

  • Sorry.. but even when you filmed it it wasn't nearly the biggest in the world

  • Let's just say it's the world's largest good-sounding organ :-)

  • PLENTY more organs larger than this that sound gd, and far better than what this is.

Its not all that great from what ive heard!

  • The World's Largest Organ is the Midmer-Losh organ in the Atlantic City Convention Hall.

  • Hmm that is not the 1st or 2nd or even the 3rd largets organ in the world. There are several that are much larger. This is not near the top in size of organs. This is just a mid sized concert hall organ. The largest organ has over 33,000 pipes and a 7 manual console.

  • It was the largest when I filmed it. Not looked into it since I made this, so thanks for the info!

  • Of course it wasn't the largest !!!

  • Its never been the largest. The atlantic city organ was built in 1932, it still remains the largest organ in the world. THe wanamaker organ following closely behind, it reached its current size in the late 1920s.

  • @darrenpollard1st

Sorry mate, but this Organ was never the largest in Birmingham, the UK, let alone the World.

I've no idea why the infatuation with size anyway!

It's a very nice instrument with some wonderful stops, but the biggest it is not!

Birmingham should be very proud of this concert Organ and more importantly, the music played on it!

  • @Brandotuomikoski Unfortunately that organ in Atlantic City New Jersey has not functioned for some years so no longer counts as the largest. The largest playable organ is in Macy's, Philadelphia with 28,482 pipes. The Royal Albert Hall Organ, London was the largest in the world when it was bulit in 1871. It is now the 2nd largest in the UK with 9,997 pipes, the largest in the UK is once again is Liverpool Cathedral with 10,267 pipes. St Georges hall is 3rd, Birmingham has never been the largest.

  • i've been in that hall. the organ looks great. I take it the pipes you see on the front aren't 100% of pipes. are there some behind it or behind the walls?

  • I was in there last week looking for Peter Mandleson!

  • mine is bigger, har har

  • I dont know what all the fuss is about, mines much larger and plays some wonderful music, so I am told!!!!

  • darren nice organ my friend hahaha have u seen the organ at the state cinema in grays, very nice piece of work but i cant recall the name of the maker but very nice all the same, proper phantom of the opera style

  • State grays compton organ isnt "phantom of the opera" style! Its a cinema organ, made for playing for solo concerts and playing people into the cinema and out, and for intervals. Its designed to sound "orchestral", so that music from musicals can b played on it, and more modern music.

  • I hate to say this - but feel compelled:

    My organ is bigger.

    I feel used now.

  • Nice little vid, were you allowed to play it?

  • I never asked! I did go inside the thing though & filmed from the 5th story. A very impressive organ indeed! : )

  • whooow - thats a mighty instrument, did you survive?

    btw.

The biggest pipes in church organs [they must be the most expensive pipes] are only to "manipulate" the people :D you cannot hear them, but Subsonic / Infrasound frequencys (below18Hz..) are well known as manipulation tool. It affects people subliminal.

    cheers#!

  • Nice comment, I try to tell poeple about how mp3's (as handy as they are) do not contain all the minor nuances (like reverb tails) the original recordings but they they look at me like I am talking garbage

  • Indeed. It creates a false impression in the brain. Mp3s have information taken away, therefore can only create the illusion you are hearing the originally intended track. Another scam under the guise to save disc space.

  • please explain to a mere mortal, what was that all about

  • It's an impressive organ, much like mine.
