Does anyone knows how to use the cheat in this game? i´ve searching, and found this: Level Select (the number of times L is pressed dictates the level you skip to) At the continue screen press R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, L repeatedly, Start. it doesn´t matter how many times i try it, it doesn´t work,. could anyone help me out? i found myself annoyed when turning my snes on, and beating all the levels from the beggining. am i making something wrong? HELP !!!

I got lucky in this game. Anything considered trial and error completely missed me because I either panicked or was being an ultra cautious pussy. Final made sure that never happened again, though... T.T

sooooooo... im playing a real copy of r-type III the japanese version on an american SNES, as soon as i killed the final boss, i was just flying in space for infinity, is that normal? anyone wanna help me out here? i just played this game for 8 hours non-stop and i was hoping for an ending...

Maybe the ending only gets triggered on a harder difficulty or when you play through it twice - thats how it is in alot of SHMUPs

This is truly one of the greatest games ever created. The gameplay is terrific, both challenging and fun. The graphics look great, and take advantage of the hardware to create some very impressive visuals. And finally, the music is just downright incredible, from both compositional and technical standpoints.

The fact that it keeps you coming back after repeatedly kicking your ass speaks volumes for the overall quality of the game.

@ncf209rulz which button is on ur keyboard the R-Button of the snes controller? because this is the button to select the hyper mode. =D But its better if u play snes games with a controller because u dont need really to memorize any button of the keyboard. =3 i think today cost a pc gamepad only 15 til 20 bucks. =/ but i want give u only a tip for emulator games . ;)

Dude, whoever was playing this was dumb. At the advanced mission, the final boss, when the head was off, the person who was playing waS SO dumb to not use Hyper and kill it, and would rather use it on the enemys.

Are you talking about the sperm-like projectiles from the 2nd boss? I had the PAL version of this on my SNES and they looked exactly like these. Must be just the US version that was censored.

I remember that a lot of games released in the UK during the 16 Bit era (SNES and MegaDrive) were essentially Japanese games translated to English. Shame for those in the US back then, eh?

Well, I live in the UK and had a PAL SNES years ago. The game was very cheap too. There are converters for the consoles (I had a huge one that let me play Star Fox as I imported it), but they'll be hard to find now.

You're better off emulating it just to see what it's like. Just use ZSNES or my favourite, SNES9X...

Best of the R-types, imho. Really well balanced difficulty for an R-type game. The previous two were just balls out hard and unfair. This one felt tough but not impossible.

@Sunjammer Totally agreed. I was worried about getting this after playing the first two on Xbox Arcade, but this didn't have cheap difficulty like the first two did. This balls hard though! I'm on the third stage end boss right now.
