I grew up in the 70's & 80's in Southern OH with my grandparents. I remember when Grandma had cancer and knew she wasn't long for the earth. She asked for this song to be played at her funeral. That little white church on the hill was so packed, I don't think I'd ever seen that many people in one place. There truly were more friends around than leaves upon the ground. Thanks for putting this up.

I just live 15 minutes from Hominy Valley. That's where I saw them many years ago. So it was easy for me to see them. But believe me it would be worth a trip.

I will never forget the first time I heard these guys - about 32 years ago to be exact... and it was this song -

It just blew me away - it was so simple and clean that it was actually Profound. This was written by Granpa Jones, and probably one of the best messages in song I've ever heard. "The only thing you'll take is what you gave away..."

The bass player, Bruce Penland had a style that was - and still is my guiding inspiration.

I love this song, it sure has a message in it. The Primitive quartet are from the same area I am . They have a singing in the fall here. There are not many singer like them. They sing the old fashion way of singing. I guess that would be the proper way to say it. Thanks for sharing these beautiful songs.

But to see them in person.. is something else.. There are no recordings that do them justice. It's a phenominal experience, and they bring an energy to the stage that just can't translate into CD. It'll be worth the trip!
