Both versions are great! As John Lennon said "Before Elvis there was NOTHING!" Elvis is KING and the Beatles are his court. I love them both and the Beatles are great but can never compare to ELVIS.
Elvis and The Beatles didn't meet each other in a show. The Beatles visited Elvis at his house in California and there were no pictures or video on this meeting. For further details watch The Beatles Anthology.
@Coronha it is a FANTASY video where I mixed both the rehearsal of Elvis - Aloha From Hawaii (1973) and a performace or two from the Beatles as if they were backing him up with the instruments - footage when they first started out and then of them at the end of their run. All in good intentions!
When George sang this song you could tell he was really feeling what he was singing, elvis just seems not to have nay spirit or actual feeling when he is singing this IMO
Ses honteux de faire un montage elvis beatles car les beatles ont insulter elvis apres avoir ete acceuilli chez se dernier . Donc ses purement degeulase d'avoir fait sa sur pour la memoire d'elvis
@honorableron I dont think Elvis ever hated them personally. I mean he agreed to meet them, and supposedly he got along very well with them the night he met them. What it was....he was so used to being the top dog for 8 years....that when they came to the States it scared him. I think he might have been envious of the fact they stole the top spot from him. But I think he still liked them as people and respected a lot of their music....hence why he covered them.
@williwo What I don't get is WHY are you telling me that. I never said The King didn't like the Beatles. I don't know the first thing about their relationship, if there was one. So, I think you are aiming your comment at someone else.
@williwo According to Pricilla and Joe Esposito, Elvis loved their music and respected them. All that bs about him trashing the Beatles was just for the movies. Elvis recorded 5 of their songs.
@Billieboy43 the up and coming beatles looked at elvis with admiration.elvis looked at the beatles as a serious threat, professionally.the beatles didnt care.
The original Beatle's track is in C and Elvis dropped it all the way to G, the song loses dynamics and emotional depth. Add to that the fact that the 'downers' he took compromised his breathing to the level where it's impossible for him to sing with his famous baritone vibrato. Elvis could have sang this song better than anyone on the planet if he'd done it in the original key and three years earlier but not there on that night in '73.
Normally Elvis can sing, but here he sounds absolutely uninspired and forgets the lyrics to the song...?! This is one song he should have left alone. "something in the way she mo'oooves me...." hahahaha
@universuale the king was performing to a BILLION PEOPLE, i think i would get a bit nervous aswell.this was his 3rd song i think.after this he loosened up
@paulietrev1 No he didnt love The Beatles. He was a two faced asshole when he met Pres. Nixson and told him that that the Beatles were one of the biggest threats to the United States. The Man could sing and thats about it. Couldnt even write his own music. George Harrison Sings this much better.
@CrazedCompProduciton Yes they did in 66 and their fans never saw their idols again, where as Elvis toured in the 50s then spent 2 yrs in the army then did his films in the 60s which were shown worldwide and then returned again in 69 to do 1100 show.
@195477 But their fan smashed in their car windows, tried to break into their apartment or studio, threw objects at them on stage and other things. They quit so they could be safe. And they finished their career with a final show in 69 that was shut down by the police. By 66, the Beatles had only been recording. So they didn't disappear exactly.
@CrazedCompProduciton Writers yes they were and that can be part of being a musician but to me it's more about how you perform and live is far more important than studio, one thing for sure they had "different" qualities and both succeeded each other in differnt areas.
@tevoyaextranar Very good point. This version is great. What is more important though is not the performer but the composer. That is where Elvis was out of his depth. He never professed to be a composer, but being a great composer in music is the criteria for the test of time. The Beatles win hands down.
Both versions are great! As John Lennon said "Before Elvis there was NOTHING!" Elvis is KING and the Beatles are his court. I love them both and the Beatles are great but can never compare to ELVIS.

Elvis before during and after the Beatles.
The Beatles 8 yrs 62-70 350 30-35 min shows
Elvis 8 yrs 69 -77 1100 approx 60min shows.
Elvis was a FAR superior live entertainer.

@CrazedCompProduciton Th roof top show wasn't exactly a "real" show in t true sense.
Fans screamed and smshed things up wth Elvis "I have seen his clothes completley torn off scrached all over and bleeding.".Vernon Presley
The Stones and the Who at that time had thousands of fans going wild it was just a poor excuse..The Beatles failed to grow as a live act.

@195477 Good point. I do think that Elvis had better live shows but the Beatles were a better band.
