However, people sometimes worry about it too much, and end up getting into an extended fight over what genre something is. Death metal or technical death metal? Neurofunk or techstep? Drumstep or dubstep? As far as I know, each pair of those genres can be similar to each other, making it difficult to group it. People shouldn't sweat it so much.

Kay, music evolves all the time. Dubstep 10 years ago is not the same as it is today. Things change. In Skream's words, not mine, it's all 'UK Bass' now. Stuff is getting mixed, tried, tested, it's insane. The genre as a whole is getting much broader. For example, people MC'ing on dubstep is still reasonably new. Afaik it's not that big in America but in the UK it's not too bad. Still not that played or heard of but it hasn't been rejected. Tbh I like grime on dubstep but that's my opinion.
