the train is based on Siemens Velaro, just as ICE3 is. This is a little bit wider, and some other modifications were made. there is a good article on wikipedia about velaro.

For more, Velaro is based on earlier ICE3. And new ICE3 is based on Velaro.

As I know, new ICE3 is Velaro-DB, CRH3 is Velaro-CN, the version for Spanish is Velaro-E and the version for Russian is Velaro-RUS.

The german ICE1 and french TGVs were travelling well over those speeds already in those days. Unless this is a pure copy of an ICE3 which is 100% rather than under licence? We too, need high speed trains in Australia. Our politicians said for many year we will have a very fast train (VFT) service from Sydney to Canberra. What would normally take at least 3 1/2 hours to travel shall be half the time required in travelling, therefore it shall be a little over an hour to travel. Very quick. But our pollies are extremely slow in the act of delivering vital transport infrastructure for our busy railway networks.
