I'm having trouble with the diode in the ps3 it is in this metal housing holing it in i almost have it out but can i juts leave it in the small metal around it or how did u get it out.

As long as you can access the three little leg-wire sections and the laser has a clear area to fire through I'd leave it alone. You want it looking like in 5.20 of the video.

If this isn't the case then be careful removing it. They are fragile.

Now, to get the diode to sit in a torch housing you may either need to source a housing for it (see laser pointer forums for more intel) AND OR make up some metal shims to get the diode to sit firmly into a torch housing etc

You might try fiting all the componants into an Altoid tin. Be about the right size...
