@33rdPatriot Google her and you'll read about a terrible accident she suffered in 2003 causing head and spinal cord injuries, causing her to spend a year in the hospital and have re-learn everyday motor skills. Music was her therapy. On result of the accident was acute sensitivity to light - that's why the glasses. She is not only an amazing musician, she's an amazing person as far as I am concerned.
Such a great talent. I wish she made her home in America, instead of Europe. If she toured regularly in the U.S. she'd be all over the Grammys and expose jazz to a wider and younger audience.
Thank God I found this chick. I was in one of my favorite indie record stores yesterday and her Worrisome Heart album was playing over the speakers. I thought it was Norah Jones, but then I realized it wasn't her because this grooves like something racy. Love it :-)
@pineapplepeanuts "Thank god I found this chick", is what I was thinking the first time I filmed her in a little place in Hoboken, NJ. 6 years ago. I was hoping, going in, that she sounded at least half as good live as she did on myspace. Amazing when she started her first song; she's ten times as good live.
From the heart, great compositions and mixing of voice and instrumentation...reaches deep. Nice to see that some talent is emerging again since the 60's/70's.
I think she's fabulous, have since 1st heard her Live from Abbey Road..what a clear and may I say melodic voice. It's hard to explain but I am a little obsesses with her songs. They mean stuff to me.. thanks melody
A 'jazzy' Peggy Lee ! I was walking playing jazz on my boom-box radio (99.10 fm Portland,or) when a young woman stopped me and showed me a CD (Melody Gardot) whom I never heard of. Now I heard her and she's one fine jazz/blues singer!
@byzinski I got lucky one night and fell asleep with the TV on the "international" channel (SBS australia) and after about 3am, they have a weather map + music. I woke up about a minute into "good night" and fell in love :)
And I usually listen to metal! (Not the screamo bs)
Melody Gardot moves me to tears. I think her live songs are better than her first rate recordings. Amazing young new Artist, with capital A. Melody Gardot Amazing Artist!
A stunning talent. So honest in her delivery.... the joke for me is that the likes of Lady Gaga are deemed to be so talented!!!! This is the real thing.
I've watched this video several times but i never realised that there's like a drum percussion type instrument at her feet that she's drumming with.
What i love about her is the diversity in instruments. she plays piano and guitar. she looks at everything to make music. not just the rhymes, lyrics or sound. everything.
Not a problem. She really is an incredible person. I've filmed over a hundred of her shows. She studies them and tweeks her performance until she gets exactly what she wants. Needless to say, she's pretty damn good at tweeking.
Mel, while riding her bike, was involved in an automobile accident years ago. Part of the damage done resulted in light sensitivity. Check out her myspace page; it's all there. Very interesting.
@Jazsngr Do a search on her before you post, then you will get it. There is a reason, but does one really need to explain? If you don't like it, look the other way.
This youn woman is GREAT!!! There are several performances of this song on YouTube, and they all are great. This one has a bit more vocal improvisation towards the end. The trumpeter adds a beautiful touch by turning in a tastefully understated solo.
It was just another "Latenite" and the musicl guest was up next...people talk about The Beatles on Ed Sullivan...I was blown away...It was one of the best performances I have ever seen on TV...
My wife & I saw her live opening up for Jimmy Scott last October and we were blown away - we fell instantly in love with her and can't wait to see her again this fall! So happy she is getting network exposure - she so deserves her success
She's so talented. I first heard her stuff on late night tv filling a space between programs. She was singing goodnigte. It woke me up, made me sit upright in bed and right her name down - I've adored her ever since. So talented.
And this is my favourite of her songs. Such a great performance.
I <3 Melody. She's such a sweetheart & so super-talented. I'm so happy to see her exploding & so proud to be a native of the city she's rising from. Excellent performance!
this is when i fell in love with her...you can't buy her kinda kool...i look forward to falling even deeper in love with her music...my 2009 summer love...ahhh'
is this a Lady Gaga for smart people? Waiting to read what vigilant citizen . com makes of this

This woman sounds better live than in any track. She carries sensuality and her experiences with her. Truly authentic.

The arrangements on this Melody Gardot album are stunning. even cinematic.
You really enter a world. Only the best people get this kind of arranging treatment on CD's.
