  • >mfw all these liberals

I'll see you when the system collapses, kids.

  • President Ron Paul? Lol, there are many misguided statements on this post. We need to look no farther than pre-progressive era America to see where you folks want to take us. Collective ownership and regulations aren't the same thing at all. I wouldn't expect simpletons to understand that concept.

  • She missed seven.

  • 1 2 3 4 5 7 6 6 8 9 9 lol

  • Did anybody else find this commercial SEVERELY fucked up?

  • yet we continue to vote for neocon repubs and socialistic dems...we haven't learned in 47 years. I'd like to say we were the generation that elected a principled man who ended all the wars and brought back our liberties. Ron Paul 2012. Cause liberty is a lot more important than the "safety" the government offers.

  • @supermariofj I like a lot of what Ron Paul stands for, but he is just too old. A 76 year old man has no business running for President.

  • @trwent believe me, the guy's a medical doctor and a genius. he sounds alot more intelligent and cognizant than all the other candidates. he's very fit for a 76 y/o. he recently ran in a marathon or something like that i believe.

  • @supermariofj Ran a marathon, huh? I didn't know that. I was just thinking about Reagan, who was a similar age (actually even younger I think) when he first ran for President. In his first term Reagan was okay, but in his second term he seemed lost and events seemed to totally control him rather than the other way around. As a result, unscrupulous subordinates like Oliver North and John Poindexter filled the void with their own agendas.

  • @trwent yeah. but i know, looking at him and researching him, he's miles above the other candidates in experience, knowledge, and integrity.

  • @supermariofj If only the dems were socialist. It wouldn't be as bad. Instead they are warmongering corporatist, just like the repubs.

    Ron Paul 2012

  • @steveomac385 socialists and corporatists are just as bad. I prefer freedom from the state AND the elite. but yeah, Ron Paul 2012!

  • and I find myself in a place where people are arguing over which politician was the scummiest... yup. That would be YouTube comments. The 7 billionth human is on the planet now, you folks better start figuring this stuff out promptly.

  • RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE

  • @DII117 RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE THEY TOOK OUR JOBS!

  • @Krocotto Dey Durk a Jurbs ><

  • @DII117 TO THE PILE!

  • In as far as lying to the public LBJ was only a bit player in this unlike George Bush whose entire presidency was an exercise in lies, deception, excuses, and general bullshit.

  • LBJ did not put us in Vietnam, that was done in 1954 by Eisenhower. The entire country was to get elections after the partition but the US reneged because a poll showed the Ho Chi Mien would win. So we propped up Vo Nguyen Giap because he was a Christian. Vietnam was about 80% Buddhist.

  • The biggest problem with Americans is we don’t understand; the president has only so much power. For instance: the so called “Black Underclass” has been there since Jim Crow. It is not a construct of LBJ but of institutionalized racism that did not offer any opportunities to people of color in education and job placement. Affirmative Action was a process to address this problem by giving private industry incentive to hire Black People.

  • Al Gore really should have aired a recreation of this in his 2000 campaign against George W. Bush. It could have saved America 8 years of ineptitude and incompetence, the effects of wish are still strongly felt today.

  • i love this kind of "negative campain" its brilliant!

  • If only present-day Democrats appealed to emotions/fear rather than reason/intelligence (as they do now) THEY'D win a lot more elections in the US House, US Senate and Presidency. One only has to look at how fear won the Democrats the New York Representative seat, where it was beholden to a conservative for decades. However, the Democrat's fear-monger propaganda about Republican's dismantling/abolishing Medicare isn't far off. Gotta use fear in America to win it!

  • classic fear mongering

  • I was one of the fortunate, depending on how you look at it, to have seen that commercial. I still remember where I was and who was there.

  • That's right, the man who gets this nation bogged down in Vietnam over the next four years, was actually considered the 'peace' candidate against Goldwater in that election.

  • "What you do in advertising is you get your can of soup, and you hold it up to the audience and say 'It tastes great, it's full of iron, fiber and vitamins, you should buy some'. What we do in politics is hold up the other guys' can of soup and say 'It's poison, it'll kill you!'"

  • LBJ never supported gun control, legalizing abortion or Gay marriage, He raised the defense budget to give poor people jobs killing foreign terrorists, kept the space program going to provide jobs for smart people, had the FBI wiretapping subversive groups in the interests of national security, and advocated a color blind society. His values weren't much different than those of President Bush,

  • BEST BY NOVEMBER 1958

  • Yeah, they just don't make campaign ads like they used to.

  • AuH20 would have started nuclear armageddon for his "values". LBJ created Medicare and signed the Civil Rights Act. Affirmative Action did not enslave any African-Americans but prevent a race war. Get your head out of your libertarian ass.

  • @perdondaris The so-called Great Society and war on poverty has created a permanent underclass of blacks in this country, making them permanently dependent on the gubmint. Go do the research and visit any inner city. Affirmative action is un-Constitutional, now being tossed out in case after case. And go fucking read 'Means of Ascent' by Robert Caro before you post another word. LBJ was a vain, insecure, arrogant man - and get your head out of your idiotic, uneducated left-wing ass.

  • @RGiacobbe Go suck on Nixons balls. You sound like Glenn Beck, you racist lying mother fucker. You'd rather see conservative assholes like Bush not give a fuck about black people at all.

  • @RGiacobbe

"war on poverty has created a permanent underclass of blacks in this country"

    "Affirmative action is un-Constitutional"

"Go do the research and visit any inner city"

Where do you get this stuff? I don't even know where to begin. But just a tip when you are having a conversation in real life. Saying this kind of stuff, especially the inference that the "inner city" is where to find all these "blacks" and then using "gubmint"? People might get the idea that you are kind of bigoted.

  • @RGiacobbe lmfao did you just say "gubmint"? I'm done

  • The context of this commercial was Goldwater's statement that he would use nukes in Vietnam. That would have led to World War III. Goldwater was a lot of things: a libertarian, an ideologue and a principled man. What he wasn't was a responsible statesman and his principles were wrong--just as wrong for America in 1964 as they are wrong for America today.

  • @perdondaris Not a responsible statesman? Compared to who, LBJ? The man who lied repeatedly to his country, escalated a war that killed 60K US soldiers and 2M Vietnamese, a man who created such civil strife in his country that race riots broke out, a man who implemented policies that have enslaved black americans in a permanent poverty class. Right... Goldwater wasn't responsible but lying, amoral, vain, incompetent LBJ was. 2+2 doesnt = 4 in your universe I guess.

  • @RGiacobbe Please stop using facts to make your point.

  • pfhh... LBJ is a saint... and Goldwater is greedy..... We were in Vietname HELPING (key word) the south vietnamiese.

  • @88darthmaul You are clueless. Probably also massively ignorant.

  • @88darthmaul Well America had no charitable reason for assisting the South Vietnamese except holding back Communism for as long as possible because the American economy would have been thrown into turmoil if it or its Allies became Communist.

  • Nixon got us out?..who said that? Pressure from the Nation got us out. Regular college students and high school students were protesting, a novel idea, never done before. And we weren't going to stop. Boys were running to the Canadian border because they didn't want to go to Vietnam. They had to pull criminals out of jail and send them to Vietnam and they shot their own troops, they called it friendly fire. No the Nation said ENOUGH. Nixon, got the boot in '74. we pulled out in '75.

  • "We must either love each other, or we must die"

    Great quote.

  • after the election and after vietnam interviewers asked goldwater what he would do in vietnam. He said, " their would'nt be a Vietnam. You wouldnt be able to grow a rice patty in vietnam"

they asked him what he meant.

He said he would of blown Vietnam off the map.

  • Did not know this was a real ad

  • The one president who actually would have benefited by being an isolationist.

  • You know, it wasn't LBJ who talked about the possibility of using nuclear weapons in Vietnam, it was Barry Goldwater. So, if the shoe fits, wear it. LBJ didn't get the US into that mess in southeast Asia.

  • @heycarter You have absolutely no clue. LBJ lied about the gulf of tonkin incident as a reason to expand the war. That's a fact. He sent troops into Cambodia, illegally. That's a fact. He picked civilian bombing targets, illegally. That's a fact. And Goldwater was against a land war in SE asia until we were committed, then he wanted to end it quickly.

You guys that spout this shit about history w/no facts are amazing. Are you that fucking clueless about the rest of life also?

  • @RGiacobbe @heycater you are so correct. LBJ was a lying SOB that lied to keep war going then dogged our troops for following his orders

  • Barry Goldwater probably would've been the best president; but of course, Americans were more concerned about catering to the politically correct, hippie movement and re-elect the Dumbo-ears, jackass LBJ. I mean, why drop bombs and end the war when the Democrats can keep it going so we can lose the war in the media. Thank God Nixon got in there to end it - YES, NIXON is the ONLY REASON that war ended.

  • @Mikey77B Sir, you are correct. You get the prize for the most accurate comment on this video so far.

  • @RGiacobbe Thank you very much, Sir. I only speak the truth and the truth is a very stubborn thing.

  • @Mikey77B I agree that Nixon was the only reason the war ended. Too bad he dragged it out another four years. Ah well.

As for LBJ being part of the politically-correct, hippie movement, I think that is a complete inaccuracy. First, hippies never got involved with politics; you're thinking of the anti-war college punks. Second, Johnson was far from a bleeding heart. True, he did lie his way into Vietnam for fear of the hawk lobby, but he obsessed over "losing" Vietnam to the communists.

  • @BlitztheDragon I wish it didn't go on another four years either. But it didn't start overnight so it wasn't going away overnight.

  • @Mikey77B Yeah, I respect Nixon for that... but then Watergate came...

  • its ads like this that have kept us from making significant progress in much of anything in the past 50 years

  • I see Obama winning in 2012 because most of the potential canidates are too right wing.

The only one that could probably stand a chance against him is Mitt Romney because he's smart, charasmatic, and not that right wing. He could be a great president but because he's mormon, the republicans will never let him be nominated. *sighs*

    Words from a liberal.

  • Very debatable tactics, but extremely effective.

  • lol, i think how history is such a big hype in people's life, makes me laugh. It's history, literally.

  • wtf was that?

  • Johnson, another murderous socialist and blight on America.

  • moral of this ad was, dont play near a nuclear testing ground silly girl.

  • Weird what you learn about history while watching Madmen

  • Holy shit thats fucking nuts that's like really weighing on my mind

  • Nicolas your comments are far off base for it has nothing to do with being a woman or being from Alaska but the consensus she's simply not qualified intellectually to be President

  • I remeber hearing something about "9 11" in this commercial, maybe a longer one, or a bit different. Either way, the anouncer said "9 11" CONSPERIACY. lol jk...

  • Violent ads have been around for a long time. Olbermann thinks they started with the crosshairs ad.

  • Cambodia invasion was under Nixon, not Johnson

  • Barry Goldwater deserved to win.

Of course, as usual, the honest, lucid and intelligent person lost.

  • @SniperMaske The typical American doesn't even know the definition of logic.

  • @SniperMaske Leave it to someone calling himself SniperMaske to speak for lucidity and intelligence ... But you're right, Reagan wasn't very lucid or intelligent. Neither was Bush II.

  • @SniperMaske They were both nutcases. Goldwater advocated ending social security. People voted AGAINST him because he presented himself as a nutjob.

Yeah, Johnson used fear to his advantage and fucked us over with Vietnam but Goldwater was no better in his domestic policies than Johnson and his Vietnam insanity.

  • @MagatsutheCalamity True. Leading young men to die in a war no one wanted was exactly the same as ending a marginally constitutional, unfunded social program.

  • @elricsmonte1987 A social program that, if ended, would put old people, particularly minorities, on the street to die.

  • @MagatsutheCalamity I wonder how humanity survived 500 000 years of history without social security.

  • @kapsi By not dealing with taxes and only doing what the Lord or their King told them to do.

  • @MagatsutheCalamity An average person before was free to do whatever they wanted and paid maybe 5% taxes. Now people pay 50% taxes and can't take a shit without written permission from government.

  • @kapsi Blame the subprime mortgage and everyone involved in that shitty idea.

  • @MagatsutheCalamity Yes I blame socialists like Clinton, Bush or Obama.

  • @kapsi ....The banks and the actual people who couldn't pay for it... oh, nvm.

  • @MagatsutheCalamity If you don't know, the government is responsible for baks giving loans to people that can't pay.

  • @kapsi Irresponsibility should be assessed equally and not blamed solely on the gov't. That's always the easy answer. "The gov't did it." and not... "People got too greedy because the gov't allowed it."

  • @MagatsutheCalamity You can blame people but they will acted rationally, and will do that again if they're given a chance. If someone gives you a house half-free, only an idiot wouldn't take it.

  • @kapsi Not being able to pay for it is acting rationally? What?

  • LBJ used "fear" as a persuader to vote for him and it worked.

Fear is the best way to change someone's attitude about something.

  • Thank you! I saw like 3 screenshots of this in my us history book and I just had to find the actual ad.

  • asshole johnson damaged America more than any man alive he gave the country away to the niggers and mexicoons

  • Comment removed

  • I can see a version of this ad being produced in 2012 if Sarah Palin was the Republican nominee for President.

  • @adam32492 Have you seen the version Obama, et al, have put out, trying to get START ratified in the lame duck session? Look up "Daisy Ad 2010."

    Palin ain't so bad, eh?

  • Palin could not handle Katie Couric and has problems with anyone who has a different world view which is why she only speaks on Fox.

  • @adam32492 how because she is a woman or because she is from Alaska? does that mean she is gonna blow shit up? your dumb, your probably a democrat, pissed off that your presidents overall approval rating is lower than LBJ's was, and you probably still breastfeed? let me know how far off the mark i am

  • @adam32492 You are absolutely right.

  • Johnson continued Kennedy policy in Southeast Asia and got 58,000 young men killed and many more wounded and emotionally scarred for life. It brings to mind "Twilight's Last Gleaming" with Burt Lancaster.

  • the republicans called FDR a commie, yet a man who campaigned on not taking the nuclear option off the table is held up a hero and was wronged. Republicans never change, if they do it it good use of media if it's done to them it's dirty politics.

  • I miss the days when fear mongering didn't know how to be subtle.

  • I won't proclaim to know anything about LBJ, but this ad is crazy. If ever there was need of an example for the power of fear motivation to differentiating one brand from another , this is it.

  • Never put a Texan in charge of fighting a war.

  • lol the ad says 'vote democrat or die'

  • Johnson the peace candidate, who sent 550,000 troops to Viet Nam, reversing the policy of President Kennedy; after all though LBJ was complicit in the murder of JFK, so that was to be expected. Started all those great welfare programs which have kept over 40 years of people reliant on the govt, at the loss of the freedoms and value of their money

  • AuH20

  • The reality is the Ad is true Goldwater was nuts..they surveyed 9,000 psychiatrists only 670 said Goldwater was mentally capable of serving as president

Johnson was a giant who helped to pave the way for the down on his luck fellow...He saved this country from implosion within

say what you will about Vietnam and his lack of foreign policy but the fact is no one could have dealt with that situation .

    LBJ for the USA

  • @Seabetiger You don't know what you're talking about. The stunt you refer to was a dirty trick by Bill Moyers and Jack Valenti and instantly disavowed by the AMA and APA, and the Johnson camp was forced to pull that ad after running once. And you must be really politically ignorant if you think he saved the country from implosion, when he caused it. He lied us into the Vietnam War and lost control of his domestic policy.

  • @RGiacobbe They only had to air it once in Washington D.C: then denounce it, sit back and reap the benefit of the controversy.

Why pay to distribute an ad if you can get the press to distribute it for you for free?

  • @RGiacobbe well I'm not going to say LBJ was the greatest President we ever had, sure he had has major flaws but he did lead our country in most prosperous time in America. History may have viewed him better today had he not been involved in Vietnam.

  • @Seabetiger You have a complete lack of knowledge of history. Johnson was an unstable power hungry social climber and conspired with a handful of texas oil barons and the mafia to killed Kennedy when me was going to be removed him from the ticket the next election cycle. He sank our efforts in Vietnam, created a welfare state that has killed our cities to this day.

  • @matrix49A yes sir

  • @Seabetiger God are you Stupid or what? Johnson only laid the groundwork for America getting it's ass kicked in Vietnam. Goldwater could have saved this country

    auH2O in 2012

  • RGiacobbe Comments are Way the FUCK OF THE MARK!

    HISTORY SAY SO !

  • @THEIMPERIALDUCK

What history? Your own little distorted, ignorant wordview you stupid fuck? Fottiti testa cazzo.

  • The molst famous political commercial ever!

  • This was only aired once, yet it made such a tremendous impact.

  • Goldwater should of won.

  • I'm kind of freaked out right now tbqh. Yikes.

  • ...I cast my vote for Johnson...

  • LOL THAT POOR GIRL!

  • I've always heard about this commercial, but I never thought I'd be able to see it. It's kind of scary.. Way to scare America.

  • say what you will about LBJ...but he was a political genius!

  • Political genius? Only if massive failure is considered political genius. Do you even know what you're talking about?

Consider his many failures: the gulf of tonkin resolution, his escalation policy, McNamara, his policy on counting war casualties, his bomb targeting, his "great society" now credited with creating the modern welfare state, his domestic agenda that led to race riots and escalating crime, etc. etc.

Go to school a few more years, read a book or two, then get back with us.

  • I'm not disagreeing with most of what you said, but what I meant when saying he was a political genius is that he knew how to further his agenda by using statements like "let us continue what JFK would have wanted" he manipulate Congress and the system as whole to get things that he wanted to be done turned into a reality. In that aspect, he WAS a political genius.

P.S. For your information, I am history major with published works and the recipient of several scholarship & awards

  • Haha... you're 22. what "awards"?

  • You forgot to mention that this was the first time fear was used in a political TV ad.

  • @RGiacobbe He can be 22 and still win awards and scholarships for his or her history major. Age doesn't matter how many awards he/she's received in their major of choice.

Now on to the matter of the video.

I would kill to see someone do a wtf boom for this.

  • If you were comfortable in your abilities to debate, you wouldn't have to pull your phantom awards into the internet.

    Just sayin'.

  • @fanofbond06 Marvelous - now you can take your place in the ranks of all the other award-winning political geniuses who got us where we are today.

  • @fanofbond06

And Obama has a Nobel Prize.

  • @RGiacobbe If you'll notice, fanofbond06 said he was a political genius for his tactics during the campaign, not necessarily for his policies during his presidency. Also, if it hadn't been for the war he sent our men and women to, the "great society" he wanted would have been more extensive than it was at the time (not that that justifies escalating the war or breaking promises made during his campaign).

  • @RGiacobbe What fanboy06 was saying was the fact that he could get elected. Sadly Politics is about how many people like you not what your ideas were. Running for office dosen't mean your capable for office. As you can see both these people or idiots just like in the 2004 election.

  • Republicans = Historical Revisionists

  • This description you gave is a damned fallacy and you know it. Goldwater was INTENT on dropping nuclear bombs on Vietnam, he SAID SO PUBLICLY, MANY TIMES.

What the hell is wrong with you conservatives, all you EVER do is outright lie, it's despicable.

  • @truthslap I'm not a conservative and I don't entirely agree with you. He never explicitly said he was INTENT on dropping bombs, he only said he was not discounting the possibility.

I actually had a chance to speak to Barry Goldwater's son about two weeks ago (also named Barry Goldwater) and was actually talking about this issue.

  • To get off all the internet argument and rapid research on Wikipedia, I find this ad fascinating just from the historical viewpoint. And imagine if this had been aired today...Both parties would have raised hell, this was an incredibly powerful ad, and possibly over the top. But whats done is done, LBJ was elected president, Vietnam happened, we can't change that.

  • But was it art?

  • LBJ was one of my favorite presidents. People let his failure in Vietnam overshadow what he did at home. He was the greatest chief legislator thus far, passing more bills in his first Congress than any president before him. He made huge strides for civil rights, Medicare/Medicaid, welfare, education, housing, social security, to name a few. Not to mention the country's lowest poverty rate in history was during the 70s and could easily be attributed to LBJ's War on Poverty.

  • Johnson's administration laid the foundation for the destruction of the American dollar, strengthened the gap between rich and poor, overspent and pushed horribly unconstitutional bills, and created much of the problems faced by his successors, namely the inflation crisis and "energy" crisis of the 1970's. He is the undisputed worst President in US history.

  • Wrong answer. STUPID JACK-OFF. AMERICA'S GROWING RELIANCE ON MIDDLE EASTERN OIL WAS WHAT BROUGHT DOWN THE KEYNESIAN CURVE IN 1973. THE EFFECTS OF THE ENERGY CRISIS OF THE 1970'S STARTED AFTER NIXON PISSED OFF THE ARABS AFTER HE AIDED ISRAEL IN THE YOM KIPPUR IN 1973. THE ARABS AND THE AMERICANS WERE NEVER ON FRIENDLY TIES AFTER THAT CRISIS EITHER, UNTIL BOTH THE SOVIET-AFGHAN WAR AND THE PERSIAN GULF SOLIDIFIED THE PRESENT-DAY "FRIENDSHIP FEELING" BETWEEN THE TWO.

  • @HULKYONE TYPING IN ALL CAPS DOES NOT MAKE YOU SOUND SMARTER (only louder)

  • Although I agree with the notion the LBJ was a rather incompetent president, you can't possibly play the what-if game and speculate that the man that publicly expressed the possibility of dropping another nuclear bomb would have done much better.

Where would this world be if that did happen, it's scary to think about.

  • Yeah, the horrors of winning the Vietnam War,no race riots, labor union reform, and the dismantling of the Welfare State.

Truly we did this country a favor by reelecting that Goddamn Texan.

  • @Christian121y You have A LOW IQ. THE REPUBLICAN RICHARD NIXON COULDN'T EVEN GUARANTEE VICTORY IN VIETNAM. YOU NEED TO STOP SUCKING UP TO INFERIOR LOGIC. THAT IS WHAT COST YOUR PARTY THE EIGHT REMAINING YEARS OF OBAMA'S TERM IN THE FIRST PLACE

  • Nixon was a crook who just happened to be a republican.

  • So what. HE STILL COULDN'T GUARANTEE VICTORY IN VIETNAM. HE EXPANDED IT TO CAMBODIA EVEN

  • Christian121y, YOU ARE A STUPID, SHIT-MINDED JACK-OFF. IT'S JUST THE TRUTHFUL FACT. ARE YOU GOING TO WHINE I'M COMMUNIST NOW FOR DISAGREEING WITH YOU? LOL

  • @SamKalirai True, BUT JOHNSON'S REAL MISTAKE AS PRESIDENT WAS ESCALATING THE VIETNAM WAR. GOLDWATER WAS AN EGOMANIAC

  • Also SamKalirai, JOHNSON WOULD HAVE BEEN RANKED ONE OF THE TEN GREATEST PRESIDENTS TO THIS DAY HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR HIS ESCALATION OF THE VIETNAM WAR. Regarding domestic issues, he was a very strong leader

  • Not true. He would have had tremendous success raising taxes to fund an escalation of the war and devoting all the country's resources to it, and ignoring the Great Society, or getting out completely and devoting all the country's resources to the Great Society. His indecision was mostly due to his devotion to his domestic policy as well as his desire to continue JFK's legacy, namely fighting the war in Vietnam.

  • Barry Goldwater would have been a better President for that era. There would have been a swift and decisive end to the Vietnam war. We would not have a gash of a memorial in Washington to over 50,000 lives lost for what? While war is never a popular option, and the candidate opposing an unpopular war usually wins, it is always best to stay out of wars you have no intention of winning. Mr. Obama here's your lesson for Afghanistan!

  • @yiminnybuck Yeah, JOHNSON'S SUCCESSOR NIXON SURE WAS ABLE TO WIN THE WAR BY EXPANDING IT TO CAMBODIA. LOL. WARS ARE SHIT MOST OF THE TIME

  • Conducting a half assed attempt at destroying supply lines which weren't even the main staging areas for the Viet Minh and then retreating whose retreat was announced broadly for the whole world to see isn't "expanding it to cambodia"

  • North Vietnam WOULD BEEN TOO RISKY TO INVADE, GIVEN THE AFTERMATH OF THE KOREAN WAR. IT WOULD HAVE INCREASED THE CHANCES OF WORLD WAR III HAD THE TROOPS GONE FASTLY INTO THE AREA, AS IT WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE CHINESE BORDER. THE GOALS OF THE WAR WERE ABOUT DIVIDING THE VIETNAM PENINSULA, PROTECTING SOUTH VIETNAM FROM NORTH VIETNAM, AND ONLY INVADING NORTH VIETNAM IF THE GRAVITY OF THE SITUATION WAS CLEARLY MORE FAVORABLE TO THE ALLIED FORCES. THE ONLY LOGISTICAL OPTION WAS TO BOMB NORTH VIETNAM.

  • johnson:

google gulf of tonkin & u.s.s. liberty..

  • crazy shit

  • LBJ was a political thug and an economic and social disaster.

  • Yes he was. The consequences of his disastrous presidency are felt even today. LBJ and GBW fight for the top spot spot as worse US president in the modern era.

  • George Balker Wush, lol.

  • No i think LBJ was a good president if you put aside the war.He wanted to end the war in peace and victory which lead to his down fall but the Johnson administration has been looked on favorably through out history so as the Kennedy administration

  • Incorrect my friend. LBJ is considered a massive failure by historians, despite the Civil Rights Act. He lied about the Gulf of Tonkin incident, lied about # of deaths in the war, and lied about fighting in Cambodia. He became consumed with the press and relied on McNamara & Kissinger for policy.

His Great Society created the modern welfare state. He was a vain, arrogant, insercure, vacuous man of no substance or principle.

Read Robert Caro's trilogy then get back to me.

  • well you know it could of been worst in this ad could of happened and i think it would have if Goldwater had won.

  • Every time someone types "could of" instead of "could have", a liberal commie hippie is aborted.

  • We would not have had to wait

25 years for the cold war to end!

  • @RGiacobbe Totally agree. My parents were Nixon-bashers, but personally I hated LBJ more than any "leader" before or since. "I won't be the first American President to lose a war, so you boys I've drafted go put the coonskin on the wall for me. Oh, BTW, from the comfort of our offices, Bob McNamara and I will be telling you exactly how many bullets you're allowed to fire." LBJ really began the general contempt and distrust so many Americans have toward their govt.

  • @JaneFlemingPiano I personally was a fan of LBJ up until his dealings with Vietnam, that was his greatest downfall.

  • I don't know how old you are or what you consider the "modern era" and I'm not GWB's biggest fan but Jimmy Carter beats him for worst Pres by a freakin' landslide i.e. IRAN HOSTAGE CRISIS, double digit inflation & interest rates on home loans. And what about Warren Harding and Woodrow Wilson? Or Herbert Hoover? Do they count as modern era? All these are worse than GWB. Your memory of Bush is just too fresh and not truly reflecting history. But I agree about LBJ. And I remember his presidency.

  • Carter did suck as a president, BUT W. GAVE ALL OF US A WORSE ECONOMIC CRISIS. Carter's crisis revolved around America's reliance on Middle Eastern oil, WHILE W.'s CRISIS REVOLVED AROUND DOMESTIC CREDIT. I didn't like the fact that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid caved in to his war-spending requests at all, NOR DO I LIKE THE FACT THAT OBAMA CONTINUED THEM. But the economy is healing and we will not be expensively spending on the war for much longer,. BUSH WAS WORSE THAN EVEN CARTER, CASE CLOSED

  • Case might be closed for you dude. If you think the economy is healing because of a fake stimulus of which only 20% has even been committed you are mistaken. We haven't seen the worst of it. At least GWB had the decency to SHUT UP once he left office, Carter keeps making an international ass of himself even 30 years after he left office!

  • Obama is Carter phase II, and BOTH of them are far worse than Bush. Carter has grown more inept
